As a newly autistic woman,when I was in my teen years watching Encanto,this movie not only brought me tears,joy,emotion,and the miracle of acceptance,it opened my heart to see the culture & miracles of Colombia!My favorite character from this film would be Mirabel!She’s funny,kind,and shows that she wants acceptance from her family.Just imagine what it would feel like we had magical gifts.
One thing I do like about this film is that they made it so Mirabel also has to let go of her misconceptions of her family. It could of been easy to just make it so that her family was the only ones who needed to open their eyes to see that Mirabel is special, powers or no. But Mirabel also had her eyes opened to the fact that what she (and everyone else) believed her sisters to be wasn’t the truth. Helps tie the family confection together as well
I've always believed that the real reason Mirabel didn't receive a gift was simply because the house knew she didn't need one. Look at everything she accomplished for herself and her family. No magical gift required 👨👩👦❤️
You know that part of the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" where everyone start singing together, but everyone was singing their respective parts, which actually match up together perfectly? That is called "madrigal", which is a moment in a song where several voices sing typically unaccompanied and arranged in elaborate counterpoint. That fits so well, because that is the family name of the main characters.
As an autistic woman, I find it really interesting because Mirabel represents how a handicaped person can feel in her family (my little sisters don't understand it's a part of me I can't change). It's funny you mentionned Mulan because in France (where I live), Bruno is voiced by the same guy than Mushu, but also because before Mirabel, Mulan was the first Disney character I could identify myself
Dolores' gift allows her to hear everything that happens miles away. That is both a gift and a curse, as that means that she can hear everyone's conversations (which is bad since she can't keep a secret, especially one that is big) and any undesired sounds. She talks softly because even her voice is heard loudly to her. However, her room is soundproof, so she can sleep without having outside sounds disturbing her. That's why she didn't hear abuela talking at that night.

Loud sounds don't bother me that much (even though yes I can hear lower volume sounds) but high pitched or very low pitched sounds hurts me a lot (I can actually hear a dog whistle and the hum in electric lighters both hurt so much sometimes I actually start shaking). From what they show I feel like Dolores gift is based on volume instead of pitch so her hum might not hurt her as much as you'd believe (actually for me when she does her hum it actually does hurt me a little because of how pitched it is.)
I just finished watching your Coco video and now I just finished this video. These are two of my favorite movies. I don’t know if you’ve seen everything everywhere all at once yet but if you haven’t, that is my ultimate favorite movie now after interstellar used to be my number one.

It shows that she ages who’s gonna be the candleholder when she dies?

I love this movie this is right next to moana for me second favorite disney movie then both inside out 1 and 2 are third and forth this movie is so emotional 5/5 for sure there i hope encanto 2 realeses soon and i did see this in theaters for the fist time i watched it
