One things camper-van amateur converters might neglect is the mechanical and structural aspects of the van. So a pre-purchase inspection is a must. Get a van with a good service history, and if ANYTHING is due for servicing and repair DO IT. Replace all fluids and oils. Flush first if necessary. Next, ALL consumables. A new valve timing belt, serpentine and fans belts. Coolant hoses. Any dodgly gaskets on the engine. New tires [CHECK THE DATES] not just the tread. Check [and replace] and grease wheel bearings. Brakes: master and slave cylinders and replace rubber boots. Replace brake pads on brake shoe linings. Under-body: Surface rust is not a problem, just clean to the metal and re-surface with rust resistant paint. Also replace things like windscreen wipers and door seals. This is especially true if you want to live in the van full-time. If your van breaks down, you may be without your "home" as well, until it can be repaired. Do your research. Some makes and models of van are more reliable than others. Spare parts for some European vans can be very expensive. And if you are going to remote locations, a common make of van with a good dealer network can save you a lot of waiting. People can spend months renovating the "home" part of the van, only to have it break down after a few months or even days on the road.
Wood is readily available, easy to work with, familiar with most people, easily modified. Fiberglass is nice when it's molded to fit however cutting and sawing fiberglass yourself is a pain in the but. Plastics can easily break or tear when being cut/modified.
It’s a common mistake adding too much weight in vehicle modifications. Most over- landers (Landrovers etc) add all kinds of ‘Special Kit’, only to find they get bogged down, so a they end up stripping all the new kit off!
right - therefore I am not so sure if cramming in every nook and crany isolation is a good idea. Car doors for example are meant to have some wetness inside as rain gets in and needs to dribble out at the bottom of the door. Hence a passage for the water should be planned.
Very kool indeed, something else to at least LQQK at prior to building over the floors; Check the fuel pump age & to see if the whole tank has to be dropped if you need it repaired? I ASK This b/c; There is a spot about 1 Foot x 1 Foot that's right over the tank & fuel pump. If the original pump is still in her it's best to mark the exact spot so you can get back to it if it ever needs replacing? Cutting this small square is so much easier than draining the fuel tank, dropping the tank, then changing the pump, and putting it all back in. The "Top Down" method is used on a lot of P/U Trucks & Vans and costs up to $1200 USD's to do the job. Pulling the tank is a long hard job so at least line it out so you can save money if the pump goes & they will go when least expected. Great video guys !
We have minivan KIA Carnival. After removing 2nd row seats (3rd row seats goes into the floor) with 8 ft/4 ft (2 m 40 cm long and 1 m 20 cm) interior there are huge space for full foam mattress, car fridge, cooler and a lot stuff. Long trip needs more luggage which goes into "kids" tent at the camp. Three weeks trip: Chicago-Fairbanks-Prudobay (Arctic Ocean)-Anchorage-Seattle-Portland-Chicago.
Great video! I love how detailed and easy-to-follow your instructions are - it makes the whole process feel achievable. It’s amazing to see a camper van come together from start to finish on a budget. Thanks for sharing such a helpful guide!
Wau, this white insulation stuff works great. As soon as you start to add this to the van, you take your thik jackets off. Awesome.... (that was a joke, btw). Great video. Thanks.
You know you're still early in the buikd or maybe it too late. On mine, it's this you can get your van widen the back it's about 6-7 thousand and it only add 3 inches or 6 " total. So mine I have designed that 3 " indentation as storage inside the frame, so it the sane as getting your van widen. It can be done.
Worse thing you guy's did is use Reflexit. You guy's used it wrong. I used 1/2' Foamular on my Van side panels. Also used R-13 Fiberglass insulation inside the back and side doors. Big game changer. (road & wind noise dropped) This is on a Chevy Express. I do like the woodwork.
Great job 👏 I've always wanted a camper, you make the renovation look easy, if I started this I wouldn't be finished till I was in my 80's lol well done guys you've got me thinking about a camper again 🫡
??? Tyle pracy, nie te materiały. Zero instalacji = zero autonomii. Z tego wszystkiego to muzyka najlepsza. Chcecie dobrego campera, to zamówcie w Polsce. Będzie wszystko jak w domu , w dobrej technologii i w dobrej cenie. Pojeździcie parę lat i jeszcze dobrze go sprzedacie.
I do not believe stuffing the door/panel cavities with fiber has any effect - since the bare metal on the inside will always take on the temp from the outside panels it's fixed to.

At least he can get laid in peace hell yeah
Geez just spray foam. What a nightmare you put yourselves through

Great build by the two of you! Nice minimalist van clean and roomy.
If I was going to build a van again, I would not use wood inside coverings, but insulation an clorh fabric, weighing a lot less.
I never understood why everyone has to use wood, surely there must be a lighter way ?
@@IMGTOW-rk2iiplastic or fiberglass

How fantastic to have an enthusiastic girl helping along the way.😊
Félicitations pour ce travail de pro. 👍
Condensation will quickly form without adequate ventilation

Nice to see one been build without a workshop with 50k + of tools having build 2 and made mistakes this is good tutorial
😄
Looks good ! I would have just skipped the wooden parts on the walls bc. you need every inch 😊

Ok right off the bat...great music😊 I'd let this loop just for that...but I'm seeing alot of quality attention to detail... also epic... 🎉

Isn’t it amazing how talented you are?

That was quick!
WELL DONE TO YOU. 🎉
Amazing project, well done! 👍🏻
There is no such thing as a "low cost" van. These things are outrageously priced. Even the little ones.
True, the cheaper ones have really high kms/miles and need major mechanical work.

Great job!
Nice Camper! Good for you…
Cheers for having a crack. Always gonna appreciate it more if you put in the work yourself regardless of how good it is.
Brilliant ❤
How do you change some rear light bulb when is nessesery? With a hammer?
What kind of insulation did you put on the ceiling?
I suppose it depends on what your personal definition of a campervan is😂
This is a cleaned up,insulated workvan with a bench/bed.
True, it's far from a camper van. No amenities at all, except a bed.
Joli travail, bravo
Please, link for buy the recycled bottle insulation? Thanks

A LABOR, did I say LABOR of love.
NICE 👍🏾
Cool.
Thank you

Excellent work . Should have left the wood coloring. No white paint. Otherwise you achieved good results.
Wo ist denn Wohnmobil???
Hab nur ein Transporter mit liege gesehen

Great…
More insulation could have been added between batons.
The timber cladding wastes so much space
Putting plastic just traps the moisture to rust the metal

Hello❤❤❤
Estimated cost of this project please???
All the dirt will be back in two weeks 😂😂😂

using wood planks? itsn't heavy?? just curious.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤
👍👍👍👍👍❤
It would be better if the subtitles actually matched what they were doing.
So what was the total cost to do it all?*??
Ô nhanh và đẹp vậy
Perhaps by easy you mean not finished because that all looked quite complex to me.
all the repairs to install the bed, it could have been done at the very beginning, why so much work🤷🏻♂️
😊
