Kyuss is a stoner band from Joshua Tree, famous for playing gig/parties out in the desert off a generator with some other prolific stoner bands that all birthed “desert rock”. Josh homme from Queens of the Stone Age was the guitarist for Kyuss, and since the were playing in the desert the guitars are super driven hollow bodies through bass amps for a giant stoner tone that sounds absolutely huge

At the same time all these things matter a lot, and don't matter at all... Playing a lot is what makes the real difference..
These are the pickups that came with the kit, unbranded, likely very cheap. I'm also surprised how good they sound! Usually the pickups are one of the necessary upgrades on these instruments, immediately after upgrading the strings
Grazie!
I love the semi hollow, but to be honest it doesn't enhance the sound. IMO it makes the instrument lighter, it looks and it feels great. If I play it without amplification I wouldn't be able to tell if it is a semi hollow or a solid body (at least this bass in particular). IMO, the pickups, type of strings, type of amplification (and of course the musician ability) it's what makes 99% of the sound.
@@faustobrusamolino6345 Such a beautiful instrument. I was thinking maybe the hollow body helps a player hear/feel the tones better, could be useful when performing, so you can hear yourself over the band better.
Thanks! Glad you like this instrument! In that sense a semi hollow doesn't make you feel the notes better in a band context. With the fretless you need to be sure you hear yourself very well in the mix, use the side dots for a general reference, but otherwise train and use your ears, the most important asset of every musician!
That's a nice Bass Guitar.
That's a nice bass guitar.
Same here. Is that a custom made bass guitar?? Looks cool 👍😎

The aesthetics of the room are fantastic
Awesome take on the song. The fretless bass makes it sound even "trippier."

Is this a custom guitar? It’s gorgeous
Correct! it's a kit bass that I assembled, modded and finished
Ziricote fingerboard?
Rosewood I believe
Nice one! How do you find the hollow body? Does it enhance the sound?

Lot of noise… change pickups & play changes !
Fair enough! The pickups are actually dead quiet, this was recorded with my phone, picking up some ambient noise.
Doesn't sound like a proper fretless bass!
Ok! I promise it is!
