"Gabriel's Oboe" theme is one of the most (if not the most itself) heart-melting, soul-breaking and chills-giving melodies and musical compositions that have ever been created. Every time I listen to it I have a mix of feelings: tears fight to roll out of my eyes while I realize the incomensurable power that humans do own to create beauty and, at the same time, to destroy beauty. This oboe performance is pristine and ranks among the best ever performed of this Morricone classic. It's amazing how a gifted concert musician can rise to the solo moment, soar among the ether, and then slip quietly unnoticed back into the full orchestra.
That’s the reason why when I want to ear “my” Gabriel ‘s oboe, I watch this concert. It’s a pity that in the end The Maestro Morricone, doesn’t give her a special mention. Ennio always used to play with the same orchestra, I went twice to his concert and the oboist used to get it’s own applause but again, this lady, it’s the best. Thanks for your comment. Last thing, the choir it’s superb too. ( I used to sing in a choir so my heart it’s always with them)
Spotify has several beautiful renditions of this piece but I always return to this specific performance. The addition of the choir brings me to tears and touches my soul. Bravo! Bravo!
I seen his last world tour in Dublin & he commented that the concert goers were so uninhibited cheerful that he felt it was more like a rock concert its why he came back . A truly amazing man & his orchestra are talented beyond belief my jaw was catching flies , A night I'll take to my grave with a smile & Gabriel's Oboe in my ears . Heaven . What a man . See you one day Ennio .
It is so true! God's heavenly orchestra may never worry now... it is in best hands... Music like this and talents like this, only prove to me that there is God, and , that we ARE created in his image, and that He supplies us with all good things to make life better and more enjoyable and make Him rejoice up there . Because, the world, He so graciously created - is beautiful!
I am a 37-year-old man, who currently enjoys classical and Opera as if they entered my soul; making my heart resonate with each beautiful note they play. And that, my dear friends, is how I witness the hand of God and the beauty of humankind.
This sounds like angels... I called my son Gabriel. And I listened to this song while pregnant, and later when he was born, and when he was 1y old, he asked me to play it over and over again, like he remembered when I listened it when he was in utero. It's almost mystical.
I've often wondered if we can hear music in the womb and weather we remember it when born . By your experience it certainly sounds like it . And thank you for sharing ❤
@@michaelwalsh9046 you welcome. I don't know if it really proves something... But, it has been proven that classic music helps babies sleep, specially premature ones, it soothes them. But Aloys-Gabriel's bond is special with this

The Mission (Gabriel's Oboe) is the most beautiful melody that penetrates the soul. I am still very sad that Morricone has passed away during this pandemic. His noble music makes us remember the power of love and music. The world may not return to what it used to be. But wherever we are, our souls are tied solidly. Let's live together in the same time without forgetting “love”! With love from Japan.
His death had nothing to do with the Corona pandemic. Almost all falls at his age are life risks. May he rest in peace. We shall always remember him and his divine music.

Yes, a broken world for sure, and what a precious gift it is. The world needs many, many more of these kinds of gifts now that he has left us and taken his gift to heaven.
I just discovered this piece of music and its musicians. How can - we as humans - not embrace such wonderful sounds. This piece of music is soul searching - makes one want to shed tears.
I think that humans can embrace such wonderful sounds. Humans even created them. And they play those sounds. And humans keep playing them again and again. And humans record them.
Ennio Morricone said that sometimes ideas for music came to him in his dreams which is why he always slept with a notepad and a pencil by his bed. This truly is music of dreams. Heavenly dreams. I have no words. Even after 30 years ( since I heard it for the first time), it still brings on elation and tears. Every time, without a fail.
Thank you for this information. This confirms my idea that this great musical genius and others like him are angels of music, sent to us by God to bring down here a bit of heaven’s music.
This is the best musical piece of all times ....Beethoven didn't write a piece like that, nor Mozart, nor Bach. I'm blessed I could attend one Morricone's concert at the Arena di Verona ..... a lifetime experience
The oboe solo is sublime, but I would also like to point out the perfect and spirited flute solo. The whole piece is astounding and straight out of heaven.
Je pense à Carlos Marin dcd après la 3 in jection, que chantait cette musique sublime. Il a rejoins le paradis ou il doit le chanter encore cet air mer veilleux !
I just graduated as a nurse when the movie, "The Mission", was shown. This was shere I first heard the music of Maestro Ennio Morricone and fell in love with this genius. In relation to that Oscar that Maricone wasn't awarded for this music, centuries in the future people will still be playing this music, and that minor awards ceremony will have been forgotten.
Amazing yes but why not? If you believe that we all as human beings possess an immortal soul then that means we also possess a bit if the Devine and being such a chosen few of us can tap into that part and create such beauty for the rest of us to enjoy.

The amazing oboist is Yeon-Hee Kwak of Korea! She has won many European awards and was the principal oboist of this Munich orchestra for 8 years. Much revered talent!
He's very talented, yes, but I seriously doubt that a deity planted him, all ready for fame and adulation, behind the podium. Years and years of teaching, learning, practice, work, research, luck, financing, drafting, testing, composing and editing lie behind every masterwork. It's a very human process, and I for one find that fact all the more wonderful. I give credit where it's due, and don't presume it comes from a magical somehow, somewhere or someone else. ( I used to sing in a choir so my heart it’s always with them)
So true!
The comments on this video are as uplifting as the music. Even the ones in a language I don't understand. The power of music.
Spotify has several beautiful renditions of this piece but I always return to this specific performance. The addition of the choir brings me to tears and touches my soul. Bravo! Bravo!

Sad that it’s nearly three years ago Morricone passed away but his haunting music will live on.

This sounds like angels... I called my son Gabriel. And I listened to this song while pregnant, and later when he was born, and when he was 1y old, he asked me to play it over and over again, like he remembered when I listened it when he was in utero. It's almost mystical.

What makes you say we cannot embrace them?

I think that humans can embrace such wonderful sounds. Humans even created them. And they play those sounds. And humans keep playing them again and again. And humans record them.

Ennio Morricone said that sometimes ideas for music came to him in his dreams which is why he always slept with a notepad and a pencil by his bed. This truly is music of dreams. Heavenly dreams. I have no words. Even after 30 years ( since I heard it for the first time), it still brings on elation and tears. Every time, without a fail.

He's very talented, yes, but I seriously doubt that a deity planted him, all ready for fame and adulation, behind the podium. Years and years of teaching, learning, practice, work, research, luck, financing, drafting, testing, composing and editing lie behind every masterwork.
