Microsoft is too incompetent at combatting this. There will always be workarounds for their actions. And if they're successful, governments could sue them for anti competitive behavior
Microsoft is already pro-Proton. They were one of the first to whitelist their EAC games on Proton when Epic themselves won't even do it. And Epic is the one that created the necessary fixes for EAC under Proton.
Currently using the version of Lutris with the latest git commit, the latest Proton-GE is already downloaded as a runtime and the integration with umu is much better thanks to the help also from Glorius , the future looks promising.
10:25 If you have Proton-GE installed "natively", instead of clicking "manage", click the "settings" button to the left and change to proton-GE (latest) in the "wine version" drop down. I don't really do this but at least that is what I always assumed, because it always only shows the proton versions I have installed in steam AND proton-Ge that I have installed natively. And IIRC when I DID use this back in the day, if you install other versions either through lutris or natively, they will show up there too. This setting can also be overridden per game in one of the tabs in settings on the game. I don't think there is any need to copy anything from anywhere into lutris (for proton-GE). But I could be wrong here... But if it is, would it not be easier to just make a symlink? 😋
Yes only games in the database, I got a "legally" owned version for dirt 3 and it was missing a depend in its wine prefix for the game to launch so I made my first pull request on the umu database so that anyone who tries to play dirt 3 now outside of steam will get that patch so they have zero issues trying to play it So overtime this database will grow and grow and if you find a game that needs a patch you could learn how to do pull request on GitHub which is confusing I might say and took me a couple weeks to learn
@@jessehines4044 umu is for installing what steam does for games under proton If you're modding a game your better off looking at nexusmods app as that supports Linux but currently it's in development github.com/Nexus-Mods/NexusMods.App If your pirating games umu may help if there is a none game entry with no store available, it will apply what is needed for the game to operate properly under proton, if you need some dependency for a mod to work, that's up to you to install into the prefix with something like protonfixes or winefixes application

I realize this is not the right place for such a question and yet. When I turn on DXVK, some games start to lag incredibly (less than 1 fps). Could this be due to driver issues with my video card? It's pretty old
I just wanted to say that this was a pretty good explanation, without getting overly technical for beginners! I've seen a lot of other Linux TH-camrs talk about this, and a lot of their way of simplifying things I feel did not really actually fit how things work technically. Good job
if you check LACT what does it say your max vram can do to? github.com/ilya-zlobintsev/LACT/issues/394 The difference between LACT and mangohud is just due to reporting. The driver reports GDDR6 clocks at half the effective speed, LACT converts it to effective clocks so it lines up with listed hardware specs and the behaviour on windows. Mangohud likely just shows what the driver reports. 2120 cap / 2 = 1060, so it's correct.
Ez, - first method (using flatpak) : Install discord and OBS and obs vulkan add-ons and a virtual camera, Then open OBS run the camera after that open discord and choose webcam. - second method ( using pacman ) recommended: Install discord and OBS and v4l2 (virtual camera). @@dj.yacine I got the virtual camera working but it wont work because discord on wayland already has some shit screensharing pop up that doesent work so I cant go to a camera anyways
you use the camera as the screenshare, you are creating a fake webcam to use as a screenshare, the other option is using other discord web clients like goofcord, webcord, armcord, they all support screensharing under wayland with audio but the audio part will share everything including your friends talking in the call so its not great but it does the job
