I installed Tuxedo OS on 3 machines (2 in dual boot with Windows 11 and one in an old 2 duo core CPU Toshiba laptop with 4 GB of RAM). And in one Dell SFF with an i3-9100 and 24 GB of RAM I installed KDE neon. So I can compare. Tuxedo OS is leaps and bounds more snappy than KDE neon. Even the 2 core CPU laptop is way more snappy and fluid (really as quick with Tuxedo as an 16c/32t CPU you would expect) than KDE neon on the Dell 4c/4t PC. Somehow KDE neon is more laggy than Tuxedo on any machine.
I believe Tuxedo Computers GmbH optimised the heck out of Tuxedo OS which makes it so much superior and quicker on even old hardware with less RAM and an old CPU than KDE neon on an much more powerfull computer.
If KDE neon does not solve their lag problem and high CPU usage, then customers will not install that Distro. Tuxedo uses less RAM and way way less CPU power and is overall way quicker and fluid than I would say any other Distro.
I recommend Tuxedo over other Linux Distros.

Off topic question - A1RM4X, What's your current recommendation in terms of a kernel interrupt timer frequency value for tkg kernel? I usually use 1000Hz with full tickless mode.

For what it's worth, their support team is pretty good and knowledgeable. I have personal experience with them, and also heard similar feedback from friends who also own Tuxedo computers.
Not sure if I'll keep their OS in the long run; I'm more of a Gnome or Cinnamon person, and my distro of choice is Mint. Fortunately, it's possible to install Tuxedo Control Center on other distros, so I wouldn't have to give that up if I decide to switch distros.

Nice! I am not sure about tuxedo. Quite like it, but presently i prefer Mint22, installed gnome on it. But many years ago, Pop OS became my main and only distribution. Its also made by a company selling computers, like tuxedo. Those guys are serious about their stuff, certainly a slightly different focus. That helps a lot. I removed tuxedo control center from autostart, as my asus rog gaming notebook was not supported hardwarewise. Other than that, all good.

Tuxedo hardware is excellent (just be careful not to damage the graphics card when you remove the transit packaging from a tower model), but KDE Plasma is a bad choice for dual monitor workstations. It simply forgets the desktop settings for the secondary monitor with every reboot.

I tried to use TuxedoOS in 2 seperate occasions but it didn't feel right, it felt more like it's builded for Tuxedo hardware and in comparison with Pop!_OS which is also builded for System76 hardware but runs perfectly on any machine i installed it and never felt like it was only for System 76 hardware. Hello,
O would like to ask which of the following are the best for gaming on a pc with AMD cpu and gpu...Nobara, Bazzitte, Chimera or Garuda? Thanks!

    • @Blue_Thunder007
      @Blue_Thunder007 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It really doesn't matter. AMD, unlike Nvidia for example, is fully supported by Linux and their firmware is directly in the kernel, thus AMD will work (almost flawlessly) with any Linux distribution.
At this point, any of the above mentioned Distro's should work with your AMD hardware.
They all achieve the same end result in that it sets up the Linux gaming and it's efficiency out-of-the-box and you don't have to download and tweak things yourself.
That being said, you can technically achieve a "good" Linux gaming experience, on any/most distro, if you are willing to put time and research into it (not just those that are "gaming distro's")
If I had to recommend one it would probably either be Nobara (based on Fedora; slower release cycle) or Garuda (based on Arch; Faster release cycle - this could lead to more frequent OS borks)
Both of these are popular choices, and you would enter a bigger and more active community, which could lead to quicker fixes and responses on certain questions.
Bazzite looks like it could be a better alternative to Nobara. However, that and Chimera seems to be a little less popular at this time, which could potentially makes things slower/difficult for you.

If you really are a newbie, nothing in your comment makes sense. Arch is not for newbies, don't even try. There are many arch based systems more tailored to new users; like Garuda (which comes pre-configured for gaming and day to day use), or Bazzite, or even Manjaro as long as you don't use the AUR. Also don't use the Nvidia 555 driver in beta as a newbie and then complain things go wrong. A tutorial won't help if you don't understand what you're doing.
