- I thought I'd share how I like to rig big soft plastic swimbaits for targeting giant dusky flathead in shallow water on Castaway Estuary Fishing Charters. In this video, I'm using an Irukandji Sicario 7"/175mm (incorrectly labelled 9"/225mm in video), but the same rigging technique can be used for a wide range of big soft plastics. We have caught several dusky flathead over 90cm using this rigging method, including a 105cm MONSTER.
Tackle used in video:
Irukandji Sicario 7" (175mm)
BKK Kajiki Light size 6/0
BKK Fangs 63UA size 2
Shimano OCEA Fluorocarbon 40lb

Loving this flathead video series 🤙
Thanks mate 👍
Which size hook is that? Eagle claw do a 4/0 with a hook keeper already attached but I would have thought yours would be a size or two bigger than that
Have you tried the bait junkie 6.2 rigged the same way? They look similar, these also look great! I like the way you've rigged them. Good video!
Bait Junkies are made out of a stretchy, floating TPE material and don’t really work that well rigged unweighted. Dense PVC type soft plastics that sink are the way to go…
@@fishcastaway Thanks mate, I see what you mean. I tried to put nail weights in them to get them to sink evenly but haven't had much success
Very informative , what size/ weight nail weight are you using on the 7".
Cheers
About 1.5g seems to help keep the plastic upright/stop rolling. I use a couple of different weights depending on how deep I want it to swim on a slow roll 👍
GREAT VIDEO
