I was always a fan of comedy based on someone being from a different place and not understanding the local customs. The first thor movie did an excellent job in that regard. Seeing thor walk into a pet store and yell "I NEED A HORSE" was so iconic.

You might enjoy "Blast from the Past". It's a bit corny, but Brendan Fraser does the Fish out of Water thing hilariously. And the chemistry between him and Alicia Silverstone is surprisingly good. Oh, and Dave Foley steals every scene he's in. Oh oh, and Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek as a bizarre Ozzie and Harriet was a brilliant bit of casting.

Fun fact: In the comics, Thor for his arrogance was banished to Earth for over ten years ... during that time, he had no memory of being Thor and lived the life of Donald Blake, a disabled medical student ... he lived on Earth for years as Blake and got his medical degree having no idea of his true identity.
In Thor's first comic appearance, we're led to believe that Donald Blake just finds the hammer and gains "the power of" Thor. It's not until about 5-6 years into the comics that he and we learn that Blake is a fiction and he is the true Thor. Thor then chooses to keep the Blake ID for many years in the comics after so he can live among humans.
In this film, Blake is the fake ID he uses, apparently Jane's ex as you saw.

"I have bigger problems than you in the southwest region to deal with." --Fury to Tony
_This_ was that bigger problem. I guess Ross was in charge of dealing with Bruce in the northeast region (or maybe Fury didn't know yet).

In mainline comics continuity, the glowy blue box was "The Casket of Ancient Winters." When it was accidentally broken open, it plunged all of Midgard (Earth) into a worldwide deep, devastating winter. The event crossed over into many different Marvel titles and many Marvel characters banded together against the threat.
It was eventually reassembled (and held shut with Super Glue) by Spider-Man and The Human Torch.

10:53 This is a superhero movie with touches of Norse mythology. But it’s also a family drama. Odin is a King but he is also a tough but loving father. Now his oldest son Thor is acting like a brat so he has to put him in a time out.
Meanwhile, his younger son Loki is a sniveling little manipulator. Odin is very much aware that despite Thor’s hot headedness he is loyal. He knows Loki talked his brother into it. So when Loki tried to manipulate him under the guise of speaking up for Thor, Odin just pointed at him and growled. That growl was like “I spanking your brother right now. Be quiet or else you can get spanked too”

Loki was a runt and left to die in Yotinheim. So I suspect he has abandonment issues causing his hate for them. You'll find out what the cube is coming up, well sort of. It still isn't fully explained there, but is later.

Nice. As a longtime comic book nerd, this is one I was worried about. Some characters are just more difficult to translate to the screen. But with Kenneth Branagh directing, they turned this into an amazing Shakespearean story. An amazing piece of work. And your reactions deserve far more views; you're an observant and thoughtful person...

This movie actually impressed me more than nearly any of the other MCU films. Up to this point we just had a world where really sophisticated technology used to make Iron Man suits existed along with a freak accident creating a giant green rage monster. Mixing in outer space and Norse Mythology and making it all work was an incredible achievement.

    5:53 "Almost" doesn't count 😉
    6:25 "Loki, Loki"
11:18 "OMG, she tazed him" - "What? He was freaking me out." 😂
11:39 "How dare you talk to the son of Odin!" Just another day at the hospital... 😉 "He's gonna get sedated."
12:40 "I swear I'm not doing this on purpose." 😂
13:02 Stan Lee "I feel like I didn't see him in IronMan 2" He had a very short cameo as a guest on a party.
23:50 "She's like: He really is Thor." 😁 ... "It's a good look." For sure.
30:14 "Con you see her?" ... "I love the Heimdall in this movie." Yup
31:05 A strange power cube and Loki in the reflection. ... and that is something important to think about until another movie continues exactly there.

I can't hear the name Thor without laughing. It reminds me of my favorite adolescent jokes. It goes like this. "Thor was lying on a couch after the orgy when a beautiful nymph came into the room. Thor said, 'Hi I'm Thor.' The lovely nymph responded, 'I thor too... I'm so thor I can hardly piths.' "😂 It cracks me up every time.
My favorite scene in the movie is when the hammer flies through the air and Thor takes it to beat the giant robot. Natalie's line when she sees the real Thor, "Is this how you usually look? Thor says yes then Natalie says, 'It's a good look.' 💕 this movie.

Oh all the Thor movies I appreciate this one the most, mostly due to the director… there are parts where he utilised his background in starring and directing Shakespeare adaptations to being a serious to the characters of Thor and Asgard… something that really went out the window for the most part with the subsequent Thor movies. They leaned into the comedy and though it works sometimes, sometimes it’s excessively silly, especially the last one. Which is sad because part of it was dark villian arc with Christian Bale and the story with Jane and her issues, and then there’s a completely different movie and then there’s a klutzy bumbling silly Thor and the screaming goats. Sometimes they incongruity can work, but it was so jarring that I was overly meh about the movie and Thor in general. I hope they decide on a tone for the next movie, not trying to do both like they did with Love and Thunder.

This was an underrated movie at the time IMO. Thor is very interesting, has a lot of internal struggle, a fantastic villain, great fish out of water comedy, and some just absolutely emotionally devastating scenes. I think a lot of people had a hard time reconciling the fantasy aspects of this film with the realism of modern Earth or something. But especially if you like mythology and stuff like that, it's a great film.

    *Comic Origin:*
Thor is a fascinating character in the comics. He first appeared in Journey into Mystery #83 (1962) as Dr. Donald Blake, a doctor from the United States. While visiting Norway, he stumbles upon an alien invasion when a ship from Saturn lands nearby, sending advanced scouts to prepare for a full-scale assault. Surprisingly, this mild-mannered doctor turns out to be the Norse god Thor himself, who defends Earth from these invaders.
Thor was sent to Earth by Odin as a form of banishment, similar to his origin in the film. Odin wanted Thor to learn humility, so he stripped Thor of his powers and memory, transforming him into the mortal Dr. Donald Blake. Thor spent ten years in this role, first as a medical student and then as a successful physician, dedicating himself to caring for the sick and dying. Odin eventually placed a subtle suggestion in Blake’s mind to vacation in Norway, which led him to the discovery of Mjolnir, hidden in a secret cave that was Thor's mythical birthplace. When Blake lifted the hammer, he regained his powers and memories, allowing him to resume his true role as the Norse god of thunder.
    *Ultimate Origin:*
Ultimate Thor was introduced in The Ultimates #4 (2002), part of Marvel’s "Ultimate" imprint. A new separate universe running parallel to the main Marvel continuity. In this version, Thor initially believed he was just a human named Thorlief Golmen, a psychiatric nurse, until just before his 30th birthday, when he began experiencing visions of Asgard and developed a "delusion" that he was the Norse God of Thunder. He joined "The Dome Project," an effort to recreate the Super Soldier Serum, something the Ultimate Universe loved tying into many origins. This project, however, took a bio-mechanical approach, creating a harness and power-belt that granted the user abilities like flight, super-strength, and limited invulnerability.
Thorlief became a test subject but soon began claiming he was truly Thor, the "God of Thunder." Inspired by this, the scientists placed the power source into a hammer, which completed his tech-based "Thor" persona. When he eventually joined the Ultimates (the Ultimate Universe’s Avengers), Thor was initially seen as just a delusional guy with advanced tech who thought he was a god. Later, however, it was revealed that Thorlief actually was Thor, banished to Earth.
So pretty much they tired to make a more grounded version of Thor, along with providing a differant take on the character which was the whole idea of this new universe. I really do like the idea that he was just some crazy guy who thought he was a god.
    *Fantastical side of Marvel:*
This film truly introduced audiences to the more fantastical side of Marvel comics. Both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were relatively grounded, well, as grounded as a story about turning into a hulking monster can be. But Thor expanded the Marvel Universe, bringing in a cosmic, mythological element. The filmmakers did a fantastic job with the visuals, especially in their depiction of Asgard. It has a strong Nordic aesthetic, yet it’s also futuristic and awe-inspiring. The rainbow bridge is breathtaking, those early Jack Kirby Thor comics from the 1960s and 70s were filled with vibrant colors, with the rainbow bridge and planets in the sky overhead Asgard creating a sense of cosmic wonder. Even if this films tone is much darker, reflecting the later Thor comics.
It’s really cool that a character like Thor can coexist in the same world as a character like Iron Man. These characters and their worlds are meant to contrast each other, with Thor bringing a mythic, cosmic side while Iron Man is rooted in tech and science. Moving forward, the films have only embraced more elements from the comics, blending genres and tones and bringing in more comic designs. That said, Thor: Love and Thunder arguably went too far with the humor, leaning heavily into camp. But Thor: Ragnarok (2017) was a perfect mix of both and remains my favorite Thor movie.
Cannot wait for Captain America: The First Avenger, personal favorite film in Phase One :D

The shield agent that grabbed the bow and arrow instead of the sniper rifle was Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye. It's easy to overlook power steering in the MCU like the fact hemidal survived the casket of ancient winters when there's only 4 individuals who could have survived a encounter with the casket. With the others being Odin Thor and Loki. Odin draws his power from something called the Odin Force which he has to sleep and recharge his power once a year. During Thor's coronation and possible war against the frost Giants Odin put off the Odin sleep which caused him to fall into a coma.

Glad you enjoyed it. While it does deviate from actual mythology. I love the aspect of son/father relationship. Why as young men we sometimes act like Thor...being impulsive and or arrogant. Our father's try to guide us and sometimes the lessons are harsh, but needed. I didn't see my father's wisdom until I became adult and parent myself. His tone and his disappointment when I messed up hurt more than messing up. I feel blessed to have had a good father that taught me lessons. Funniest part is I raised my daughter similar to my upbringing and as adult she sees my wisdom that I passed down too and she too said she hated the disappointment look. :). Also, once you finish the marvel movies...you need to watch the Loki show..it so amazing too and ties in to Marvel universe.

Was a fun watch along, if you are a fan of the historical and comic takes on Norse mythology.. I highly recommend "Thor & Loki Blood Brothers" it's an animated release in 4 parts. It is still highly based on the comic but is more true to the Nordic past views on the main characters. Any fan of Thor should check this out IMO. Maybe not great for YT views and subs, but perhaps you will gain more die hard fans to your channel if you did react to them? Run time is about 20 mins per episode. Both Thor and Loki are trying to prove themselves to Odin but Loki is so hurt by him and does a lot of impulsive drastic shit. Marvel didn't actually used a lot of the source mythology and made Asgardians more likable. But I don't like Odin at all for some reasons. And for me he gets even worse movie by movie coming next.
Loki can shape shift but in this movie he just used more illusions. The next movies he'll put some of his mischievous powers to test.

Natalie Portman's dad, or more properly her character's dad. You know who that is, right? That's the Baron from Dune.
He's also Pennywise's father irl. Or rather, he's the father of the guy who played Pennywise.

So obviously you'll cross this bridge when you get to it, but I wanted to point out that in that infographic about the MCU release order you posted towards the end of the video. after Spider-Man: Far From Home...starts Phase 4, which is a whole new story arc. Disney+ shows are introduced at that point and are vital to the overall story...you'll actually have 3 shows to watch before you even start Black Widow. But here's the release order for that part just so you have it:
    Phase 4:
    WandaVision (Series)
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Series)
    Loki Season 1 (Series)
    Black Widow (Movie)
    What If...? Season 1 (Series)
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Movie)
    Eternals (Movie)
    Hawkeye (Series)
    Spider-Man: No Way Home (Movie)
    Moon Knight (Series)
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Movie)
    Ms. Marvel (Series)
    Thor: Love and Thunder (Movie)
    She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Series)
Werewolf By Night (Disney+ Special Presentation)
    Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Movie)
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+ Special Presentation)
    Phase 5:
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (Movie)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Movie)
    Secret Invasion (Series)
    Loki Season 2 (Series)
    The Marvels (Movie)
    What If...? Season 2 (Series)
    Echo (Series)
    Deadpool & Wolverine (Movie)
    Agatha All Along (Series)
What If...? Season 3 (Series - Airing December 22nd 2024)
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (Series - Airing January 29th 2025)
Captain America: Brave New World (Movie - February 14th 2025)
Daredevil: Born Again (Series - March 4th 2025)
    Thunderbolts (Movie - May 2nd 2025)
    Ironheart (Series - June 24th 2025)
Phase 6 (As we currently know of):
The Fantastic Four: First Steps (Movie - July 25th 2025)
Eyes of Wakanda (Series - August 6th 2025)
Marvel Zombies (Series - October 2025)
Wonder Man (Series - December 2025)
    Avengers: Doomsday (Movie - May 1st 2026)
    Untitled Spider-Man 4 (Movie July 26th 2026)
    VisionQuest (Series - 2026)
Avengers: Secret Wars (Movie - May 2nd 2027)
There was also a new Blade movie scheduled for next year, but it recently got delayed indefinitely (it's been having a lot of production issues). There's also apparently a Shang-Chi 2 expected in 2026 though it hasn't been officially announced yet.

The most badass thing to me is that Hawkeye is more accurate and deadly with a bow and arrow than a gun or rifle.

The quality of the movies (except the final two Spider-Man movies) really takes a nosedive after Avengers: Endgame.

Do reactors realize that they kind of ruin it for people watching the videos when they sit there and guess everything? Because I'm not watching the rest of it now. The reason why we watch is to see your reaction and surprise of emotions about the movie. Shaking my head

26:56 "I think I missed something . . . cuz I'm -- I'm confused." Nope! If revelations about Loki's plans ever leave you _more_ confused than you were, that just means you're on the right track! 😆
