What did Katherkne Hepburn mean when she said he should wait until he is 80 to be an actor?Did she mean that he was a bad actor or that it was difficult to make one's way in show business ?🤔 Cause he's such a good actor.
@Boomstick McNugget He sounds like a fancier version of my grandma who moved from the Ozarks to Indiana in her teens. Sounded Northern with Southern expressions!
Interesting tidbit: The producers of the Nanny were getting angry letters from fans about Charles Shaughnessy's "fake" accent and urged him to take lessons from Daniel Davis. Charles is a bonafide English Lord and Daniel is from Arkansas. 🤣
During the run of 'Magnum PI' , Johnathan Hillerman, who plays Higgins, received a letter from an English Lord calling him "a credit to the empire ". Johnathan Hillerman is from Denison,Texas.
I still don't hear much difference with the accent. Still sounds Niles to me. This interview was fun. I wish it was longer simply because it was a joy listening to him and his smile was beautiful. 😁
Daniel is more talented than that bc he is from Gurdon, Arkansas & one must work very hard to sound midwestern much less British! Lol! The “i’s” & twang are hard to overcome;)
"You'd have to be dead six months to fit into it"!!!!!! When I first heard that line I fell off my seat from laughing, it cracked me up!!!!!😂 I thought it was THE BEST line I've ever heard from all of the episodes. My favorite as well. Kept playing it over and over again and still cracks me up😂😂. Daniel you're the BEST!!!!! You deserve to be a SIR!!!!! Peace and Love✌💝 from sunny🌅 Greece⛵💦
I like the one where he’s in the office and Mr Sheffield says: “Niles get that hideous thing off the terrace.”(CC is smoking on the terrace) Niles (to CC) Mr Sheffield wants you to get off the terrace” 😂
Just look how Daniels behavior changes. At first, he was reserved and acted and spoke like Niles but as the questions went on, he relaxed and started to speak in his natural voice. Gotta love the guy.
Davis is such a great actor. He was hilarious as Niles in 'The Nanny'. He also had a guest role in the TV series 'MacGyver' where he played a member of a underworld criminal ring. He was such and evil and depraved character in that. He even had the same accent which added to his diabolical role. He proved what a versatile actor he was in that. I'd like to find other roles he was in. Thanks for posting this.
He DID appear once on a sci-fi show. Star Trek, The Next Generation, in an episode titled: Elementary, Dear Data. (I had to look it up) He played Professor Moriarty, from the Sherlock Holmes stories. I'm not a Trekkie, but he was so good it stuck with me.
Speaking of Moriarty from ST:TNG, it would be amazing if ST:Picard brought back the character. Maybe transfer Moriarty's consciousness into an android body like they did with Jean-Luc. It could be Danial's big break into sci-fi work.
Amazing. I know this wonderful actor from Star Trek TNG. His cut glass English accent in that is so convincing that I am in absolute awe. The Nanny didn't make it across the Atlantic though.
The Nanny producers thought so too and during the casting process thought that Charles Shaugnessy (who is ACTUALLY British) was faking the accent and told him to go to Daniel for advice on how to sound more authentic 🤣🤣🤣
Oh he's a still good looking as ever and I would love to see him on something like Battlestar Galactica I'm just love to see him on anything else I adore him as an actor
I was today years old when I found out that my favorite TV Butler isn’t really British!!! Watching this interview, it’s like he’s really British trying out an American accent.....
He really has a future as a VOICE NARRATOR. That is NOT a hit against him in the slightest. His voice is PERFECT and he can be much more comfortable and of course voice actors can make big bank, with arguably even more opportunities, as you can animate however you wish (the Simpsons cast make $1 Mil per episode) Edit: particularly his British accent
Daniel Davis is an extraordinary actor !!! He dominates the scenes !
I believe his elegant voice is what fooled everyone, he has perfect diction also. You can barely notice he has no English accent here.
His real American accent sounds like an English trying to do an American accent but fails.

I cant believe I spent my whole childhood believing he had an English accent!
You and I! I all about fell of my chair today when I found out!

You and half of the world 🤣
Don’t feel too badly. I did too. But what’s worse is that I was at the three min mark before I was like wth where did his accent go hahahahah
During the run of 'Magnum PI' , Johnathan Hillerman, who plays Higgins, received a letter from an English Lord calling him

Johnathan Hillerman is from Denison,Texas.
He's still attractive as hell. Love him!
The years made him so handsome and I love his smile!
Meeeee tooooo
If I had been the nanny I'd have gone for Niles. Maxwell is a bore compared to that rapier wit.
I still don't hear much difference with the accent. Still sounds Niles to me. This interview was fun. I wish it was longer simply because it was a joy listening to him and his smile was beautiful. 😁
I still can't believe he was putting on fake accent when he was playing Niles..😂😂😂😂
Well he sure fooled me all those years on the show.
His own accent cut through several times notably when singing.it's easy enough to explain given Niles' long tenure in the USA

A Daniel Davis interview is worth watching and listening to in any circumstance. Pure gold; and extremely rare…
Love ya Daniel Davis! Seems like such a nice person
My word Daniel Davis is Handsome! Love him
what a beautiful speaking voice. Daniel has. its just lovely.

Niles: Die, we'll see
It gets me all the time^^

I love him on The Nanny so much! But I also saw him on Broadway and he was amazing! Beautiful singing voice!
I didn't know he could sing! I hope he gets his wish for the SyFy channel show.
Daniel is just adorable 💞
Love him, a gentleman
He sure fooled me, and I'm British! He will fit in so well with the toffs!
Captain of the Enterprise, Professor Moriarty, Much respect, sir.
He is sooo adorable
I want me a Niles....british accent, petty when needed, funny, and quick and a low key flirt!
Just look how Daniels behavior changes. At first, he was reserved and acted and spoke like Niles but as the questions went on, he relaxed and started to speak in his natural voice. Gotta love the guy.
This was fun watching. He is so down-to-earth and funny.
LOVE you,Niles!!!Always!!You were brilliant in Nanny!!!💝
He'll always be Niles.
I love Daniel Davis!
I just Love him.
I had no Idea he was so witty, funny and charming in real life
Niles, just really made the show with his funny puns at CC. He was a hoot!!!!!
At least this is my opinion.
He seems nice.
I LOVE him!! He was my favorite character on "The Nanny" and I loved him as 'Moriarity' on "Star Trek Next Generation," too.
As soon as he started reciting that line about Ms Babcock I was saying it right along with him because I remember it and it was a good one!

Brits: He's American? I thought he was one of us!
No
Mr. Sheffield is British and Niles is from the heart of America

He's a brilliant actor!!
I rarely like interviews and interviewers but I liked this interview so very much!
Absolutely delightful!👏👏🙏
He was my favorite character on the Nanny. I probably wouldn’t have watched it had he not delivered the BEST one liners.
He looking good!My most favourite parts in the nanny it is with butler played by him.Wish him everything best with his carrier and good health.
Thank you
I just so love Daniel...aka Niles the Butler.
Let’s get Daniel Davis his own sci-fi series 👽 🖖🏼⭐️

Most people are shocked to find out he's from Arkansas
People will remember him as the holographic Professor Moriarty from Star Trek the Next Generation who somehow escaped the holodeck. An iconic role.
I'm ashamed I forgot...saw that episode when it originally aired!
I knew it!!! I broke my head trying to figure out where I recognized him from when I started watching the nanny!!
Speaking of Moriarty from ST:TNG, it would be amazing if ST:Picard brought back the character. Maybe transfer Moriarty's consciousness into an android body like they did with Jean-Luc.

@@JanetStarChildthey did bring him back, but only briefly
I love him in stng. Such a charming villain.
I love Daniel Davis!! And I love that he remembers that priceless line from The Nanny!!
I think he had better and funnier lines than that one.
That was a light-hearted, fun interview. Glad to see "Niles" is doing so good. Best wishes to him.
A role of a lifetime

Mr. Davis. A professional with great wit, charm, intelligence and charisma. Admire him and he made me happy. 😅
I love Daniel Davis! Its so weird hearing his American voice when i'm so used to hearing his English accent
Daniel Davis as Niles the butler on "The Nanny" was hilarious, funnier than Fran Drescher if that's possible ....
The best one was when Nails advise CC about the Mr Sheffield promise wedding 😂

Wow I must be living under a rock because I had no idea he was American!! Lmao 😂
I thought the same also. He is from Arkansas.
And he is from Little Rock. Were you under that rock?
Loved him on the Nanny. He had some of the most hilarious punchlines. I Think he was my favorite.
I miss him.
He started his career with the PCPA, then joined the DCTC. I first met him playing Hamlet. This was back in the day when he went by "Danny".
