    I don't know why you didn't remove and clean the jets when you already had the carburetor in your hands... Now you have to disassemble it and reassemble it again…. for the little time it takes you…do it all the first time

      Is it possible that this flooding condition could have been caused by the customer flipping the blower forward with the engine up?

    • @thesmallenginerepairguy
      @thesmallenginerepairguy 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @sscott65s1 I'm sure some fuel would leak into the intake but only a little. By a little, I'm thinking maybe half the carburetor bowl. With the snow blower tilted, fuel would not feed the carburetor from the tank. I've tilted many snow blowers and never had a stuck engine as a result.

    • @thesmallenginerepairguy
      @thesmallenginerepairguy 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Most of the time, surging means the engine is wanting more fuel than the carb is delivering. I recommend the adjustable carb so it can be tuned to where is purrs.

    The bolt that holds the bowl on won't tighten and is leaking gas out of the bottom. Im guessing the inside threads or the bolt are stripped- one or the other. Good new is, that the gas drains out of the bowl and never gets gunked up- the bad news is that I have to siphon any left over gas out of it when I use it, which is a pain. Do you think I need to replace the whole bowl or is there a way to fix the stripped threads that will hold?

    • @thesmallenginerepairguy
      @thesmallenginerepairguy 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      All depends on your skill level and availble tools, but I would just recommend you replace the carburetor. Problem solved.

    • @purgasoj
      @purgasoj 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@thesmallenginerepairguy leaning in that direction- another dumb thing I need to check first is if I possibly mixed up the bolt that locks the bowl in place and the little side drain- I only mention this is because as I was looking online on amazon for a replacement carb- the kit online has 2 different sized bolts for the drain and the bowl lock- so I may try switching them before buying. One thing that I know now is the snowblower runs awesome right now- no surging like it was on the original clean. I appreciate your channel!

    I hate to be the one, but I noticed right off the bat that you never put gas into the gas tank. You went straight to the carburetor, you bypassed the fuel tank, why? Why didn’t anyone notice he didn’t check the shut off valve or add fuel to the gas tank.

    • @thesmallenginerepairguy
      @thesmallenginerepairguy หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sharedpollard4407 There will still be some fuel left in the very bottom of the carburetor. That fuel will eventually break down and gell, which will clog your jet. Maybe not right away, but there's an increased chance.

    Same motor, different orientation on a MTD. Couldn't get that cover off and for the life of me missed the vent hose was tied to the cover. Getting the throttle and choke knobs off was also a pain, but WD40 advice was great too. I was just going for a full carb replacement after having it sit far too long to bother cleaning. • @thesmallenginerepairguy

    I just cleaned out the very same carb as preventative maintenance, the rubber seals were rock hard. I put it back together, and placed an order for a partial rebuild kit for basket side. The machine I got it is from sometime 2006-8, is that machine just as old? I noticed my engine is exactly the same, along with the carb too.

    • @thesmallenginerepairguy

      @sharifsircar not sure the year of this engine but it's a tecumseh engine.

  • @DennisMurphey

    YES! Lots of good comments and well earned. I liked the trick ti listen for air from the primer button. I have been hearing it but did not realize that was wrong. Trying to think of a way to bench test that carb using the primer button. but hanging on the engine loosely with the fuel connected may be the best way to test a rebuild. So the only adjustment we have is idle. I did bend my governor spring last year and i noticed it was oscillating a bit. thinking i need to straighten that out before i finish this overhaul. Seemed my O-ring shrank as is does fir the groove well. I found an assortment of O rings and the smaller one fit. I also found a fuel filter and nonEthenal fuel. I saw a fuel shut of valve but had a cheap attack, I want to get one next time. Dad had one on a water pump we used to fill the cattle trough out on a remote pasture. We would go out there open the fuel shut off crank it over 5 or 6 times with no spark then hook up the spark plug and it would fire up. When the tank was full of water we ground the spark with a screw driver and shut off the fuel. Ir was quite the ritual. for us. Now Granddad had something like that but he would should off the fuel then let the engine run dry. Thank You for a great life saving video. My snow blower is all apart and 8 inches due in tomorrow night. I better get out there and get this carb back together. Dennis
