After many requests, the complete guide to throwing Muay Thai knee strikes is finally here! Learning how to properly clinch is an entirely different topic of it's own, but be sure to practice your knees. Throw hundreds of knees a day -- on the heavybag, in shadowboxing, or on Thai pads -- to ensure mastery.

Just re-watched and noticed I said "palm-to-palm" for the plum, demonstrated by Dieselnoi. It is palm to the back of the hand! My mistake -- sorry everyone.

Hey Shane great video like usual man😀. I always learn something new from everyone of them😊. Do you think you could make a video in the future about how to preform and defend against hyperextended/shovel leg kicks and oblique kicks?☺ I am mostly curious on the defence of it though because I have thought about this specific technique for awhile and I have came up with a couple defenses of my own like a left side stepping right cross or circling to the left with a quick jab. But I would love to hear your opinion on them and how its done😛.

In my Muay Thai class, I wore a thin pad around my gut, probably about 3 in thick. I also wore Thai pads. The guys who I were holding for were much bigger than me. The combo was elbow, clinch, 4 knees. REALLY motivated me to work on my abs. Knees are scary!😬

Throw an elbow in the quadricep muscle of the knee the person throws. Hurts like hell for them if you do it hard enough and use the very tip of your elbow.

Hold the hip of your opponent with your two hands (bow position) then use your elbow to block the front thigh of your opponent (upper knee) to prevent getting hit by the knee.
Take it from me, I already used it in actual fight and it is very effective.

It's cool when u take the time to breaks down yod and his quick thought process in changing levels. No wonder why e was known as the "fight computer". He just seems to operate on this calm logic about how to win. If one opening isn't there he'll simply go elsewhere effectively to hit and set up.
Poor john, he wasn't even a Muay Thai fighter with any experience in knees and he ate SO many by like the worst possible person he could've clinched with EVER in the history of Muay Thai haha.
Guy was such a trooper, he didn't give up literally until his body just failed his will. Dieselnoi was such a goddamn beast.

I was taught to go with, but more and more people have learned to punch through and dosnt always work to go with the flow.

Just wanted to mention that I was working the plum with my muay thai coach and I telegraphed the knee by pulling down to early, and he did a simple pullback and tap to my ankle and I was literally airborne before he slammed me on my back. One of the more embarrassing lessons that stuck with me, keep a solid base, and either dont telegraph or get them off balance before throwing the knee.

You have explained knee strikes in the best way. I've been practicing knee strikes and knee spearing since I was 11 and that's the main thing I practice today. I've never been a upper body person so taekwondo and muay thai have screamed to me my whole life.

Shouldn't you perform a backward lever motion with the same side arm simultaneously with the knee?

That's not my forte, but perhaps I could get a guest trainer to teach it.

+ayaaz khan Devil nailed it. If you're looking for self-defense, you might want to take a general SD course too just so you know the law WRT legal use of force.
