This video reminds me a lot of a book I read on Kyries career I feel like you should read it too it’s “Kyrie Irving, the inspiring story of one of basketballs most versatile point guards” by Clayton Geoffrey’s. It’s almost as if the video is made after that book up to a certain point 😂
Before Kyrie, the Cavs had been taking nothing but Ls on the trade market ever since they drafted LeBron. The Cavs Front Office is like the Kings if they got lucky. That's why it required the return of someone on LeBron's level for the Cavs to go anywhere again, despite Kyrie's incredible skills.
Imo as great as a player as Kyrie was, I think him being young and being overconfident in himself and wanting to be the number 1 option was his undoing. If you playing with an unselfish legendary talent in LeBron , you do it without any problem. Because winning will come out of that. Then you go to Boston and when you are the number 1 option you fold and leave. Everybody cannot be a championship number 1 option and its okay. All that should matter is working together and winning and if you are a great player , the impact will always be there
That is completely true yet at the same time it is that drive and arrogance that makes him so great on the court so it is really a two sides of the coin issue.
Nobody wants to be known as a number 2 guy for their whole career. Just look at Scottie he’s become deluded sure but he was tired of not getting credit.
Did you not watch the video? He clearly said after the passing he didn’t have any love for the game like it was sucked out of him and didn’t know How talk about his depression
I don’t get why people say he turned his back on Boston when he said “if y’all want me back I’ll resign” but it was obvious the Celtics didn’t want him back. That team also didn’t work because lots of those young players had egos and wanted to be the robin to Kyries Batman. Can’t put all of the blame on Kyrie
Notice that to this day; Lebron still refers to winning that 2016 Chip as " What I was able to do." "I brought the first chip to Cleveland." as if its a solo sport. Kyrie still has a bad rap in the media for standing up to bron.
I never understood that either,, I mean the first seven years LeBron was with Cleveland he didn't bring them any Chips but as soon as he come back and played with Kyrie they won? So LeBron definitely didn't do it by himself..
To be honest, Kyrie wasn't even making the play-offs without Lebron. Kyrie was a great player but he didn't know how to win. Lebron did. Lebron took Cavs to the play-offs multiple times and went to the finals once before Kyrie. Kyrie would never have done that by himself. Kyrie is a Sage but Lebron is a God. Kyrie is playing next to another God now in Kevin Durant. He knows he needs these type of Godlike players next time him. He is the best number 2 Star you can ask for though.
OG you’re not being fair come on mannn… bron goes to the playoffs pretty often but only has 4 wins in nearly 20 years … and KD didnt win until he went crazy with them damn warriors… Im not saying neither them are good they’re both ELITE af, but be fair about it, no? *Every* GREAT needs a(t *least* one) GOOD and a few AVERAGEs to win… ykwis
@@noctized he should. They drafted him and Lebron absolutely could not have given Cleveland a championship without Kyrie. He has done some foul shit, but he was absolutely crucial in giving Cleveland their only championship.
I’ve always been intrigued by Kyrie’s lack of self awareness at the end of his run with the Cavs. He went from the basement of the East to competing for 2 NBA titles with Lebron. You could even say Lebron set him up in a way that enabled him to get to be the number 1 guy somewhere else, but yet he always came back at Lebron so negatively… never made sense to me how hard he bit the hand that feed him.
That's what did it for me, also. LeBron almost won the title by himself the year before against, he was that formidable. So Irving plays the next year, they win, and Irving spazzes out. I get that the "Is Lebron your daddy" question probably infuriated him. But, to the point of destroying that Cavs team? C'mon Kyrie, man, damn....
@user-xj9ht3ez7d How does someone choke in last minutes but yet have the most clutch Fgs and most playoff game winners....LeBron haters are legit autistc.
My only question is how the hell did Le’Bron manage to win and deal with him for 3 years And what sucks is everyone blamed Bron when Kyrie asked to be traded not knowing the full story
@Catherine Halsey the problem is kyrie wanted the recognition (which he was getting) and to be the “man” but instead of soaking in all the knowledge and experience of a champion like lebron he bitched up and quit. Should stayed there until bron left and maybe the cavs would’ve built around him and he could’ve displayed all the knowledge and experience he’ve learned
@@hoodfellah Nah it’s cause he was tired of the media choking on LeBron meat every second like ur doing in this comment. Will never be able to convince me that whole saga wasn’t premeditated. Lebron leaves so the Cavs can get talent. And they get three of the four first overall picks. One while having the 8th best odds, one having the 9th best odds

He is the most polarising player off the court. The most polarising player on the court is russell westbrook imo. You either love or hate russ. There is no 'aight, he's cool.' For russ. Kyrie has a steady view when he plays basketball but his personality may strike people off. Nice video.
Been binging your vids man, it brought me a lot of memories watching NBA when I was a 12. From Cavs and GSW's rivalry, Harden's career at Houston, and Carmelo at NYC. You deserve more subs!!
Kyrie reminds me of Antonio Brown in many ways. Both players might be the most skilled athletes at their positions that i have ever seen, but their off-court/off-field antics seem to get in the way of winning over the long-haul. I know circumstances are different with the two of them (AB probably has some form of CTE), but the outcome is the same - they just can't seem to get out of their own way.
The difference is Brown doesn't have to play defense in the NFL, Kyrie does, and has given lackluster efforts at it for 95% of the time he's been on the court.
@Lion78 y’all baby Kyrie cuz he can hoop his ass off. The man only stands for things that directly effect him. Sure he’s done a few activism things here and there, but so has literally every other black star athlete to some extent. He’s no martyr. He didnt lace up cuz he didn’t want to get vaxxed, and he had (rightfully so) taken time off for mental health. Kyrie is a basketball demigod but when you play good 1 in 5*, yeah it can hurt your legacy. I followed his carreer for the last 3 years, sometimes he's great, on rare occasion he is amazing but most times he's nowhere to be found or else: a liability, dragging a team down with him. * 1. Playing great or extremely well 2. Playing mediocre or straightup bad 3. Unavailable (protesting or absent without a clear reason) 4. Mentally absent (not able to deal with fasting or unable to cope with personal issues) 5. Injured or sick
In a nutshell,...Kyrie has NEVER embraced the concept of TEAM (meaning,..being a PART of something bigger than yourself). He just doesn't get it and he NEVER WILL. As gifted as he is he is destined for mediocrity. A year or 2 from now, when his carrier is OVER,...he will NEVER be mentioned in the same breath as Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, Curry, Jabbar, Magic, Thomas, Miller, Chamberlain, Robertson, etc. This men were ICONIC Basketball Players and they understood the concept of TEAM. Although their skill levels were above everyone around them they understood that no matter how GREAT you are 1 man CAN NOT single handedly win an NBA championship. They LEAD their teams to greatness. Kyrie DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT. These legends LOVED the game of basketball. They lived, ate and breathed basketball. Kyrie WONT EVEN SHOW UP TO PLAY WHEN HE IS HEALTHY!! And he is no longer a spring chicken. I don't think that he will EVER win another NBA championship. I hope he proves me wrong,...BUT I think Kyries best days are behind him. Player's, coaches, the NBA and Fans are tired of Kyrie. HE IS DONE.
It's insane how this video popped up in my recommended just a few days ago, given all the stuff going on with him right now. I really hope the current situation gets resolved soon, and that we get to see Kyrie on the court again
I was at the Cavs vs Warriors game 1. Me and my friends justified the expensive tickets by saying this would probably be the only time we’d see the Warriors in the finals. Boy were we wrong lol. This was also my first time seeing LeBron play live. Great experience.
Mans wants to be comfortable. Before, he wanted (maybe he still wants) to be that guy. No. 1 option, the hero w/o the pressure and the criticisms. After his tenure in Boston, he's at home in Brooklyn. He's a 2nd option behind KD. He's strictly business w/ the NBA becuase that is his job. Man's comfortable. Not defending nor bashing him, he has his bag, endorsements, and future. We didn't know that he'll be that person back in 2016. His true colors were were shown. Whether you continue (or start/end) to be a fan of him or not, all up to you.
Offcourt issues aside, what I hate about kyrie is his lack of drive. Mj and kobe (God rest his soul) and even lebron was not satisfied with winning just one ring. They strived to dominate, improve and polish their game. I think something happened to kyrie when they won that chip in 2016. I'm going on a limb here and say that after that historic chip, his unique mind does not care about winning rings as much as the journey towards it. This is why he flip flops between wanting to be the go to guy and being no. 3. It's like having fun playing the "choose your own adventure" book where the ending does not even matter in the long run. Have you guys noticed that the best games kyrie has played (after winning the ring) was when he was starting the season, returning from an injury or fighting for a playoffs spot? He is very motivated during these moments but if he is playing consecutively for say, more than 15 straight games or a drawn out playoff series, he will quickly lose steam and shrink. The talent is there but not the heart. EDIT. Lol told you so. He scored 40+ points in game 1 but they still lost and he lost heart immediately.
HARD agree. Alot of basketball players who grew up poor , usually have that drive and thirst for being THE BEST.. OR players are the best highschool, or college player, get drafted high only to get to the league and no longer be the best, and lose it. Kyrie is the second one, he was great, drafter 1st, only to get into the NBA and have a cold hard wake ip call that he actually ISNT the best basketball player, instead of deiving him to work harder, he seems to go to well why even try, its not possible, but as long as im not the WORST (i was like this all through highschool, its such a mediocre mentality)
@@MoNehNeh17 That's BS he obviously cares about basketball it's just everything around the basketball is what got to him. The fact that it's a business made Kyrie care less about the game cus he was going thru tough stuff in his life and he probably felt sick of how for everyone else basketball was more important
Lol, Kyrie literally got better every season after the 2016 chip except 2019. Even in Brooklyn he’s probably playing his best basketball to date. This heart and drive narrative is so hyperbolic and dumb. If you look at what he’s doing you wouldn’t say what you said

Love these videos can you make one about derozan?
Imagine if Kobe saw himself as only a sidekick to Shaq you must bet on yourself always if you wanna be great
Did you not watch the video? He clearly said after the passing he didn’t have any love for the game like it was sucked out of him and didn’t know How talk about his depression
I don’t get why people say he turned his back on Boston when he said “if y’all want me back I’ll resign” but it was obvious the Celtics didn’t want him back. That team also didn’t work because lots of those young players had egos and wanted to be the robin to Kyries Batman. Can’t put all of the blame on Kyrie
This guy has the best basketball content on TH-cam. Love your videos bro
Notice that to this day; Lebron still refers to winning that 2016 Chip as " What I was able to do." "I brought the first chip to Cleveland." as if its a solo sport. Kyrie still has a bad rap in the media for standing up to bron.
So true he never mentions Kyrie

My only question is how the hell did Le’Bron manage to win and deal with him for 3 years
And what sucks is everyone blamed Bron when Kyrie asked to be traded not knowing the full story
The media literally asked him if he saw LeBron as a father figure and when the Cavs won in 2016 it was all The King brought a championship back home.
*
1. Playing great or extremely well
2. Playing mediocre or straightup bad
3. Unavailable (protesting or absent without a clear reason)
4. Mentally absent (not able to deal with fasting or unable to cope with personal issues)
HARD agree. Alot of basketball players who grew up poor , usually have that drive and thirst for being THE BEST..

players are the best highschool, or college player, get drafted high only to get to the league and no longer be the best, and lose it.
