my trusty Brompton is 17 years 8 months since manufacture and rides as sweet and smooth as ever, not many things in life are as reliable as this bike.

People's comments remind me just how fine a product this is. Every time I ride my Brompton, wherever I am in the world, it brings a smile of appreciation to my face. So, 5-years later, where is Amy today?

Note to Brompton..maybe replace the screw where the frame folds with a quick release clamp..perhaps one that has two actions for safety

Darren Carlier if you haven’t already, just do it. I’ve just bought one after 2 years of umming and arghing. I now use the Brompton over my MTB for most things now. You soon forget you’re on a fold up bike when you’re riding it. They’re great!
I'm replying to a 2 year old comment. So by now with any changes Dahon have made to their bikes will probably have made your Dahon redundant anyway. They don't keep or make any parts to keep older models on the road.

I bought a second hand Brompton last year and sold the Dahon.
I’ve added a few upgrades and absolutely love it.
I buy this 2013 and no rust until now

brompton folding bikes are indeed great bikes, but so are other brands depending on what you use them for. I personally would not pay 1k or 900 bucks for a bike but I do get it.
My current folding bike cost me 250 bucks with 6 speeds and I have rode it every place you can think of with ZERO issues so personal preference is it.
its a very good quality bike apparently, but 2 grand for a nickel version is aimed at fashion victims, it will still scratch and ding eventually.
and as for saving 750grammes, if you really wanted to save weight it should be made of carbon.
i understand its practical uses in a city, my sister got hers second hand and paid 500 quid, which is what i reckon its worth without the apple style marketing, she lives in a flat and takes it on the tube so its ideal, but without the folding design, its just a good practical bike, not some specialised downhill mountain racer or ultra light track bike.
im continually amazed how folks buy into marketing and spin to overpay for everything from bags to cars.

I bought a relatively new Brompton for £800 they hold their value and I thought if I don’t like it I could always sell it easily for the same price... however it’s always impressed me every time I’ve used it and I still have it. I use it now more than my £1500 mtb.. never regretted buying it, not once... the nickel/titanium ones are expensive but don’t let that make you think the standard ones are not good bikes. I couldn’t recommend Brompton highly enough
It sounds a lot but I think you would get your money's worth in a short time.i bought myself an e scooter for 1k and it's really payed itself back ,bacically zero maintenance too😁

My experience with Brompton is shocking, leaving me with a bad taste in the mouth, along with a £150 downscale in colour with nothing to show for it... If you need the fold buy, if not? I wouldn't touch them

It would be good to maybe say why you had a bad experience for any potential buyers, instead of just a vague rant.
