  • Winning fights in Battle Brothers is the hardest part of the game, but it can be made significantly easier if you have better tools available. Many new players, purely because of inexperience, don't have good rosters and thus suffer through battles. This video aims to aid them in avoiding common mistakes I see.

    That obituary ran into 2 screens. If there was a good bro somewhere, he's likely orc fodder by now.
    For a novice player, I can only add that success breeds success. It's one thing to win battles, coming ahead in the exchange is more important. The story of a long obituary page and only noble army tier gear (no golden) means battle results are phyrric.
    Killing is part of battle business, more important is taking things with the highest chance to win.

      the number of enemies (and therefore the difficulty of fights) increase based on how many brothers you have. i think the numbers increase by "milestones" like 8 bros, 10 bros and 12 bros (could be wrong though). generally, the plan is to keep as few bros as possible until you're comfortable in fights. only then do you start looking for more bros. i think for half my campaigns, i don't even reach 8 bros at day 70-90.
      spamming a large number of fodder bros (like the militia start) will get you destroyed more often than not.

      @@deettee6794 I'm running 20 bros and I haven't noticed an increase in the enemy numbers or difficulty. It's only day 60 tho and I keep my bros in the sweet spot of level 4-7. I pick my fights and only take 1-2 skull contracts. I can take a 3 skull but I'd lose half my bros and it's just not worth it for an extra 400. I did notice that the game gets ridiculously harder when your bros are around level 9-11. I think I will cut back to the top 10-12 bros once they all hit level 7 or 8. That said... The hardest part of the game for me is before leveling up level 3 bros and after level 7 bros.

    This video was very helpful. I watched it while I was deep into my second play through (and realized a lot mistakes that I had made) and for my third play through I applied lessons learned and really breezed through the game. I'm now early in the post game and optimizing my team's gear. I've been playing around with Nimble + Battleforged builds for my frontline especially, picking up battleforged at level 10 or 11 in the late game when I have a lot of crowns to invest. With noble mail (+20 durability werewolf attachment) and a barbute helmet, you can run a solid 180 body and 190 head armor with a total of only -24 fatigue. That's enough armor to make battle forged reduce armor damage by about 20% and still take only about 55% health damage. In combination, that's roughly a 65% damage mitigation. Collosus gives you a bigger health pool (and often saves your life at level 2) which synergizes well with nimble, again without adding fatigue. Because my gear isn't fatigue intensive, I didn't have to put many points into fatigue, and wasn't neccessarily required to get any of the fatigue related skills. Noble mail and a Barbute Helmet are expensive, but you can outfit your whole group with them for about the same amount as outfitting two bros with top tier Battle forged gear. In terms of effective HP, a bro with this build is similarly tanky to a full battle forged character, but there is so little investment in terms of where your points need to go, that you can make a bro with this build do things in addition to tank. And most importantly, because it's primarily a nimble build, you get that extreme power spike in the mid game which you miss out on with a battle forged build. Have you played around with using both battle forged and nimble on characters before?

    • @andrewpeli9019
      @andrewpeli9019 ปีที่แล้ว

      By having a full frontline with this build, you also don't have to worry as much about resolve, since they can move in formation and not get surrounded. You also have much better initiative since you don't take the penalty for excessively heavy armor, which makes the dodge skill more desirable and the damage tends to get spread around, which is really nice for healing and repairing after the battle.

  • @CorruptorPeste
    @CorruptorPeste 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Initiative is the stat who needs more experience. At first you can use it with dodge and relentless (always relentles because on round 3 you get nothing from dodge) but later you don´t look for great bros, you look for a great army at your command, and there is when initiave really comes to play.

    Overall great video, just want to talk a bit more about this and that.
    Gifted is not only great for early game, but it can help a lot good brothers as well. Recruits like retired soldiers, swordmasters, farmhands, nomads can be great, but lack hp, fat or resolve and therefore they can drop like flies even in the backline.
    Also it's fine to level up ini if guy has good rolls there but not in more important stats, although it's mostly a boost to dodge for mediocre bros.
    Last point is that I get rdef is meh... but sometimes decent bros are just magnets for arrows and giving them couple of good rdef rolls solves the issue. Especially true for ranged bros, wildmen or nobles.

    • @CarveaHole
      @CarveaHole  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Mathematically, dodge benefit from initiative is worse than even +1 mdef directly, so even there if you're picking it, you're doing so for other reasons (going first in some fights, or builds that specifically rely on it for other things too). At least as a glance, it's less attractive than alternative upgrades for a mediocre guy in most cases.

      swords and spears are your friend early game. Don't be afraid to retreat rather than getting wiped out. Learn the morale system and how you can get enemies to flee. And invest in some throwing weapons. Having dogs or crappy brothers to sacrifice is also important. Should see you through early to mid game no problem. Final piece of advice is pay for veteran training at the training hall on your better brothers.

Could it not theoretically proc 6 checks in 1 turn? Unless they have changed it (been a good while since i attempted thisl), it only procs once per attack from the THF. Even if it did proc 6 times in total i would argue that you could just have killed the enemy two turns sooners if you had an actually good weapon instead (assuming you're fighting armored enemies and not brigand scrubs)

    • @CarveaHole

      only trigger once even with that flail
      the text says... for every ATACK
      the flail has one attack and 3 hits, this explains the reason when you have HEADHUNTER and use the 3flail if you hit head with the first, the second will always hit and the third does not...and your bro does not have the proc icon , its because in that attack the firt triggered, second used the status and you ended without any proc HEADHUNTER for next attack because the text say, is your next lands, it hits head... and is not ... your next attack hits head.
      game Mechanics knows difference form action ATTACK and from situation HIT

    • @crog2003
      @crog2003 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is some confusion with the 3H flail. If all three flail heads hit and you have fearsome, the first hit will proc a moral check if 1 HP damage is done, the second and third hit will only proc a moral check if 15HP damage or more occurs on the hit. For any moral check, the fearsome debuff to the enemy resolve applies. The issue with the 3H flail is the damage is split between the 3 hits, the weapon doesn't do high damage, and has bad armor penetration. With two swings, duelist, and 6 hits, 2 moral checks are probable, 6 is possible but unlikely. Of course if you find a good famed one it becomes more likely. If you want to have fun with the 3H flail, duelist, and fearsome go for it!
      Note split man works the same way, however 2H axes are high damage and high armor penetration making them a better option for procing two moral checks, and doing great armor/HP damage. Barbarian 2H is the best non famed axe to combine with fearsome because of the armor penetration.
      Check out this article if you want to get into the mechanics of how fearsome works, best perk reference article I've found in terms of all the details. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2001196860

    Good edits and voices buddy! This being Battle Brothers it is a game built on succeeding with a sub optimal company, you are just a bunch of normal Gits trying to make a place in the world for yourselves! However when they money rolls in and you can slowly build up those world eaters it is quite nice. Really he isn't being rude, but it is also ok to have a roster that sucks, it is the beauty of this game having the main characters be ones that you choose and none of them are legendary heroes.

  • @TheMelnTeam
    @TheMelnTeam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am also (very) new to the game...couple days now. I get the impression that a lot of these could have been much more effective with the same starting stats, invested differently.
    I know you've talked about fatigue neutral polearm guys before with pathfinder + spec. A 1-star 55 melee at level 1 (some cheap backgrounds get that, even some of the peasant militia start have it) has expected 80 matk before gifted/backstabber at level 11. So if nothing else, you could hand those types of guys a polearm and smack something every turn, hitting most of the time with high accuracy...at least before shield walls and such factor in. If you have these in nimble gear/colossus/dodge/nimble, they can also be given utility options depending on other stats (fearsome at high resolve like you might see from miners, quick hands if you have reasonably high fatigue and want to have an option to burst damage out, rotate to save teammates since colossus + dodge + nimble + low fatigue is respectable mdef if you also invest in that stat, depends what you need). Some of these guys can roll poorly, but some can also roll well and wind up with > 90 mtk using level-ups and gifted, which should start hitting pretty often with backstabber adding 5% or sometimes 10% if you can get 1 range dudes on the target first.
    Reading up on some of the other builds available to talented brothers, many of the others have better high-end utility...indomitable tanks or brothers that can output a ton of damage quickly then do things like get a berserker kill + use recover off the AP gain. But having something that lucky-rolls or surviving starting guys can still do that matters late game seems useful.
    Also, from what I can tell gifted is respectable value on all but the best base stats + roll guys even into late game. It's an unconditional boost to matk, mdef, and/or whatever else you need. Some perks give a bit more conditionally, but for builds that aren't completely perk-starved I would expect it to compare reasonably to 10th or 11th best perk on a full level 11 build late game for a lot of brothers.
    I don't think any perk distribution or non-lotto roll can salvage the true woofers though. You get something like 45 matk, < 50 ranged attack, and nothing impressive to work with in terms of mdef/resolve to tank at level 1 and it's not clear how to spec fodder that lives. You could in theory do fast adaptation + dagger spec + overwhelm or something, but sooner or later you're outnumbered and just spamming one guy's stats down isn't something that scales. Having a guy who can do it is better than nothing until replaced, I guess, and still more useful than some of these. Maybe there are some edge cases too, like a guy with only high base resolve running 3 pronged flail with adaptive strikes (only useful for 1 hit, but still) and smacking stuff in the head with fearsome. Seems like a "less useless" type of setup rather than a good one for low stat brothers though. Probably best to just not carry guys who start with that bad of stat distribution.

    • @nicholasgraves3149
      @nicholasgraves3149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problem with guys dedicated to just swinging a polearm once per turn is that polearms simply don't do very good damage. Those characters can work for a while, but if half your roster is still using pikes at day 100, you're gonna turn into orc food pretty quickly.

      Its more a thing that, when more you play, more you know when is good, and when not.
      For example, I had in my last run, a guy with 75 something MA at level 11. Yep, not so good, but that brother had Brute + Huge, so, every hit at the head (I build him as Frail/axe), he does 25% more damage than someone without this perks. Its good? Meh, because his attack is a bit low, but I didnt find any bro better with this 2 traits. Another example was an indepted with 85 MA, 30 MD at level 11 with a horrible Resolve of easily 35 (with the resolve perk included). Yes, this guy its just horrible (had also a low life) but as BF 2H was a beast and agaisnt humanoids, undead (dont put him agaisnt priest or geisht) and orcs, and also, you dont need to pay him. But he just no so good, and others can be better. But he survived more days than other guys that had better potential.
      So, in conclusión, its a bit of all. Sometimes 1/2 good perks, make the bro good, some others are a natural talents at the good places (like my indebted how had stars in attack, defense and I dodn't remenber the third one), some others, you had a good bro that its incredible in one thing (I had a 3star fatigue to one wildman, with high rolls to fatigue so I build him as a BF without brawny)

    The think is like i know my roster is not good for late game. But you know you want to get a good brother so that you can do harder quests, get more money and get more experience. The problem that i have is that in order to get thouse brothers in a reasonable time you hire from a decent background: farmeheand, squire, militia, thief, and they are not bad characters, at least they are better then what you have so far, but not late game characters and he costed like 80% of you total gold, so for now he remains in the company. They you tray to replace him with someone else but he is not better or worse, so not really a way to pick between ether of them. And it gose on and on untill you find out you have been carieng a team that strugles to get to Matt 70 by levle 7.

    What is wrong with having your frontline mainly being equipped with shields+skill and a tier3 weapon+the matching weaponskill? I have had lots of success on higher difficulties fighting in formations with handgonnes in the secondary doing the killing and the frontline just keeping the enemy busy especially in the holy war with tons of enemies where you tend to get overwhelmed. Aimed for late game.

    • @CarveaHole
      @CarveaHole  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your team's damage output is far lower than it would be if you dropped shields for duelists/2h bros. This is a large reason nobles are underpowered (also because they shieldwall all the time). When you're 12v25+, you need to not get overwhelmed.
      I imagine that you've tried 2h + duelist comps, so what do you think of the difference? If you haven't, try it. I had my mind opened the first time I switched from all shields to all 2h lol

      I have not tried duelists in the frontline because of survivavility concerns. Against humans all your no shielders just tend to get shot to pieces. I think its about how your army composition is built. Against humans mine works fine but agains the undead not so much. If the handgonners do 1000 damage and the front just holds its just as valid but im too afraid to try crazy stuff to be honest :D Being late game it really sucks if your good guys die or get cripppled.@@CarveaHole

    This mans opinions is from near 5k hours in Battle Brothers. I haven't played since beginning, but I have been around since the first dlc drop.
    And let me share some good advice for anyone who is willing to sit down. Buy a round, shut up and listen. If you're a learned bookworm. Take some notes.
    Lesson one: You are a mercenary captain. Leading men to fight for coin, for battle field plunder. And to survive to swing your swords for another day.
    Don't get attached to your brothers, all brothers are like pieces and pawns on a chess board. Gotta accept that bullshit can happen at any time and any brother may be felles in battle. The sooner you can come to acceptance of this fact, the better you can cope, learn and move on.
    Lesson 2: Money. Throughout your career, money money money is key to your company. You will, if you live. Spend million of crowns on tools, ranged ammunition. Medical supplies, food. Buying various equipment, a half priced mail hauberk at a keep you visited. Or a nice billhook or cleaver for 400 crowns cheaper then at the blacksmith.
    But always remember this.
    Always way the cost of a contract vs your men's lives and the possibility to loose equipment. That hauber you spent 700 crowns on? Plus tools. Make that 900 crowns. The cost of the brother. Maybe it 1200 crowns. If the contract is only 900 and he gets slain. And you loose both the gear and brother. Thats a big net loss.
    And always keep a wooden round shield, a pair of ghoul teeth or a bear head cap from the barbarians of the north.
    It sells for one hundred crowns, but those fat fuck merchants only buy at 10%. So for every 100 crowns of worth, its in actuality. 10 crowns. So its best to sell your booty and swag, your haul of gear. When the price is 15+ and more. Thats certain profit. If you can't thats fine.
    There are whats considered "Tiers." Different levels of equipment. You have milita spear's, short swords. Gambesons, leather armor. Etc. All that is tier one. Its values arent exactly the most profitable to repair and sell. For price of tool ratio if you pick it off a brigands corpse.
    Tier two. Here's where the shiny be at. Chainmail armors, boar spears. Falcions. Handaxes. Scramasax's. Bastard swords. Flails. Military picks n the like. This is your bread and butter, fix it up. And sell it.
    Tier 3. This is the higher tier of chainmails. 170+ body armor n head armor. Arming swords.
    Tier 4: Big farkin' greatswords, axes n hammers. Warhammers. Fightin' axes n spears. Plate mail. The stuff worth thousands of crowns to purchase.
    Repair everything tier 2 and up. You'll thank me one day.
    And heres a bonus advice, free of charge. Repair all weapons ork. Goblin. Ancient undead. And ancient undead armor (not auxilitary shit.).
    Lesson 3: Fightin' ain't far. Nor should it. You ain't an honorable man. If you was, you'd be in a monestary readin' books and not fightin' for fat merchants 'cause their prized amulet was stolen by disgruntled workers turnt brigands.
    Or sent to be meat shields in noble armies.
    So learn to cover your men's asses, stick em' close. And not reckless sally forth a brother by himself. If one brother fights one man, stick another brother and make it unfair.
    See.. Brothers swing their weapons better when they are side by side. If they have shields. And a brother needs defending. Shield wall together. Makin' it stronger.
    And if you got any dogs. Stick 'em on the flanks. Which would you rather get slaughtered by a barbarian chosen? A dog costing maybe up to 700 crowns. Ot a brother whos gear you spent 4000 crowns on. Who gets decapitated or their head 'mashed in?
    Dogs are expendable. As cruel as it is, but good poochies are everywhere. Good solid fightin' men. Not so much.
    Lesson 4: Recruitin'.
    I noticed recruits in fancier, sturdy gear. Tend to be more expensive, so that sellsword in chainmail with a two handed sword? He ain't worth the 3000 crown. Tis the sword n armor. Discuss how much his daily wage is. Thats where ya find if they're worth anything.
    (Or you could just save, recruit everyone in a town. And see if anyones got desirable traits/skills. If not, reload and move on. In Ironman mode. enter a town, exit then back into the town. Recruit the towns manpower, check 'em. Alt tab or control delete, alt f4. Close the game without exiting the menu's in the town. then load it back up. Thats how you can save scum.(

    Hey Carve, I've been playing a while, 600+ hours, and I've found a couple things you said interesting ( it is a beginner guide and I recognize who its aimed at) However I still wonder A)What is Exponential returns on melee defence, I don't quite get the math, B) As Ive played more and my movements have gotten more refined and efficient I've found I've needed way less fatigue than I once thought I did, even on bers duelists 55-60 works more than well, and without bers 40-50 is just fine, and C) What makes colossus better than nine lives? I have never noticed a situation where colossus would have saved a life that nine lives wouldn't, and while colossus prevents injurys, If battle brothers is a game about getting to hard fights and making it out, I find nine lives gives me more options and opportunity for aggression, which is what wins fights, however I feel I'm missing a spectrum on the argument and was wondering why you recommend colo on everyone? (This is a beginner guide, and some of these statements may be sweep alls that work when your starting out, which I respect progress wise and helping people, however deep seated objective advice stays with players, I've spent A solid chunk of my time playing breaking habits of outdated or overly objective data I got from tips when I was starting.)

    • @nicholasgraves3149
      @nicholasgraves3149 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colossus is effective HP. Combined with nimble for many brothers with non god tier backgrounds, if drastically boosts the amount of rolls you can fail and the pawn still live. If a pawn with nine lives gets nine lives to activate, they are likely still going to die either on the same turn or next turn. Being able to live one killing blow sounds good on paper, but the AI targets weak pawns. It is very likely that there are still multiple attacks coming towards that pawn in the same turn after nine lives activates. Also, if nine lives has activated, that pawn likely already has an injury or three, and is further less likely to survive. Combined with this all, you basically need rotate to be able to save a pawn that has nine lives that has activated, and while rotate can be a good perk for new players learning the game, it is absolutely a crutch and is not worth it on experienced builds.

      Hey Rick!
      A) there are graphs that show how your effective HP scales according to your points in mdef, and the curve is exponential. Check Sins for it.
      B) statement or question?
      C) Ideally nine lives doesn't proc right? If I play well then in 9/10 battles or more I won't have to proc nine lives. Colossus gives you more HP which prevents injuries, which prevents bros from sitting out of fights. If you have an HP target, then BF bros can spend more rolls on stam cause you got all that HP from one perk. Nine lives is cool and has it's uses, but it often is worse than colossus because you won't need it.

    Hello... I m by no means a veteran and i m still learning the game but i have to kind of disagree on your opinion on taking weapon mastery mostly at lvl 11...in early / mid game an stronger armor that you just looted is very valuable and your Bros still dont have much FAT to go around. So even if the mastery doesnt give a great extra benefit i think that 25% fat reduction cost really piles up in longer fights. However so far i dont like or take the spear mastery cause it seems a starting weapon and rather situational ( although spearwall is powerful at zoning out enemies the fatigue cost wears you down fast). So my point is that in every prolonged fight the with a weapon with base attack 12 FAT u are saving 3 FAT per hit ... if u swing that sword 10 times its essentially 30 extra FAT you wouldnt have and in early levels it seems not very efficient taking Recover so there is no way to gain FAT except waiting. My point is that the reduction cost seems small but it really piles up and shows in fights like vs Wiedergangers , Fallen hero mix ... your thoughts ?

    • @CarveaHole
      @CarveaHole  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Things like dagger or polearm mastery (and throwing) are good to unlock early because they massively improve the performance of bros, but I stand by that other perks offer more short term utility than weapon spec does (i.e. nimble/BF, fearsome, underdog, antic, pathfinder, dodge, etc). That's like 7 generalist perks for any bro that would help, most are obviously more impactful than spec.

      No, with nimble it's better to take dodge+relentless as your guaranteed to have high initiative for wearing light armour (Unless your brother has the hesitant or paranoid trait) If you take brawny you'll only save 10 stamina max.

    • @rafaelcastor2089

      Depends on how heavy you want the armor to be (full nimble ain't worth it if you don't have shitton of HP), how much stam the character has, and if you are doing fat neutral or not.
      I'd say that in the majority of cases, no, it isn't the best call, but you could justify it for a few bros and you can definetly justify it if you come across some good named armor

    Don't know why someone won't understand your point about melee attack being more prevalent over melee defense. Back line will appreciate melee defense but don't actually require it to work, thus depending on the formation - all non-dedicated ranged (only) will need melee attack, while some part of the band (namely, the back-liners) won't need defense.
    Additional build for experienced players which can use Shield Expert are the relieve/support brothers with cleaver/whips. Nimble build - shield and whip/cleaver in hand with Dodge, Rotation and Overwhelm - they are good to have in normal sized companies (not limited to 12 recruits) and (for me) a must for the bigger sized such as the Peasant Militia and Manhunters origins.

    Watching a bit the roster, I can see that this player made the mistake to do Late game builds in early game. No Fast Adaptation (that make useless bros to no so useless), no Gifted, giving them near all the team Fortified Mind (it's not a bad perk, and agaisnt Exes and Geiths, are very usefull, but you want brothers that can kill, resolve anyway it's important, but with a shitty Bro, between FM and FA, I prefer FA), or forgetting Backstabber to improve the chances to hit.
    They are not ideal Bros (more if you don't use mods), but at level 9 with nearly all your bros with less than 70 MA, it's not a good roster.
    13:04 I had a game where more than 20 brothers died in less than 50 ingame days. If you company it's wasting more money than you earn, you company just doesn't work (also your strategy). The best result is that everyone survived, you earn raider gear and your cripples and beggars can have FA, making them, less useless. But losing a bro, also if it's a beggar with shitty attack and defense, can be dangerous for the moral hit (and the moral bonus of your enemy). I'll be a pitty that the criplle how died, make that 3star good bro decide to start thinking to run (from 10 to 20% less armor and attack change) if not run and get killed for that.
      Anyway, if 1 beggar life, can be enchanged for 2 raiders sets or 50/70 armor, well, that's an earning. Not if 4 of them die for the same results. That armor cost you 400/500 coins of blood + paying new recruits level 1 (400/500) making the sacrifice, nearly 1k coins.

    Better advice i can give is play the game before sees any guide. Experience from erros are the better teacher and you will find new ways to play the game.
    Another important thing, BROTHERS DIE. No matter how good he is, one turn you look aside and he is dead. So the decent brothers are the best, don´t scracht your head if you don´t have that 3 stars allmighty. Everyone have his place, at least for a short time if you know what i mean.

      @@CarveaHole no it's one of the base stats... I feel like you are messing with me XD I'm so gullable. Maybe we are just calling it different things. In the game intuition is what is says for me. Bottom left in stats. I feel like I'm being bamboozled.
      When you use the Dodge skill it takes 25% (I think) of your intuition and adds it to both ranged and melle Def stats, which in turn increases Dodge chances. Also on top of this it means wearing heavier armour and action in general use less fatigue with the brawny skill, meaning you can use more actions every match before your dudes become exhausted and can change the turn order in your favour as well. Again I think your probably being sarcastic, but in the case your not I hope this helped :)
      Side note that if you are making a swift character dont take brawny as it doesn't stack. I think Dodge dies tho, correct me if I'm wrong!

      The band showcased here is in a slow doom spiral. Lost too much resources in men and equipment to beat the crisis curve every 80 days. If the best available are basic mail, pikes and worse, I'd say a restart and get good tactically is in order.
      In short, keep winning upwards. Recognise possible doom loops and avoid. These are bad contracts, bad engagement and bad exchanges.

    What do you mean "don't take initiative"? O_o Are you crazy?! How else can you get Evasion actually work? How else can you get tank with around 100 mdef? How else can you make Overwhelm work? How else can you step in, smash someones face and kick his arse on the next turn before he can retaliate? (Adrenaline, sure, I know - and then you stand there out of fatigue with no Evasion. Yeah... Thanks, but no. 🙂)

      Instead of hiding importance of initiative from beginners why not tell them that it used to calculate Dodge at least? Ok, may be beginners suck at tactics and understanding turn order (sometimes (quite often) they actually not: beginner !== stupid), but instead of "don't bother" you could say something like "it may be little bit complicated, but for now just know that initiative is used for Dodge, so if you taking Dodge then pay some attention to initiative". After all it's there, in the stats list. It 's also mentioned in some perks description. Why denying beginners from it?

      @@1kvolt1978 The "..." you're leaving out is critical to the actual argument I make. I LITERALLY say initiative is "incredibly important" lmao.
      At 5:18 I say "You don't ever level initiative when you don't understand all the stuff in the game, and initiative is lower on that list." Saying *all* the stuff is hyperbole, but the point is not to ignore initiative but to not spend stat points on leveling it. You contradict yourself, saying beginners aren't stupid while implying that they also can't read the Dodge description without my help. I am saying exactly what you are saying, to understand that it's important while not leveling it because it's too complicated for beginners. Please listen more attentively.
