    The women and the 50 tour have become my fav bowling to watch. They're all waaaaay better then I'll ever be but I still feel like I can take away more examples and lessons to make my own game better then say the mens tour.

    Not a question but more like a thank you. I paid for a virtual with Baker pre covid. I am 1 handed no thumb (6'5 270ish) and he suggested bowl like Tom Daugherty. So I started to do that and I was getting grief from my PSO however I finally committed to it. Doing so I have increased my average up to 220+ and threw 2 300s in a 3 week span (only having 4 total prior).
    So its more of a thanks to Baker.

    Love the part about setting up incorrectly to try and keep your hand behind the ball. I am guilty of that. Trying to figure out the best way to set up so I can end up with my hand on the inside of the ball naturally.

    I don't know if questions are going to be looked at in the comments of this video but here goes:
    When I throw 2 handed I can get really fast on the approach but my ball speed would only reach 15. But I can reach 18 and 19 if I use my shoulder muscles slightly while keeping my arms entirely loose. Is that wrong? I'm just as consistent doing that as I am when I bowl much slower so maybe that's a testament to my beginner-ness, but it has worked for me in the past. I could stay right for longer and then when transition happened, I was in a much more comfortable place than the other 2 handers who started out game one, standing on 25.

    The part about watching the women is so true. I’m older and I don’t have the physical prowess of the men bowlers, so in essence I throw more like the women. Even when I watch ball reviews I like to watch Elise of Nate and Elise because I can relate to the way she throws and the balls she like to throw.

    Question about targeting. Do you recommend looking at the arrows or something close to you? I know a great local Bowler (230-240 avg) who only looks at an area at the breakpoint regardless where he stands on the lane and I am wondering how common that is.

  • @markhendrix745
    @markhendrix745 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have a question but not sure if this will make sense.. if you say you shouldn’t throw the ball by say muscling it down the lane to add speed.. isn’t trying to throw it alone doing kind of the same thing? I am 6’9 and my speed is more than most people so how would I slow it down without muscling it down?

    How often should we get new bowling balls? I often try not to buy any new balls if what im using is working because they are expensive. Currently, I have a few balls and it seems like I'm starting to see them die. Most of the time the 2nd or 3rd game is when they die. If I throw another ball that has like 40 games on it, it looks and hooks great. Maybe what I'm trying to ask is what is the best way to revive a ball that has a lot of games on it?

    Is tucking the pinky necessary? and what effect does it have?

    • @djbelc01
      @djbelc01 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tucking your pinky, keeping your pinky flat but close to your ring finger, and spreading your pinky finger out wide are all perfectly good options. They will all change the way the weight of the ball rests in your hand and ultimately how the ball comes off your hand at the release. You can try tucking the pinky to get around the ball a little more and create a little more skid up front and a little more pop downlane, and you can try spreading the pinky out to stay a little more behind the ball. It's not a night-and-day difference, and ultimately it's more of a "what feels comfortable to you" thing. I suggest experimenting in practice with tucking vs. not tucking and see if you like the way it feels and the way it changes your ball motion. For example, you may find you like to start tucking only after two or three games when the lanes start to transition and you have to move inside and open up your angles.

      @djbelc01 excellent explanation. Appreciate the advice. I have played around with it and have seen a difference. Struggle to know when best to utilize each position and what works best for each condition.
