I wouldn't be shocked if Sega put in a cheat to unlock all of the items from the shop. I know that they did this in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, so I could definitely see them doing something similar here.
I have a lot of nostalgia of playing Monkey Target and Billiards with members of my old church from back in middle school~ as much as I love the aesthetic of this game, I feel like if I can't even get past the first quarter of Banana Blitz HD, then I'm going to struggle even more with this game :'D This was a really solid review, and I hope everyone has fun with Banana Mania!
Are long loading screens exclusive to the Switch version? I was hoping to hear more about the PS5 version since it's included in the title.. A graphics comparison would be awesome
The IGN review is objectively bad, it doesn’t even address the changes in the remake from the originals. The reviewer here actually researched and reported the differences despite not having played the originals. The IGN take was pretty much “this isn’t actually fun, people only remember it being fun because of nostalgia”, which is pretty unaware and patronizing considering the community around these games
@Steven H. It has an 80 on metacritic, what do you mean? Also, the IGN review didn’t actually even touch on the REMAKE aspects of the remake at all lmao. It was just focused on the original level design and saying that it’s bad because it’s hard (it somehow didn’t even mention any of the new accessibility options added to make it easier)
Its kinda sad people dislike this game for not bieng identical to the original You complain that monkey ball was too lazy and easy now But once they give the community what they want aka harder levels that are inspired from the original game and most of the features return from the original 2 games They still complain theres no way to make these guys happy I’ve played the original 2 monkey ball games and i myself have to say that this is the most effort and care monkey ball has gotten
would be nice to see a new mode added in an update or DLC… a 1v1 wireless or splitscreen “race mode” for the main game, can be played with or without “ghost” hitboxes
Hi @GameXplain, what was Monkey Target like? Did the adopt bits and pieces from each of the games, or go with just one of the games' versions of it? How does it compare to 1 & 2?
It's really nice just hearing a guy say "my husband" instead of partner to keep it ambiguous. Heard you say it in another recent vid and I'm glad you don't have a problem saying so. Was a bit sad looking at some of the comments. Do your thing dude. A lot more people support you than don't. Was a thorough review that seems to give the game a fair shake. 4:40 is a great example of how the new more floaty and lighter physics engine will take a bit of challenge out of some of these harder levels. In the original game, you would not have ever been able to recover from this...
Ok I need to ask this: I'm curious if the Nintendo Switch version of Banana Mania can somehow be played with a Gamecube controller with a Wii U or Switch Gamecube controller adapter (like you can with the Switch version of Trials Rising). And if it is possible, does it alleviate or improve any control and/or physic issues with this game at all?

@@cubansupreme All Switch games are technically compatible with the GC controller, since the Switch just treats it as a USB controller, it's just a matter of if the controller has enough buttons for the game, and in Monkey Ball it does. Well, that and I've watched multiple people play it with one lol, Vinesauce for one example. Hope this helps

There was also a preview a while ago showing a speedrunner from Japan using one, and several other people have mentioned it on review copies. And again, as far as I know it works with every Switch game as long as it has the buttons for it. (GC has no ZL or ZR buttons for example)
If I have a ps5 and switch which should I get it on? Switch seems like the obvious one cause I could play in handheld but if the load times on ps5 are a lot quicker I might want that one

I’m going to get the switch version in the hopes of playing with a Gamecube controller and also I think this game would be great on the go. PS5 probably going to have better graphics and faster load times but this game likely doesn’t have long load times on the switch and graphics aren’t going the be worth double dipping for me

Dunno if you have it yet but switch is definitely better. The loading times are not long at all and it's still 60 fps
