About "why does Bruno need all these things for his power", I saw someone's comment for their cannon and I quite liked it. Their thoughts was that it wasn't necessary for Bruno, but because Bruno is a very superstition person, doing those rituals help him focus his power.

It also seems like Bruno's ability is active rather than passive when used like he does in the movie.
Like, Bruno might be able to see future events just as easily as others can use their powers, but Mirabel wants a very specific future read. He may need more concentration when its something super specific compared to just any ol future.

Mirabel is the youngest. Isabela is the eldest and Luisa is the taken-for-granted middle one.

    The pitch meeting:
"Hey, we want to make a movie about Latina generational trauma, and maybe also make it a metaphor about the immigrant experience."
"Can it have a ton of earworm songs?
    "Yeah, we can do that."
    "OK, here's your $100 million."

Okay but in all realness they went through SOOO many renditions of what encanto was going to be before they settled. Like I'm shocked on how different it was! Or how it was going to be. From an entire cast of characters who don't exist anymore, to the plot being so wildly different like trying to discover the mystery of the Casita, or Mirabel traveling outside the encanto to see all the technology they don't have,,, like it's crazy how they go through all of it. As a writer and artist, as soon as I pick something simple, like a characters name, I HAVE to stick with it. No idea how people do it😭😭

@@sprinkles06 I love how it turned out, and how specifically Colombian they made it, even down to the Garcia Marquez references like the butterfly.

2:23 Notes for Spanish (Spain): the verbs "gustar" and "encanter" (like/fancy) are no from the perspective of who likes (th's how it works in English) but from the perspective of what it is liked. So, "I love(fancy) this channel" becomes "Este canal me encanta" and many times it's spoken as "Me encanta este canal" (just because 🤷). Bad news for learners: sentence subject and object are switched. Good news for learners: there's only two possible kinds of subjects: 3rd person singular and plurar, so these verbs are easy to conjugate: "Me gusta la flor/Me gustan las flores" (I like the/this flower / I like the flowers). "Me encanto" would mean something like "I like/fancy/love myself as an object" (which is weird). Anyway, you're learning and that's commendable.
9:53 I understand many people liking "We don't talk about Bruno" as a "Musical" piece based on more traditional Latinamerican music, but I prefer "Under pressure" because it's structured as a song (in musical terms) and because I'm the oldest child so the song resonates with me
13:43 The dish gets me every single time 😭

I lost count how many times I've seen this movie already, both as a full watching and through various reactions. To me Encanto is currently #1 not just Disney or animated movie, but a a movie as such. It is really hitting hard on the sensitive strings for me.
There is a lot of things that are easy to miss on the first watch (though you really did a good job) so I recommend giving it a second and even third go. Anyway, two interesting facts no-one mentioned about yet.
One outside of the movie itself, that will probably baffle you: Stefanie Beatriz, the actress who voiced Mirabel was actually in active labour when she was delivering the song "Waiting for a miracle". She just didn't want to freak out the staff so she just (?) did her work and went to the hospital to deliver her baby. It adds another layer to the song.
The other one is within the movie and is actually double-part. First of all, in the protagonists name Mirabel you have the part "mira" which means "look, see" in Spanish (you probably know that already but you may have missed it). Note how her mom refers to Mirabel after she cut her hand. Seeing in the movie becomes an important trope, just check how Mirabel refers to abuela in their reconciliation scene (but once you're aware of that you'll notice the reference several times in the movie). But there's more to it. Whenever it comes to seeing through others, Mirabel actually holds the other's hands (well, it's not exactly true when it comes to Bruno, but here we have the other way round, Bruno is seeing/showing Mirabel's vision and that's when Bruno is holding Mirabel's hands). Check how Mirabel starts to understand the challenges her siblings are through - they are each time holding hands. And yet again go back to the scene of the reconciliation with abuela. The very same moment as previously.
There's way more, but this two things keep keep being one of the greatest fun facts about the movies (and you won't find the latter two often, I figured it out myself and I really haven't seen other people noticing that).
    Anyway, I love your reaction.

Luisa (the strong one) is actually the middle child. Isabela the golden child is the oldest. Mirabel is the youngest sister..

Bruno didn't get to pick his power, and all the family knew was that he had gone away. Sorry, I know this is an older reaction. Lol

this movie infuriates me because not one member of her family thought that she was the next guardian of the house.
