  • We may have bitten off a little more than we could chew with this trek! However, the lake was absolutely STUNNING and we will be sure to visit again when it is a bit warmer!

Hello! My name is Katie Eisenmenger (pronounced eyes-en-ming-er) and my husband, Keaton, and I moved from Nebraska, USA to Christchurch, New Zealand! I wanted to make this page as a way to document this wild journey. I would absolutely love to connect with anyone that is also making the move to NZ or any Kiwis that can offer some advice along the way! As the beginning of our last name is pronounced "eyes" I thought "Eis On New Zealand" would be the perfect channel name. I can't wait to document this journey for our memories and to also share it with all of you! 😄 Feel free to follow me on instagram @katiekeis_ 🥰

Hi Katie. I loved that snowbound hike. I hope that maybe in summer you get a chance to return to the Mt John Observatory that showed briefly around midway through your clip at the top of the climb. You'll get to see the night sky through a telescope like you've never seen it before. And yes - you can drive up there!!
Secondly, but more importantly, l believe the heart murmur is simply caused by love and excitement!! The video interaction with your 'main man' is getting better and better. I think he's just a little shy. And thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us. I'm loving what you do.👍🏻💖😆

Lake Tekapo is stunning! Thank you for sharing 😊. Even though it was a tough trail to do in the snow, I’m glad you still enjoyed it! You’re an inspiration for keeping things positive! Keep it up and I’m sure that coffee at the end was glorious! ☕️

Lots of pleasant walking/hiking on the Port Hills above Christchurch when you want something close to home too.

The views are stunning. . We visited that church years ago while on a Hot Rod trip with our car club. Walking through snow is hard work and as much as I love the look of it I would rather see it from a distance these days. Just looking at the snowy Alps from my house is close enough. Hope you enjoyed the coffee at the end of your hike. :)

It was nice to choose to visit the snow instead of living in it!

You haven’t mentioned it but the New Zealand and Australian sun is brutal due to a hole in the Ozone level. You can burn badly without noticing. Please enjoy New Zealand. Just returning the favour. I once spent a month in Omaha doing an installation of equipment. I enjoyed my time there

Looks like you got a near perfect day. What did you think of the stars?

Some of the hiking times can be imaginary. We've done a lot of the shorter walks in half the time. But for the serious climbs, they seem to think we are all Olympic athletes!

Watch out with those coffees, not good for your heart. Friend ended up in hosp.with heart probs bcuz she drank too many coffees from the barrista machine at work, the caffeine helps to accelerate your heart

Visitors are always surprised that everything is so close in NZ, and that's the reason Kiwi's leave it's too bloody small😁😁
