It took me 2 minutes - to get two steak knives - and ten seconds to release the tabs, and have the old stereo out. I re-crimped a lot of sloppy work (by the installer), and was back in 200w of bliss. THANK YOU!!!!!

I found a method which is a lot easier. All you do is park your car in a shady, bad neighborhood, leave your windows open and return the next day....radio removed :D

I had that happen and there is only one problem with this theory: You won't be able to see it removed, because the car won't be there when you wake up in the morning. FOOL :-!!!

Thank you for the inspiration. I was able to use two butter knives, and you have to put them in far enough in until you hear a click on both sides, then i was able to somewhat grab the unit with the knives an pulled.

Awesome video man. My radio / cd deck had a wire that was shorting out and it was draining my battery while the car was off which caused my battery to die so I had to get jump started. Thanks to this super easy video I was able to remove my deck. I did have to bend a few pieces of metal, but nothing serious, at least the problem at hand is now fixed. Thank you Warmenn.

Thank you very much, I was able to remove my Jensen radio from inside my RV using 2 butterknives :) .. I didn't want to use my good knives. We bought the RV used and found out the CD player eats CD's and I HAD to have my "Eagles Hotel California" CD and didn't have any way to get to it without literally breaking something which I did not want to do. It was in a Jenson Under Cabinet Stereo Housing piece so even after unscrewing from under the cabinet it was enclosed on 4 sides with no way to open. I had to remove from the sleeve, this saved me having to break something!!

Knives are fine with me if they work. Just glad he didn't try to MacGyver it with a gun. Quit hating on this dude. He did good. I just had a radio installed and I don't have sound.. and if I didn't KNOW that my speakers were bad amd beyond blown, I would be Freddie Kruegering my dash to get it out. But I don't have knives. Only guns. :-( .. and the accent is Polish. And I love it.

Thanks, dude! I just stuck one simple table knife in there on either side, ran a knife through the top and then the bottom to check if any more hooks were holding it in place, then grabbed the radio however I could with pliers and it came right out!

    I had a special case
My 2011 Chevrolet Aveo was different. It had an aftermarket radio from the previous owner.
I had to remove the plastic U piece at the bottom of the plastic cubby. I then unscrewed 4 screws holding the cubby and radio in. I took out the entire assembly, then unplugged the wires in the back. The radio was held in by 2 screws on the side (should of been 4 in total for me because it was only on the right side.) Unscrewed them and the radio came free.
The screws holding the radio blocked me from sticking a knife into the little pocket. I didn't even have a need to remove the front cover. Please don't just run in and hope it'll come out. Explore the surroundings of the radio and maybe it'll be easier or harder.

yeah sure, but you have to take out your stereo from it's casing (that metal thing around it) and yeah then install it first with those metal things being straight. After it is in its place you have to push those "things" inwards and finally you have to push your stereo back in it's casing and when it will be in the right place it will lock, as well don't forget to connect all wires before you install it :)
