Hi, your videos are very helpful - I had a full rupture last October and just found your videos which is quite a shame as I missed out on important info I could have used during those early stages. I'm at the stage I can do two leg calf raise but just don't have the strength to do move on to one, so I guess I'm at a stage where this video comes in. My injured calf is still a lot smaller than the good one, I don't know if that's an indication I'm ready (or not) for this stage of rehab. Unfortunately, my rehab has been very slow and at times one step forward and two steps backwards as I push a little too much and have to give it a rest to allow the tightness to go away. One last thing is, if I do "self"-Thompson test, plantarflexion on the injured side is far less than the good leg, especially when it feels too tight after pushing it too much. Is that something I should be worried about? I mean, does plantarflexion not recover to its full extent as soon as achilles tendon is fully attached to themselves? Many thanks in advance.
Hi, I had a rupture 18 months ago…I’ve done a lot of these exercises (did first two Knee over Toe Guy programs over past year). I still have a lot of weakness in affected Achilles, still can’t do an unassisted calf raise full range of motion, seems 1/2-3/4 rom. I can notice constant swelling or maybe it’s just scar tissue. Any thoughts? Wondering if severe scar tissue doI need to consider surgery or will this just be the way it is? I can run generally well.
Really difficult to say and give specific advice. Always best to get it assessed and discuss with a professional if there are any amendments you can make to rehab. Majority of ruptures do not achieve symmetrical strength unfortunately and a lot do take a slightly different shape post injury!
I have my reservations over knee over toe guy. Pretty sure he isn’t qualified in way shape or form to assess or rehab injuries. What works for him may not work for others.
Unfortunately it’s not a one size fits all and the topic can be discussed for hours. Additionally it depends on difficulty of exercise. Broadly speaking , preference for strength training is around x 3 weekly. 2- 4 sets of 10 for familiarisation (depends if you’re treating Joe Jogger or an elite athlete). Aiming for Reps to a degree fatigue anywhere between 10-20 will suffice with most routine patients.
@@sportrehabguide Hello ! You are a professional in what you do. I follow you with pleasure. I also had a ruptured Achilles tendon and had surgery on 07/06/2022. I did not start recovery until 3 and a half months (on 15.11.2022) after the operation. Immediately after the operation, some 4 weeks later, I asked the doctor who operated on me if I could start the recovery and he said that it is not ok so early. After I got a little interested in the situation, I started doing exercises to recover the Achilles tendon. Now I can do almost any exercise with the leg I had surgery on. It's just that I have a problem that bothers me. After I finish the exercises and sit in one place or sit down, my ankle and the side of my foot hurt. Somewhere in the muscle on the side. It's as if I feel it in a corset from the ankle down and it hurts when I step on it. What would be the problem? 🤷♂️ Sometimes it bothers me a lot and I can barely step on it. Is it because the foot muscle is not worked enough? Bearing in mind that I didn't do exercises with him until 3.5 months after the operation. Thanks !

THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I started feeling the difference! 😭😭😭👌🏻

Hi mate, what kind of rep range would you recommend for how many sets a day/week?

@sportrehabguide135 I thought that might be the case but cheers for the general info and exercises, really helpful 👍
