No need to reinvent a bike. You can see how forks works on good emtb. It works in another dimension of quality. But good one costs as half of s22. The question is how hard it will be to clean up on kingsong, and how fast your will need new spares for sliders.
I think these sliders with PTFE dry lube will still outperform the suspension system on the Master due travel length and how the links are designed, also separating the rubber stops so they don't move around will help a lot, wouldn't be surprised if KS did some updated design to the slider pucks.
I feel, personally, like this video is a huge turning point in your channel. Very useful information here AND great visuals, both technical stuff and good riding vids. Consider me impressed! Subscribing in hopes to see more super in-depth content in the future.
Yes you can swap out those TIR optics with different angle lenses. They used to have optics marked as "WIDE" and they would shape the beam to the side so it didn't aim as high for use on bike paths or roads.
Not perfect but good. KS as far as I know are trying to make safe wheel, so melt your face off speed and torque does not fit their mantra. question about your pad choice. in your video about power pads the torque pads where your overall favourite, in some clips you have posted about the s22 you where using them but now in your reviews you like the lai pads better for this wheel I was wondering why what make them a better fit? thanks
Great review. Please can I ask what the power pads are called and where I can purchase a set as I have the S22 on order and I’d like to start off with the pads you suggest 👍🏻
Which version of the CST C186 did you fit? I found a 300x23, 300x17, 300x19, 300x21… and some say 3.00xXX but guess that’s the same. Is the last number the tyre size in inches?
This was hyped up as a barebones high performance wheel. Disappointing that performance seems lackluster. Needs tons of aftermarket modification to make it a comfortable ride at a $3200 price point. After waiting for 9 months, now I’m disappointed that I didn’t just get a Sherman max. More than twice the range, higher speed, better trolly, larger pad space, better screen etc. The only thing I would miss out on is a suspension design with poor quality sliders that might break anyways. Idk, I’m so torn.
The other thing was hyped by who? From what I can find, this wheel, with the exception of range (which you must apply a fudge factor to every single wheel so it's not like this is a surprise) meets all claimed specs from KS. So who exactly was hyping the wheel? People not involved in its design? You, imagining what the wheel could be? This seems like a case where the community set itself up for disappointment.
I ordered V12HT, it is upgraded V12 with better parts and more power. S22 is more offroad wheel. Depends what do you want. V12 is much more compact everyday wheel. S22 is offroad beast eating big bumps for breakfast. V12 can be my only one wheel, S22 definatelly not.

Re: "IP" rating (or any other rating or certification). Any kind of rating is expensive to get. Are you willing to add 20% (or more) to the price for ratings and certifications? I already find the cost of these devices quite high when I start looking at the (retail) cost of the included parts. The motors and rims come as a unit and are obviously not made for EUC manufacture but made for scooters, etc. I think the only parts aside from case that are specific to the EUC is the controller board, which takes a well known motor controller and adds motion sensors and overall control cpu to that (a DIY solutions has three boards). I have included the suspension as part of the case but even there the actual shock is a standard part. All of these things put limits on what performance can be achieved by the wheel. Still, I think it is the right way to go. the EUC market is not big enough to warrant making specific parts yet. So - apart from the mediocre torque, positioning of and gripping quality of the pedals, sharp edges on some surfaces and parts, poor bumper, poor stock tyre and ‘ease’ of replacement, intrinsic balance, bulk, fragility of bumper and stand, relatively cumbersome and poorly executed suspension, on road carving performance, conservative performance in terms of speed, poor back light, front light fragility and poor on-road suitability, screen positioning and information offered from it, lift switch handle ergonomics and convenience, sub-par screw material and the pad ergonomics and seat fixing, it’s got a fair bit going for it, providing you’re happy to observe or overlook these constraints and be willing to make the suggested modifications, then it’s a great to mid-range performer for the somewhat moderate range it is capable of, right? 🤔
You forgot one thing, it's a prototype so a large portion of what you mentioned will have already been corrected in the production model. But if you don't like it, you can go with another wheel, simple as that. KS won't have trouble selling the S22, just look at how much the EeeVee's guys like it, especially with the latest firmware
