    It’s crazy how Ducati will have a name for being “finicky” then you come across this video and the thing is bulletproof! Glad you put this out there, people need to know! Awesome bike!

    Thanks for the video! I have a 2015 with 10K miles on it, the dealer recommends doing the timing belt at that interval so I am going to have it replaced just to be on the safe side. These bikes are awesome!

    Took my 1198 for the valve check the first big service and they said it sounded great it probably didn’t even need the service, if you redline a lot then for sure but if not it might not be necessary.

    Well, good to know. I just accidentally bought a 2019 1200s today. I'll definitely treat it better, but now I'm wondering if that warranty was worth it or necessary... Holy hell! What a machine!!!

    I get false neutrals when I shift like a girl. Word on the street is change your belt once during warranty after that run it till 100,000. cars use damn near the same belt for cam timing, Harleys belt is wider and they handle the weight of the bike.

    My 2014 Monster 1200s (50,000km done) at 1 time got blinking meter issue with error message, it stalled. It’s been running much in heavy rain during that period of time. Ducati ask me to change the meter (It’s actually part of the ECU system) but I have to delay that cause it’s freakin expensive. After doing some internet research and a bit try and error stuff, it turn out that the cable connection under the seat is wet still with some water (Not sealed by the way) and I dry it out. I sealed the connection keeping it dry and everything is okay since then, even with high pressure washer.

    14,000 mile 2014, 1200 owner. Went into limp mode due to throttle position sensor. Stranded me when oil got into the regulator rectifier.

    Wow so glad to hear that, and I’m probably sure that might not the case with every Ducati monster, I guy had 1200 and he was so disappointed that he said he will never buy a Ducati again, he said that he had a lot of issues with the brakes calipers and he had to flush the calipers every year so they could work properly,and that the rotors warped,. I’m thinking about buying a 2014 Ducati from a friend, it’s a 1200 S model, he asking me $8500 with a few extra items that come with it ,
    The bike has only 2000 miles on it, I’m out of town and told him that I will buy it this upcoming Sunday, quick question, do think it’s a good price for it assuming the bike it’s in good shape? And it has a clean title also, I really appreciated if answer me back, I know nothing about Ducatis but for years I felt in love with the 1200 models specially the trellis fame, so disappointed that Ducati is getting rid of the trellis frame. Anyways thanks a lot for sharing the info on the monster 1200 , take care.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually do think that's a great price for a 1200 especially an S model. If the bike is truly in good condition and has a clean title it should definitely take care of you. As you can see with my friend's 1200s they seem to be pretty reliable as long as you're not terribly reckless with them. And I completely agree, the trellis frame and single sided swing arm are such signature Ducati style items. Wish my Panigale had a trellis frame but completely understand the frameless route, the bike feels like it weighs nothing.
      Enjoy that 1200s! It sounds like the right move based on what I'm hearing!

      I think a big factor is that most people don’t ride a lot and especially if it’s a Ducati. I ride more than I drive my car plus I commute to work when I do go into the office. I would personally still get the Ducati but that’s because I have a Suzuki sfv650 as well.

    I came across this video. Boy was I glad to know the reliability of this bike. I have a white 2014 Monster 1200S with 11K miles. But if don't get the valve adjusted at the recommended miles, wouldn't the bike go in a limp mode? Is that true? Thanks in advance.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not in my friend's experience.
      I have another friend with an 1199 Panigale that overshot the 30k desmo service by 30k miles and he had zero issues

      If they had that tech in there and used it they would get sued class action style for strong arming you into paying them for service you don't think you need.

    Didn't even bother to check the belts then? kinda important to change those on these big Ducs (5 years or 15 miles) no fork oil or fluid changes either I'll bet! seems like this bikes been pretty badly abused 🤔

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can’t speak from hands on knowledge but in my experience the lower displacement models of recent Ducatis are just as reliable if not more so than their larger displacement counterparts. A good example of this is the 899 panigale being more reliable than a 1199 panigale
