Highlander I am needing to lose 40 lbs and I'm desperate but I don't know what to do or where to start!! I don't understand this keto method and how to do it...how did you start doing it! You seem like you've had 100% success and I really would love to lose this weight!

      www.ruled.me/guide-keto-diet/
good site, you basically drop all harmful foods such as refined sugars, trans fats, any breaded foods, no pasta, grains, etc..
you have to switch your body to fat metabolism by dropping under 50 carbs a day, carbs are easy to measure, you look at food and do total carbs and you minus the fiber and you have the total net carbs, you also have to add the added sugar in as carbs. personally i eat low glycemic veggies to fill this, stuff like kale, spinach, chard, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans etc... and good sourced meat, stay away from processed meat if you can and gmo, and remember get fatty meat, they make a keto app for the phone that will track all of this, everyone is different so do not go by the 80/15/5 rule you have to find what works for you, anything else please ask

Thanks Doctor! So many people either exaggerate or just plain lie. It took me nearly 4 weeks to get into Ketosis. I was, eating food that had hidden carbs (I was so careless). I re-organized, "listed my foods" and now am "burning off" the carb stores. In my case I take off first where I put it on last: butt, thighs, face..............I am now seeing the fat come off my gross belly. Thank you for being so realistic. This system works. You must be patient, organized and persevere.

Eric Berg sir, does doing ketosis and intermittent fasting on the same time result in eating limited amount of fats? like u said more than 30 grams of fat and 30-40 grams protein per meal will result in burning of dietary fat and protein conversion to insulin. this is resulting in me eating two times a day only but that too few amount of food, apart from the Greens for potassium, but u said, in intermittent fasting one can eat a robust meal. so what do I do, how much should I Eat

You are so right about the last part; I spent so much on new wardrobes!!! My 1st year on keto I literally had to buy smaller clothes every other month! I finally started buying clothes a bit too small in anticipation that they'd fit in 2 months; it worked! Now in year 2 I'm not as strict with IF or OMAD so I'm able to maintain my new weight instead of constantly losing weight. I can think of worse problems! 😄

Hey, thank you from Switzerland for your great videos. I am an athlete but I had mood swing issues a lot which influenced my performance to a point where I just could not go anymore on certain days, emotionally and energy - I had an idea it could be nutrition. I googled a lot for about 1 year how I could handle this without any drugs ( I didn't want to be sucked into this whole medicine and doctor thing) and finally found this channel after a lot of try and error. This stuff really works, since May 2018 on Keto Diet and it changed my overall look, feel and performance.

Thanks Dr Berg for all this tutorial videos your are feeding in TH-cam. Thanks to all this videos, I took the decision on giving a go to this keto thing diet. Right! After my fourth day right now, my belly has gone flat. I am 175cm and I am 87kg originally from Barcelona. I think I have gone down in weight already, but don't want to look ,so I will have my surprise. I have always been snacking a lot due to my job as cabin crew, and always eat bad. You never know when you are going to eat next, so eat now, as eating concept. I took this habits at home, and all I do is snacking whilst being for hours in front of the pc working for my masters too. I have started it by cooking on bulk: broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, and blue carrots and regular baby carrots and olives. Added garlic powder and generous 3 to 4 table spoons of olive oil. My breakfast is 2 black coffees with a tea spoon of coconut oil, and a handful of walnuts, as I am nothing hungry at all in the mornings when I wake up. And a big lunch by 2pm as 1 fill up cereal bowl of the vegies mentioned above and 3 hard boiled eggs. That takes me long to dinner time by 7 to 8pm only with 2 black coffee in between (no coconut oil this time) and/or two Pukka supreme match tea. (Does tea and coffee spikes sugar blood?). My dinner is half a bowl of cereal full of the vegies mentioned above again with olive oil and a tin of mackerel in olive oil, (I drain the oil on the fish). But I must say as well, that I eat things that don't spike blood levels a lot.I have something to mention: I don't know if the reason for achieving flat stomach on my 4th day, it is because of getting into healthy eating, or because the ketogenic diet is kicking in. Got my strips coming on the post by eBay, so I will know soon. I am not vegetarian but, I have also realised I feel a bit better by eating less meats. To all this i must day I drink apple cider vinegar unfiltered morning and night. I love eggs as main source of protein, and my cholesterol levels are good so far, (as blood test done recently too). I don't eat dairy as I think it makes my asthma worse. I don't exercise much, as I don't have much time, or either because I am flying all over Europe, or because I need to crack on my studies because I am falling behind, but I have to mention that, today my 5th day I still see my belly flat, which also flying long term, (11 years) gives you chronic blowtiness. On my days off I catch a plane and I go to Palma de Mallorca to see my boyfriend, as he lives there and I live in the outskirts of London. I will post my weight in a week time or so from today!! I have feelings and a big hope that, this time this works for me :) !! I have subscribed to your channel and I find it very interesting. THANKS DR BERG!DanXX:)

It took me EXACTLY 6 weeks to become fat adapted and start to lose weight. I am not fat, I could do with losing 4kg, but I was so sugar and carbs addicted, my nervous system was overactive and I had terrible restless legs syndrome, terrible memory, no motivation, napping throughout the day. It is now all gone after 2 months of Keto. I'm so happy... the funny thing is, I have discovered to many amazing low carb chefs that I am eating better than before and even having more icecream, cookies and cakes lol I just make them with almond and coconut flour. I cannot believe how amazing and easy keto is.

I don't get it. Ketosis is when ketones are in the blood which can occur after a 12 hours fast. But ketosis is also something that takes up to 6 weeks to get into properly. So, what is ketosis? Does "ketosis" mean two things? I can't find a simple answer anywhere!

Almost two year old video, but hoping for a response, because I am not sure where to pose the question.
Regarding sugar and pickling vegetables at home. From what I understand sugar is broken down in the fermentation process. But is that safe for Keto diet? and if so how long would I have to wait to be sure for all of the sugar to have been broken?
    Cheers

Dr Berg, my wife read the following comment on a website. How accurate is this?
The ketogenic diet is generally not suitable for a very long duration. It can promote uric acid accumulation in the tissues, osteoporosis, mineral imbalances, nutrient deficiencies and muscle protein loss over time. Another side effect is a fruity odor of acetone on the breath, as this is one route the body uses to excrete ketones.

Wow this was 4 years ago?! I totally fell into ketosis by accident. I was doing a 30 day detox and while doing so I lowered my calorie intake. I want to get my digestive system running right since sitting for long periods at a time during the work I do made it sluggish and also stomach pains. Long story short I got a urine and blood work done and had +1 ketone. I also burned so much fat it actually scared me. I will try it again but will be more prepared

Dr. Berg, I appreciate all the information you've put on TH-cam about the ketogenic diet. It has helped changed my life for the better. Since the middle of March to now 5-12-2017 I have lost 40 lbs. I'm wondering though does drastic weight loss , like what I've had, cause back problems? For the last few weeks my middle to upper back has been in pain. I don't have a busy life style nor do I work out. I'm currently at 200lbs from 240lbs. I'm 5'10, and follow keto every day. I also do not have a labored career. I've never had back problems before a few weeks ago. Any advice or knowledge on this topic would be greatly appreciated, --thank you

Hello! You have many very, very informative videos! Thank you!!! Congratulations!!! I have a question, my husband is on a keto diet and his blood sugar is the same before eating, after one hour and after two hours. Is this normal? He's a bit worried. He lost 22 pounds in 45 days already and his blood sugar is usually 5.9 (from 12.5 when he was diagnosed in the beginning of June).

As for the effectiveness of building muscle mass, it is definitely a carbohydrate diet + protein
    no. 1.!
    However!
With health, it's a little different. A carbohydrate and high-protein diet is not entirely healthy positive in the long run ... (if we take an adult).
Ketosis has a huge application in life, if you take it as a tool, but not for building muscle and sports performance. Ketosis is a tool for regeneration to prepare, to cleanse the body.
Ketosis is a tool that is excellent before the period of building muscle mass where you will be on a predominantly carbohydrate diet with plenty of quality protein. Ketosis is literally a biohack tool.
    How is it in nature?
Animals in the wild are found in ketosis during periods of food shortage. It is, for example, the winter season ...
They are in idle mode. Their body regenerates, prepares in spring and summer when they are not in ketosis, because there is enough food, but mainly mating takes place. For example, bears mate from May to August. It is a period when they must gain enough fat to survive the winter again. The bear gives birth in January, February and needs fat stores for her little ones to be able to breastfeed. Do you know what makes fat the best?
From fructose. Blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are also food for bears in the summer season.
"Sugar is a great servant, but a very bad lord."
If you know how to control it properly, it will bring you benefits such as strength, muscles, endurance ..... If not, he will bring you to the grave 100% and kill you.

You can get into Ketosis within 48 hours doing a water fast. It will take longer if you are diabetic, possibly up to 96 hours to flush out excess sugar in your blood.

I have a question, around minute 3:23, you say that while on this eating plan, the body will gain muscle mass. Don't we also need resistance/weight training besides proper nutrition to trigger muscle growth? I lost 150 lbs on keto diet, but did not build muscle by just eating this way (or any other way). I only started building muscle once I started lifting weights (in addition to proper nutrition, in my case keto). I love keto for weight loss, of all eating lifestyles, keto is my number one for weight loss. Good video.

I did keto for months and didn't lose even 1 pound nor lost fat. I used the strips and never entered into full ketosis, no idea why. Any ideas of what I might have done wrong? I was bloated and very constipated. I am thinking of doing it again if only I could find what I did wrong.

Can KETO stop the inflammation in the body. I am a chronic painer (5 plates in my neck) but I am still able to work full time. I once had a rotator cuff surgery and then 2 more repairs back to back. The surgeon said I am someone who builds an enormous amount of scar tissue. I know my pain in my neck is 80% related to scar tissue accrual.

How does keto affect blood pressure in a healthy person? Can it drop it to unsafe levels? There was an article where systolic could go down as much as 10 points and diastolic 6 points. Depending on where you are initially, that could drop you below the 90 and 60 minimums respectively. It would be great if you and Sten Eckberg addressed some these experiences or potential downsides.

I know I am not quite prepared to give up all of my unhealthy carbs totally at this point. But after watching your videos what I would like to try is to fast for 24 hours twice per month and prepare for the fast 2-3 days in advance by ensuring I am in a Ketosis state in order to maximize the benefits of that fast. I am fasting for general physical and mental health. Would this approach provide any benefits?

I don’t know. I’m an athlete. Burst energy is important and having glycogen is imperative to burst energy but keytones is what I run on in mountains. Longer energy, more clarity and focus and I don’t have to make stops while hiking. I eat my carbs and proteins at the top for recovery.

    • @scott-hr3hd
      @scott-hr3hd ปีที่แล้ว

Intermittent fast. Vitamin B, C and Coq10. I might add MCT oil if I feel if my body is low on energy. I don’t know this for certain but Im guessing if I take a small amount of MCT oil my body digests as keytones then those keytones act like a primer for my mitochondria to process keytones from internal stores of fats. I can’t be certain but what I do know is I can last for hours without hunger pains nor a loss of energy while climbing mountains.
