Before Mark Smith's passing i was able to sit with him in Deadwood South Dakota at a JJUSA Banquet for a couple of hours and talk about jeeps and adventures. He was very generous with his stories and time. He was a very interesting fellow to say the least. i still can't believe he sat us at his table and palavered for so long.

This is GOLD. Probably one of the best youtube videos I've seen to date. I know it might be difficult to find iconic stories like this but maybe you could make this into a series where people talk about epic trips they've taken!

THIS!..... Is the sort of thing that I want to see. It seems as though you've trying out a few different avenues with your channel. There are a ton 4x4 and overlanding channels, I follow quite a few but I have to say that you can only watch so many gear reviews. Can only watch other people camp out so many times. Trips that I can do are interesting of course but I for one enjoyed this. Search out more history, more background on expeditions like this. Thumbs up!

Awesome! Good to hear Ed. The channel here is for the viewers, not me, so I try to inspire, inform, and keep the content interesting while sticking to a fewe basic categories (Rig Walk Arounds, How To's, Trips, Reviews, and Interviews). Your input is definitely appreciated, and I'm glad you like the video!

I find this Jeep trek far more interesting than the Land Rover expedition in 1971. This is just your average run-of-the-mill guy in a stock Jeep. The Land Rover team had factory support, special mechanics, welders, and professional overlanders to round them out. The guys in the Jeeps are your neighbors down the street. Also, Chevrolet did the Darian Gap in 1961 in 3 Covair's and two Suburbans, I believe.

Great video! How ironic, large bulldozers, graders, earth movers could easily build a road across there ....Just use boulders, etc. for elevated road base, giant concrete culverts for river crossing bridges, game crossings,.etc. Billions from development from the road, tolls, travelers, could help all local people, tribes, local towns, countries etc.. Why don't we do it?😎 Challenging, but easily possible. Never would be such a road that could bring so much benefit to so many. Someday soon I hope...
