Nah I disagree yall would have won. Listen Demar was never the franchise player he was the loyal one but in the 1-2 combo it was honestly more Lowry iirc. Thing is I love kawhi but yall won that finals due to KD and Klay being hurt. Demar and Lowry were losing to Lebron James not the east. LBJ had them in a mental chokehold the raptors were scared of LEBRON nobody else, those years of 2017 and 2018 they were torching everyone who wasn’t Lebron! And Embiid a bum he wasn’t beating them even with Kawhi that shot was game 6 not even game 7. So if Lebrons gone the raptors were making it to the finals. derozan is HALL OF FAME for sure! his best years were with the raptors... he had some good play off series for the raptors too people only ever mention the bad ones, there have been many great players that have under performed in the playoffs that made HOF and never made it as far as derozan did in the playoffs. derozan scored 23 ppg on 50fg% fg shooting in the 2016 ecf aginst Cleveland, 23.5 ppg on 44% fg% in 2017 against Milwaukee in first round, in 2018 first round scored 27 ppg on 44 fg% and 38% 3p% against Washington, had some other decent series too, half of his play off series with Toronto were actually pretty good

I only really began to watch the NBA and get into basketball properly around the 2009-10 season, and though I'm a RipCity resident for life, and fan of the team, DeMar was one of the very first players in the league that I took a liking to and became a fan of. I genuinely love watching him, he's a fun, solid player despite the shit he gets all the time. I think the funnies aspect of this being the case, is I am a diehard for defense and defensive specialists, both players and teams, thus why my favorite Blazers player is Toumani Camara right now. Ironic.

I'm skeptical as to Demar Derozan being an upgrade for the Kings. It's not that I question his talent, or think that his supporting cast is lacking. It's that the style of play that the Kings have is the antithesis of how Derozan plays. The kings use a lot of passing and off ball movement. Derozan is a mid range iso player. If he can adjust, he will be OK. He's not going to put up all star numbers. If he tries to play the way he's been playing his entire career, the Kings are going backwards this year. Getting a vet with this many years in the league to change the way that they play is a tough ask. It doesn't work out very often. This looks to me like one of those trades that the name sounds good on paper, but the fit in reality isn't there.

That being said, I think his ideal role is an overqualified 2nd or 3rd option. Someone that can back you up during a slump, but isn't the main vocal point of an offence. Where he differs from Carmelo Anthony is that if the Bulls didn't collapse or LaVine proved he could be the first option on a good team, he probably would have been more than happy to take a backseat.
