I have a a 2011 XKR supercharger 5 litre and love it. Its done 70000 miles. If you change the oils and filters each year you should have manageable running costs , except fuel!!! . One never asks the owner of a Rolls Royce what mpg they do. The reply is usually 'the cars not for you then' I love my XKR, Brings on a good smile when you set off😁 for a trip
I bought one several months ago. The more I drive it the more I love it. I still don't know how Jag managed to put that much brutality and refinement within a single chassis. Driving an XKR is truly a Jekyll and Hyde experience.
These things are extremely reliable, especially compared to the new Ingenium engines. I’ve been on the Jaguar forums for a long time and it seems that the timing chain issues with the 5.0 are more prevalent on the Range Rover’s. Every Jaguar I’ve ever gotten has already had the water pump replaced, on my 5.0 XF the X pipe or crossover pipe cracked, and it was 3K. There is a metal replacement that should be a lot more robust. I always used Shell premium gas, but I never did any direct injector cleaner, at 140 K one of my injectors went out. It was about 1200 bucks. I highly recommend getting an injector cleaning service done or just running some high-quality cleaner.
Just got my 2nd XKR last Thursday - a 2012 @ £33k. Wonderful car 😁😁😁😁 Chopped in my utterly soulless 2016 BMW M4 (actually for what I paid for it 20 months ago), which you also reviewed a while back. NO regrets AT ALL. Infotainment may be a joke, but Soul, Noise, Engine, Ride are sublime. Worth the rise in tax to £600 ( tax is legalised theft). Thanks Jonathan for your reviews x
No, tax is a privilege that pays for the infrastructure of our society. If you want to take more of your fair slice of the pie ( pollution, road use etc) then pay more. Simples
Now that you’ve had it for a year, what are your thoughts on reliability? Would love to have one for a daily but there is not much reliability info online.
The XKR-S is 4.2, perhaps 4.0 on a good day. The XKR is 4.6-4.8. Stock. I’ve gotten 4.6 with my draggy. Perhaps I could get 4.5 but I don’t like to beat on my car now that the warranty is up LMAO.
Love it! Got an 2013 XKR! Everyday in that car gives a big smile. The sound, the performance, the feelings, just say WOW!

My dream car. My dad had a Jaguar E-Type and I am from Coventry :)

I just bought the same car in the review, except mine’s a ‘15. It’s being shipped cross country. Can’t wait til it shows up in my driveway.
Everything you said in this review is COMPLETELY true!
Appreciate that!
Excellent review
Glad you liked it!
Love the commentary.
Robust review. Worth considering why such a thorough review gets so few views?
Thanks!
Is this a good daily driver
Yes! I've had a '13 model for three years and love it. It surprises me to see so few on British roads.
Po co ten pasek na ekranie? 🤦♂️
The 0 to 60 is 4 seconds not 4.8
