I have just purchased one of these yesterday. Hardley any imbalance and so smooth running. Sometimes I think the stones will never stop when I switch off. For my purposes, it's a vast improvement over an old B&Q 150W grinder that has just parted company from its plastic base. I now want a Polisher and another grinder with polishing mops will be cheaper than a dedicated polisher, using the same motor but badged differently. I am a fan of Titan.

I dress the stones using an angle grinder with a grinding disc then just pass horizontally lightly it gets them absolutely spot on,

Good tip............always remove one wheel, then balance the one that's left on the grinder. Then do the same with the next wheel. Otherwise, you're fighting against two variables.

but surely at some point youre going to want 2 stones balanced on the machine. you wont achieve that by removing a wheel each time 😂

Wondering if the vibration caused by imbalances in the stones is cancelled by moving the stones about the shaft relative to each other rather than rotating the clamping plates on the wheels. I cannot see that rotating the plates on the wheels would make any significant difference to a vibration problem caused by grinding wheel imbalances

I’ve just bought one today. I’m beginning to get worried now but,
I’m mainly using it a buffing wheel motor so I’m not regretting it yet. I’m wondering if you used the grinding wheel a bit, it would naturally smooth itself out to correct off centre vibrations?

I have had one for a few years bolted to bench , just took the wheel off to measure the bore ( I was thinking about better wheels but they have a bore of 15.88mm )
Does yours have a circlip behind the inside clamp plate ? mine only has a recess with a slightly higher bore going into the body. Thank you for the balancing video.

I'm going to bring it back to screwfix, both stones wobble at low speed, starting and stopping makes the whole shed shake, it won't last if used like that

I bought a Titan bench grinder ages ago now but i was put off with the vibrations i got with my Titan where it moved across the table like yours did so i just left it fully assembled but back in its box.
Having gained enough confidence to try and see if the vibrations could be fixed i came across your videos featuring the same Titan bench grinder as i have although the light is slightly different with mine but i do have the same vibrations as you had.
I hadn't even heard of the dressing tool before today so that's one thing i need to buy and i had no idea that you just moved the grinding wheel slightly round to ballance it, i just took my right hand wheel totally off and i couldn't figure out how to remove the left hand wheel nut without using the right hand wheel nut as a stop as in holding a spanner in the nut in order to loosen the left nut.
Someone in your first video said about getting a different make of grinding wheels instead of the ones that came with the Titan so would you also recommend bying a different make of grinding wheels and dumping the ones that came with the Titan bench grinder? Also if so what make of grinding wheel would you recommend instead?
I would understand if you're a little unsure of what make of wheels to recommend, i'm at a very early stage with bench grinders so any ideas would be most appreciated.

im in the same situation with mine. I'm going to have a go at dressing and turning as in this video and others I've seen. If I dont have any success I will be seeking better quality stones. these are likely to be cheaply made which could mean variations in the density of one side of a stone to the other.
I don't know what are good brands to go with but I think white aluminium oxide ones are meant to be good

Since dressing removes some of the wheel, would it work better to dress first, then balance?

      That's my thinking.
Yeah, I know this is an old post.
