I own a 1992 sc300 with that engine and a 1993 toyota supra to.thy both had misfires turn out to be main ecu capacitors start leaking inside the motherboard if yiu catch it on time it can be saved.if car just cranks it could also b a bad fuel pump ecu in the rear panel .
Just bought a 1992 sc400; after 200 miles the check engine light comes on; . Checked the gas cap - seems ok. I’ll clean the MAF/check light then clean the throttle body . You sir, henceforth will be my first point of reference .
i got a 95 sc300. had it for 3 months. started limp mode, misfires, bad exhaust smells, check engine light that wouldnt flash. just popped my ecu out and found 4 leaky capacitors. super common problem on these cars and its extremely easy to pull out and check, and different capacitors going out can cause a bunch of different problems so definitely worth trying before you waste money on parts you dont need. unless the damage is really bad anyone with basic soldering knowledge and experience can replace them just make sure you get the correct "100uf 15v" ratings for the capacitors.
I once had an Audi 5000 in 1982, after 2 trips ,changed fuel activator, fuel injectors and $1000 Canadian dollars, the chief mechanic zeroed in the problem must be the fuel relay. It was hot to touch.
I got a 97 sc300 it doesn’t run but will turn over if the throttle stays open but once closed dies immediately my obd1 scanner isn’t working and idk if this model has a obd2 port i haven’t seen it

How many miles have you added since this fix and any troubles since?
I have a 1007 done this same mod because of this issue worked okay for a while but now im having intermittent stalling and no start after a warm car

What does your steering have to do with your transmission fluid bro
You can use Dextron transmission fluid for your power steering system

96 and on have the obd 2 this has an obd 1 I believe and it’ll be near the throttle body and power steering container labeled “diagnostic”
Look below the hood release lever - it's tucked up under there
@@MelaninCaptainX it’s very limited on what you can do to read codes in the earlier models. They just weren’t designed for that.
