I really like your POV when it comes to solutions for problems. when this whole PBR craze took off, I sidelined everything for physical accuracy. to the point where I thought more about the mathematics than about art. its really hard to get out of this mindset, the glass example also really hit home. as I follow these tutorials I ran into problems with the mesh, but instead of doing it in post or even thinking about it, I started googling "how to fix faceted mesh in 3dsmax"? all these rabbitholes that distract you from actually rendering the image and thinking about the big picture. I wish I could erase so many stuff from my brain and be young again when I started with 3D and just did not care for GI, AA, PBR and just rendered away.
hahahaha, I am guilty of this myself. I use to be so mentally focused on accuracy and reality I forgot that this is art, but also most importantly what really changed the way I do things is when I stopped caring about recognition from other artists and only focus on making sure my clients are happy. This allowed me to speed up my workflow even more and be able to make more money, the less time I can spend on a job and as long as the client is happy, nobody asks me how I got to the finish line. Only time this backfires is when it comes to animations lol.
You really read my mind. Was suffering in the same dilemma :'( Its actually astonishing to see its not just me who went down the rabbit hole through this exact footsteps :P
Awesome. Thanks for the Tutorial. 😊👍
glass reflections missing
Very nice tutorial, thanks for your explanation.
Wow, wow, wow, that’s great, thank you so much. I can learn anything I want to learn. Are there any paid tutorials that I can learn, such as patreon
