Love watching this piece come to life again. It's a fullfilling task. I once bought a 90's LP Standard, winered, with a broken headstock. For 200 Euros. Seller was sure it was a no go. A total loss... Fixing it cost me 60 more, and it plays great!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Most breaks are repearable, a 'clean' break, if that exists, not snapped off completely, it is a no brainer for a luthier. Oh and the myth of inproved tuning stabilty is not a myth. It's science, it's true. That's why people to this day (I got it 13 years ago) still offer me crazy money for it. My advice: if you find ond, get a thrustworthy to look at it before buying. And you're good. Maybe you know someone who has one with a repaired headstock, try it out for a week or so.... Worth the effort...

The LP Classics are great. I found a 2022 Classic at Guitar Center sent to me in "good condtion". I opened it up and cleaned it a little and the thing was like new not a scatch on it. Perfect case with all the factory manuals and picture $1520. Cherry red, '61 pickups sound great.

This is so cool Marty. I did the same thing except I ordered a Fender American Ultra Luxe Strat body with a Musikraft maple neck. I am having my friend put it all together for me with his own hand-wired pickups, wiring harness, and all. By the time I'm done, it might be around the cost to get one all assembled by Fender, BUT it will be my own specks and everything I'd want in a Strat. It should be done before Christmas. I feel like a kid in a candy store lol. Your Lester sounds sweet, great job!

Awesome man!! Thankfully I have experience with setup since over the last 4 years I’ve really worked on my wiring and setup skills. Plus I had the pickups already so that saved me quite a bit of money. I hope your guitar turns out amazing!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker That’s the whole deal. Saving the money to get guitars we really want. The ones that give us the goosebumps and smiles on our faces. I’m selling a bunch of guitars for an R8 as well. So, I’ll be left with an R8, the Fender American Ultra Luxe in the works, a Jimmy Page Mirror Tele, Jimmy Page Dragon Tele, a Greg Koch Gristlemaster, and so on. They all will sound different and that’s the key for me. With the building, it makes you feel better once the project is done and it’s in your hands. Keep it up, I dig your channel.

Fantastic result!! I'm equally blown away at the lead tone at the end of the video! Would you mind sharing your signal chain, or letting me know which amp you were using? Sounds killer!!!

    • @Ranch5150SkinWalker
      @Ranch5150SkinWalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you! For the majority of my videos I use my Fractal Ax8! Since I can get a nice clean direct signal.
I believe I used a Fender Twin with a little gain on it for the clean sound and then a Friedman BE patch for the dirty with a gain setting added for extra boost.
I always modify my patches on the AX8 with a reverb and delay setting I like. And mess around with the cabinet Ir’s and try to pick something that just breathes well. Not sure if you have ever messed with an AX8 or Ir’s but you can adjust the proximity settings in the cabinet IR menu and that really makes it come to life.
It’s nice because you can tweak using your co-opted screen as a monitor and get it just right. It’s doesn’t take too long and it’s not that hard when you start playing around with it.

Any chance you could drop a link for the Grover tuners while I wait for the other parts to come from Stratosphere? That's all I'm missing and it seems like the best option for what I plan on doing

Thank you. Man I was really nervous getting it put together. It may not show in the video but I wanted it to be right. I finally wound up putting the gold top hat knobs on it that the classics come with. I love the guitar. One thing I failed to mention in the video is the need to buy a hard case. That will add to the expense of for now I’m using one from another guitar when I take it to gigs. Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it!

You will need to get long stem
Pots for the volume and tone knobs. And a switchcraft 3 way switch. Look on eBay or something. The long step pots are the only ones that will work. And you need the switchcraft with the screw on metal ring on the outside.
Here are Emerson ones. Like I got:

    • @Ranch5150SkinWalker

No need at all. This came fresh from the Gibson factory to stratosphere. They parted these things out. And it was spot on.
Action is perfect. I didn’t have to adjust the truss rod at all. Just set the bridge to the correct height which was almost flat to the body. Smoothest build I’ve done to date with no issues other than some of my wiring stupidity. Lol.

So how is it that you can buy a "husk"? Why would someone part out such an expensive guitar? It's certainly a cool way to save some bucks. I guess I just don't understand who parts out a $2.3k guitar and sells the husk for $1200? I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth though I guess. Regardless that's a nice guitar. It sounds killer. 👍

I actually built me a legit Gibson lespaul classic by using used parts of eBay. I bought a tobacco burst body and then a neck and all the original but used Gibson classic parts and built it for 550 dollars and I took it to a local guitar shop to see how much they would buy it from me for and they said they would give me 1500 for it and I asked them if it was a real true Gibson classic not telling them what I did and they looked it over and said yup it's real
