Great tips! I wanted to know if there's a reason you don't use the Brompton pump that comes with the bike and attaches to the triangle with the built in hooks?
Hi Ride On Cycling The pump is beautifuly place at the Brompton frame, but the most PSI you can get is 40 to 50 PSI. It is not enough for Brompton tires. Ideal you need from 70 to 100psi. Below 60psi the tire stays to soft and bent on curves. Check what happened with me th-cam.com/video/5Qm8bMXv-uU/w-d-xo.html Nice to have you on board!
@@ChrisbyBike I find 100psi to be too harsh on the Brompton it "feels" fast but in reality it's just a harsh ride. The way I see it is if I got a puncture on the Brompton I'd take a cab home (the beauty of them fitting in a trunk 😀). If it came down to a roadside fix I view the hand pump as I would the hand pump on my road bike, it's a temporary fix until I get home to a track pump. 😊
The beauty about Bromptons is that it fits anywhere. If we use it only in the city, it's is fine. Just get a ride back home. Perfect! But, I like to travel with my Brompton, and the Btompton pump will not save me in case of a emergency in the midle of a trip. So I always carry a better pump to keep my tires at the right pressure. I always use 20% less them top PSI. It makes 80psi in Brompton tires. I hope Brompton improve it's pump, because it looks só cool in the frame 😊👍🏻🚴♀️
On a Lightweight, they have for some strange reason (Lightweights aren't supposed to have a puncture!) saved the small piece of wire making it possible to bring a pump on the frame, making the bike a few grams lighter!
Ho Shailendra Kamat Dhanyavaad I'm glad you like it! Greetings to India, I've been to India twice, Great country great culture 🙏🏻 Nice to have you on board!
I’ve seen it with electrical tape more. It’s just a good place to store a short length of tape that you can then peel off the bottle/pump (as shown here) and use it as a road-side fix for something.

Eventually, for a little more security, being unable to reach/get to the tube in the frame, because it has gone in too far, put a line with a knob round it, and the knob will fall out if in case of need! And the factory has put some, small and - absolutely ridiculous pieces of clear tape at several places (One of mine had been worn through after only two folds, I found out, when I soon after the buy was giving my paint an auto-polish all over) which I have mostly replaced with proper protective carbon plates (To be bought especially for the purposes) around. And a long sown on piece of leather, both on the frame and also up the stem post, to prevent scratches from shoes and handling.
