- The FL5 Civic Type R come from Honda with a very quiet exhaust. LHT Performance is a shop in Florida that specializes with Honda vehicles. Let me take you on a tour of my Type R as I go from stock exhaust to a custom built LHT performance exhaust. Is the FL5 Honda Civic Type R a BETTER performance car with a TITANIUM exhaust?

That exhaust sounds really good joe, it’s awesome to see you have so much fun with Type R. Just got my SGP FL5 a few weeks ago and I love everything about it other than the lack of sound. Congrats man!

I follow LHT and it’s one of my favorite channels. I have a S2000 and had a conversation with John. He definitely seems sincere and honest. Your car sounds great…. Oh, and your channel is good too. 😉
I have to heavily compliment Joe for making the effort to record sound INSIDE the cabin. I can’t tell you how many times I get annoyed that videos keep focusing on exterior sound (the absolute worst is interior view with GoPro exterior sound).
As Joe said, you’re not listening from the outside when you’re driving, and this kind of effort really helps me understand what I may feel driving it.

John makes a great exhaust. He did a titanium X pipe for my ZR1 and it picked up a whole bunch of power.

I love the Type R but since they’re so hard to obtain I settled on the Elantra N. It’s so much fun to drive and I think part of it has to do with the great sound it makes. I’m so glad it comes that way straight from the factory because I’m not the type to mod cars. With that said, I loved watching this video. Thanks Joe!

He did a great job with the exhaust, it sounds exactly as it should, cultivated on the outside and on the inside, not rude or immature, it exactly fits the car, you are satisfied, people close to the car are not irritated, and the most important thing is that the sound is really pleasant. Don't touch anything, you're gonna screw it up, and you're gonna be pissed, because you can't bring the initial sound back.

Makes me appreciate the factory exhaust on my Elantra N. Don’t feel the need to change any of the exhaust cause of how it already sounds in N mode.

Is LHT also planning to build a custom downpipe to replace the factory one? It looks like there aren't many aftermarket options for upgraded FL5 downpipes yet.

This looks like such a fun daily driver. Coming from a few Mopar 392s, thinking of changing it up to something like this. It would be a first go at manual for me, but I think a few tries and it will be a pleasure.
Dooo it! I have an Si not a Type R but it is my first manual and the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner. Once you get comfortable with it, it’ll be a pleasure!

Welders are the reason we have beautiful machines and these amazing sounds. Me personally I am not an artist my buddy welds and he has helped me a lot with my car journy
my friend got a 1000 GSX and upgraded to titanium exhaust... HE needed an intake upgrade first , i pushed it on him and he got it .... happiest guy I ever seen...
LOL Honda comes with turbos with the 1.5L.. thats like 1995 Liter engines LOL

nice, ive got a 1.5 turbo 24 civic sport touring manual trans, what could i do to the exhaust without voiding warrenty to get a better sound
i think the exhaust sounds great. nostalgic 90s jdm sound. not too loud, not too soft, just the right tone. and most importantly none of that diarrhea crackle and pop everyone seems to want these days.
