Wow did this video save me who knows how much $ in a service call. I ordered the latch part on Amazon, about $30.00, followed Steve's instructions exactly and ......gotter done. My wife was so impressed that I did it my self and saved us probably $150.00 or more in labor, that she offered me a special treat tonight. Wink Wink! And I'm 69.
This was absolutely perfect in every way…great angles, great speed-not too fast nor too slow, great explanations. I just successfully switched mine out using THIS video (after researching seemingly a thousand others) and I am THRILLED. Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for your help! After our repairman diagnosed the problem, I paid him $120 for it, he wanted $340 more for this part and the labor. I said, “no, thank you!” I bought the part for $60 on the internet and free labor, thanks to your amazing video! Yay!!!
Thank you! The most complete video on this topic and you included the solution for if/when post replacement that the lock is to set to a locked position. Saved me a repair technician bill and time lost!
Thank you sir for making this video. I was stuck trying to get the latch off, but you explained it like a pro. The latch came right off and the new one was on in minutes. My washer is running again. Thanks.
Our washer wouldn't operate because the lid lock would not activate. Before we KNEW what the problem was, we were fearing a replacement cost of at least $900. Then when we understood what the problem was, we were looking at a repair bill of $250. After watching this VERY HELPFUL, simple to understand video, we were able to buy the part and repair our washer within 40 minutes. All for only about $40! THANK YOU!!!
Thanks everything went well. You were the third video I watched and stopped there. I was afraid of breaking the part putting it back together, it just snapped together, again thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I had watched a previous video that was incomplete and ended up breaking the part. So I paid for the part twice but it was still cheaper than having someone come out and fix it. Excellent video
What a helpful video. Saved me hundreds for sure. I got my part from Amazon for $39.99 and did everything on my own! My Maytag washer works perfectly now! Thank you so much!!👌🤩
My lid wouldn't close? Ive been operating it in my hand half the day.and unlocking it with a paper clip. 8 am i went to a repair shop and ask him why it does this. He said they had problems and he was trying to get going. Good folks! He knew excatly what u just taught me. Ill try it.THANKS! FINNALY FOUND THE ANSWER!!!
Mine's door got locked and I couldn't do anything until I watched this video, this video helped to understand where it was supplying the voltage singnal, so I altered the stage it was: 1 - I disconnected the cable. 2 - touched start boton it change the signal, I was measuring. 3- put it back, powered cycle and started to work.
Thanks for this excellent video! My daughter and I fixed my Admiral washer in about 1 hour. It actually took longer to clear our the junk in my store room, than to do the repair. PS -- I'm 71 and she is 41 and neither of us is mechanically inclined. Thanks again!
Excellent video. Hit it spot on. The finer details of lid latch removal and installation made it quick and simple to do the job. Much gratitude for sharing your knowledge with us.
Hello; GREAT video! I really appreciate you guys, you are GREAT! Many "Thank you"s for all the good videos & the great help you provide. I think that helping people fix their appliances AND sell the parts is a brilliant idea. I wish you guys all the best & hope your business is successful. It would have cost me an arm & a leg to have paid for the part & the labor. I'm on disability so I can't really afford to pay the outrageous prices repairmen demand. Thank you for all you do. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
Thank you so much, I watched this video and changed the door latch in 20 minutes, it would have taken me at least 2 hours to figure it out and get it done. thank you soo much. amazing video.
Thank you so much for uploading this video and explaining this remove/install process so thoroughly. I was wondering if in order to avoid the new lid lock assembly being in locked position and preventing the lid from closing, can we inspect and tell if the new one is in locked position and can we unlock it before the install? Thanks again for your help.
Was literally thinking the same thing ab to install one later I hope it's not in the stuck position let me know if it's possible to unlock it before installing it
It is possible that the spring could fail , most times you find a plastic pin or lever broken inside, usually if the lid was dropped into the close position as well as normal wear and tear over the years
What is this same part number? I ordered one online and the connector to the circuit board was not compatible. I need the same one you are using in this video.
My replacement lid lock came locked. How would I unlock it? I've tried holding down the power button and it does nothing for me but tell me the lid is locked (without the top strike being latched)
Help Steve! Replaced the Lid Lock Switch, but door will not close. Lid Locked light is flashing. When I apply the popsicle stick, the light stays on steady, but then pushing the Start button doesn't help. Lid still will not go down. BTW, in the video, you perform that popsicle trick , then you plug in the Switch connector? I would think it must be connected to get the stick trick to work? What to try next?
Hey John, I hope this isn't bad to cross-post but... I made a video on fixing this issue - the lock needs engaged manually with your fingers th-cam.com/video/d7tXnwpL5Zo/w-d-xo.html
7:43 The camera is missing an important view of the switch re-assembly. Oh, sure, "you can't miss it, just follow his voice." Ha. I can miss it, every darn time. Arrrgh!.

Thank you for this. I didn't have anyone to reach me how to do repairs, and now I can do them!
You are my hero for showing this. Why would any engineer design something like this?
Thanks everything went well. You were the third video I watched and stopped there. I was afraid of breaking the part putting it back together, it just snapped together, again thanks.

Where can I find that chain that's holding up the washer.Doing rhie job over the weekend..Thank you very much!!!!
Thanks so much! This helped perfectly
Other thing /looks like u did the tunge depressor trick with the new lid sw.un plugged.?
Thank you!
In the business. Things keep changing. Like the chain lanyard idea.. tip
I just need to replace or fix the plastic latch on the lid itself. Any answers on how to to this?
Thanks for the video!
Thank you.
Thank you, it worked!
How do you determine if problem is washer lid lock assembly or the door strike?
BTW your cold water inlet valve is done for. The rust buildup is evident.
Also explains low fill.
Followed the directions and it works great, thanks!
Very helpful. Thanks
It Worked!!!
Can the spring inside the switch get weak on one end.
It is possible that the spring could fail , most times you find a plastic pin or lever broken inside, usually if the lid was dropped into the close position as well as normal wear and tear over the years
Ty So much.best 1 I have seen.👍
Thanks

I tried your instructions on unlocking the lid lock and it will not close. I have a Amanda washer
My replacement lid lock came locked. How would I unlock it? I've tried holding down the power button and it does nothing for me but tell me the lid is locked (without the top strike being latched)
Did you ever end up figuring it out
Can you jump this switch out?
Not as simple as the old style switch but looks easy enough. 👍
Help Steve! Replaced the Lid Lock Switch, but door will not close. Lid Locked light is flashing. 7:43 The camera is missing an important view of the switch re-assembly. Oh, sure, "you can't miss it, just follow his voice." Ha. I can miss it, every darn time. Arrrgh!.
use the wooden tool after its plugged into the computer----otherwise ---it cant talk to the lock

Door locks are evil.
These shouldn't even exist. -.-
