Dragunity and the mist valley tribe are connected (gustos actually are the ice barrier members who settled up in mist valley) Flamvell and jurrac are connected, the flamvell are born from the souls of jurrac when jurrac meteor crashing.
I think it's quite fitting the ice barrier dragons ended up seeing meta play in other decks, since lorewise they were so powerful the ice barriers couldn't control them and they ran wild. The Ice Barriers in both lore and gameplay are far better at stopping the dragons from being summoned than they are at summoning them.

This lore is just incredible. In general, the lore behind some of those archetypes might be my favorite thing about Yu-Gi-Oh. Thank you for making these videos and telling us about those stories. I kinda see a pattern behind the points "Extra deck monsters have generic material" and "The monsters don't follow one clear goal/ gimmick (at least at first)". Maybe the original intention for them was to support whatever deck you play. When your deck was missing something, maybe there's an Ice Barrier to fill this spot. Just consider the fusion monster. "monsters with different names", not a single specific monster and not even a certain attribute/ type needed. You don't even need a fusion spell. I think especially for fusion monsters this level of "generic-ness" is pretty uncommon (well, just kinda weird, how the effect suddenly does require dragon types...)
So...anyone else wishing for a miracle and hope Konami make some games based on the stories of the Duel Monsters world? This and World Legacy would be PERFECT for massive RPG adventures!!

I love when even a deck's playstyle matches its aesthetic theme. Here you have a deck full of ice monsters called "Freezing Chains" who are from the "Ice Barrier" and they use a lockdown strategy, which essentially *freezes* the opponent's play.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but it's interesting that the dragons were so powerful they brought ruin to the world and had to be sealed away, so they all ended up on the limited list (alongside Dewloren, a monster thought to be as strong as the dragons themselves). It's safe to say they had their canonical power represented pretty well in the TCG. Trishula was so powerful that it (alongside Brionac) had to be completely banned for quite some time before being reworked (multiple times for Brionac)...almost as if they finally gained control over their wild power and allowed them to be summoned in the card game, further extending the lore to real life showing the intention for the dragons' power to be controlled. Another cool note is that they have generic Synchro Summon requirements, because the Ice Barrier couldn't control them. Nobody could. So despite their name and abilities clearly showing their affiliation with the region, the archetype wasn't strong enough to manage it. That would explain why they don't really work and why it's so hard to summon the dragons in their "own" archetype. Those dragons belong to no one. We're lucky they're legal at all, since their full power clearly would continue to wreck board states, hence why they had to errata the cards to allow them to return. Just thinking about that makes my skin crawl with existential dread
the mirror of tishula was possible even if stressful to control the two weaker dragons of the icebarrier brionac and gungir but trishula was so powerful that he shattered the mirror and regained his full power funfact the subzero is trishula true form
Now if only the Egyptian Gods from Duel Monsters could have been handled like this instead of being nerfed too much to the point that their real-world TCG counterparts did not do them justice as how they were in the anime.
Nice! One of my favorite Duel terminal lore archetypes giving a trivia. Hope the other duel terminal archetypes gets the same treatment soon in this channel.

If you wanna lock the opponent with ice barriers, cryomancer + defender= no attack for them. Also, getting Gungnir or Brionac on the field can help, but unless you have Gantala on the field, don't use defender or cryomancer for the dragons synchro summons.
