@lukenguyencooks Kettu Vallam means boat made by tying. The wood planks of the hull are joined by tying with coir. There are no nails used in a Kettu Vallam. Beef, Fish, Tapioca and Toddy. Heavenly 👌

(Ofcourse Nobody from my relatives is doing that trade anymore) but from what I observed , it's dying trade out here. The tappers make just enough to make a living like any labor work. So surprised by your comment.

Never occurred ever in case of toddy in kerala. If you are saying about arrack, thats true occured long back now no chance as arrack is banned in kerala. Such incidents are occurring here and there in other states. Recently in tamil nadu too.
No it won't , toddy is made more stronger by adding spirit or ethyl alcohol , normally it is done in controlled environments , unregulated makers sometimes messes up the formula that leads to accidents that leads to blindness is because of ethyl alcohol being higher, alcohol making without proper license is highly illegal in Kerala and India.
