I'ts not shown here, but Ghim dies right after the fight due to exposure to Karla magic, and even though Leylia (girl used as a vessel by Karla's ghost within the tiara) is saved, Woodchuck ended up possessed by Karla. It always pissed me off that nobody even cared about what happened to him and party went on with their quest like he wasn't even member of their party.
@@jacobo_fungus_farmer if he cared only about stealing, he would leave the party long ago - he did not. He was a decent guy who got left behind by his team mates.
The original Lodoss War DnD transcripts, the light novels, and the anime were all very influential on Japanese sword-&-sorcery media. That would be almost impossible to do today, while anime is overstuffed with Isekai and any fantasy show that tries to be different from usual is instantly compared to Game of Thrones, but I think a Lodoss War movie, done well, could renew interest in _cinematic_ sword-&-sorcery, which has seen nothing but duds ever since Lord of the Rings and the first two Narnia films.
Too complicated mate... It is a good point of view and I am agreed but we have witnessed what happens to this kind of shows like Dark Crystal : age of resistance, blood of Zeus, etc...
Only if the original hard-core staff were involved.. any attempt of trying to modernize it (especially character design, and cheat with CG) would ruin the vibe instantly

If you think about it, the typical image of an axe-wielding Dwarven warrior doesn't make much sense: why give someone who already has a reach disadvantage a small weapon? Ghim mainly using it as a throwing axe makes a ton of sense.
@@TheNwahDango I'm aware of the origin of it. I do think it fits in terms of characterization and worldbuilding; I'm just saying that I like that Ghim mainly uses it as a throwing axe to overcome the reach disadvantage.
I would say since dwarves value strength and resilience, the axe and hammer would be iconic images and weapons that represent that. Plus dwarves are plenty strong, and an axe would only amplify the kind of damage they do.

I only played a bit of the game but it was quite fun, though it seemed to have little if anything to do with the plot of this show. Check it out if you enjoy this kind of anime, there are dungeons as well as dragons.
@@anderfu8273 That.... doesn't happen, no. At least not in this OVA, it has quite the classical happy ending. Although Deedlit is an elf, so it'd make sense that she would out-live all the human characters. Now that would be sad.

Wonder Labyrinth is actually the start of the new book run that tells a new story in Lodoss with Deedlit being the only returning character. This new book series started releasing earlier this year. Its called The Crown of the Covenant"

My favorite parts from that encounter is the interlude where Karla explain to Parn what happened to her land and why she does what she does, and he is tempted to see her, but remembers the image of his father going to war and stays true. And she says something like "I have no use for pawns who won't be moved." It was a great line. I also never cared too much for the thief, but I liked the scene how ppl were grieving over Ghim and he's scowling and upset but doesn't want to show it... sadly the last we saw of our thief as he was.
@BullHorse33 This anime, for me, is peak character design, facially. It doesn't get any better than Deedlit and what a fantastic job they did with her expressions.
Hello. I´m trying to upload a review of Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Laberynth in Spanish, and youtube ( Kadokawa ) is taking down mi vid. i re-edited my vid 3-4 times. And for 3 mins or so from the OVAS, they are faking all my job. Any advice you can tell to me? Maybe i have to put little clips, because it´s useless to use full secuences longer than 5-10 sec. I tried to resize the ova vid part, and reverse. Nothing is working. Tomorrow is another day, for now i go to bed. Cheers !
They took down my other Lodoss War videos as well, despite them being edited. Unfortunately the only solution I've found is to only use 2-3 second clips, but even that's not guaranteed to not be blocked.
Seemed kinda anticlimactic with all that action being built up and her being defeated so easily. Should have been an extended fight with more layers of effort added onto it
Are you aware of how copyright works? If you want to watch the whole show, buy it or pirate it like I do. If TH-cam allowed me to upload the whole thing, I would have. It took about 10 or so re-edits of this scene before youtube would take it. They deleted my other Lodoss war video. Be appreciative and then leave me alone.
