- Ryan video blogs about the new 2013 Jaguar XKR. This car features a 510-horsepower supercharged V8, rear-wheel drive, face-bending physics and lots of leather for just over $100,000.
**Update: to completely disable traction and stability control, hold the DSC button for 10 seconds.
BEST CAR EVER MADE.... I loved my 2013 XKR-S so much I went out and bought another XKR!!! BEST!!! EVER!!!!
Same reason why I have two.
How is the reliability of the car. is it well made or do you have challenges?
Surprisingly very reliable. I own a XKR / XKRS / and XF. I have only had a blower motor resister go bad on the XKR. Outside of that, no issues with any one that I own.
The reliability is just like EVERY CAR that your dumb ass buy💯💖and that's what make a jag SPECIAL
I loved my XKR. Sold it for a Ferrari. Love that too! But I want another XKR sooo bad, I'm definitely going to get another.
i absolutely love jaguar and the cars they make along with aston martin, bentley, mclaren, noble, lotus, spyker, rolls royce, and tesla
I borrowed this car from a friend I met at my Eagle Scout car wash. It was a 2011 model yet was identical and basically new. Let me borrow it for a week before prom and he and I took it on 264 in Norfolk to get a more feel for the car. Told me to let it go and I got her up to 157. Love this car. In return, I did a full rendering of his car in autoCAD. Have pics and vids on my channel of the car. Love this car!
Way too much face time, not nearly enough car footage.
Amen to THAT. Like a porno, we do not need to see the dude at all.
Good vis tho thank you!
The XKR is an awesome car. My sister-in-law has one and it is a dream to drive. Love it.
Love this review. Very entertaining and informative. I'm actually bringing home of one these beauties in about 3 weeks (convertible version). I chose the Active Sport Exhaust option for more roar and after watching this video I'm thinking "Oh dear God, what have I created?!"
You turn traction control fully off by holding the button for 15 seconds…. Then it will let you do all the burnouts and donuts you want 👍🏻
Was just at Jaguar R a Performance academy... We DID take all the nannies off and did donuts like mad. In trac DSC I got the xkr's rear sideways and it scared the heck out of me!!
Sorry, 10 seconds didn't deactivate it on our car. Don't assume because you didn't see it that we didn't do any research.
Just ordered the 2013 XKR convertible! Can't wait!
E55 was specifically mentioned to bring up a particular experience, not because it's the most direct competitor from the AMG stable (which, as you point out, it's not.)
Thanks, there will be a few more like this in the coming weeks!
Those seats are the optional performance seats without cooling.... The regular seats add cooling but are less grabby...and less cool lol
5 seconds 0-60 means he screwed something up.
Its actually capable of about 4.2 secs.
Completely disable the DSC by pushing the button more than 9 seconds; also, Road/Track got a 4.2 sec 0-60 time. But the XKs are GTs and deliberately err on the side of comfort. Mine's a daily driver and very comfortable on long hauls; try that in a GT-R without needing a chiropractor. I never have to wonder which one is mine in a parking lot like any SL or 6 series owner. I still think this is the most beautiful car in the world for less than 100k and the approving stares tell me I'm right.
Amen!
Pull the DSC control fuse out if it stops you doing donuts but I'm sure in the wet you won't have a problem.
I must say, I can't find a car that is better than this new XKR. It's so composed, and unbelievably gorgeous. And I'm sorry, if you spent $100.000 on a Nissan GT-R rather than this exquisite British masterpiece, then you are a complete idiot. The XKR is the best, and that's the end of it.
Your je ne sais quoi is called the Jaguar experience, there is no other feeling like it
Damn haters. Find a way to enjoy the video or just stop watching. Better yet buy this car and make your own video review and see how well you do it.
Back to the car. I'm impressed with jaguar's XKR and the new F-Type. I own Maserati Quattroporte and was thinking of getting Maserati GranTurismo but the F-Type and XKR are intriguing and cost much less.
in theory it should be doing it in about 4.3-4.5 seconds. But for that you need to turn off TC and also build up some revs against the torque converter.
No, the R8 is rear-mid-engine design (close to the back axis). The Jag seems to have a front-mid-engine design close to the front wheels, but still behind the axis). Real mid-engine designs are usually used for busses (that is when the engine is usually under the floor in the middle).
That was a very good video Ryan, very natural. You should have got some interior shots while you were talking about it at the end! Anyways, excellent job!
That was a fun blog, Ryan. Thanks!
the sound of that car is eargasmic.
I love this guy... he nails the jaguar and get this s*** eating grin on his face and then lets loose with this Elmer Fudd giggle. Pure joy!
Lovely car. One of my favourite brands now. The british are starting to get the build and quality to match their design talents now. The xkr is a better all rounder than this but those lines are sublime! Just so elegantly understated but with that slightly naughty look which gives it that edgy 'thing' that all r badge jags have.
Honestly, would get the new M6 at this point. This car is just ancient, and I am a huge Jaguar fan.
Fantastic sound
Palmer Racing use these cars on their circuits and they are impossible to spin with the traction control on.
I absolutely love my convertible version and much prefer it to the F-Type which has harder seats and harder ride with a noisy, 'plasticky' cabin - 90 minutes on a motorway has you reaching for the tablets...
An XKR will cruise all day in padded luxury and leave you as fresh as a daisy 😊
You have to hold the traction button for 10 seconds and you hear the noise...That's when you go ahead and make all the donuts you want and get it side ways and do some mean drifting😎
reviews are pointless if you won't show exterior footage of the car as you are driving it
Nice review. 0-60 is fairly academic in the opinion of most testers, it's just a headliner with no concern for damaging their own car. A revered journalist here in the UK called LJK Setright (Len to his friends!) said that 60-90 in no more time than 0-60 is truly FAST and this one has tested it in 3.2 seconds locked in 3rd, 2.5 in kickdown. So you are right, the XKR IS more capable; you have to drive it to realise it.You say Jagwar and we say Jaguar, but let's not call the whole thing off!
"this is umm.... wow! this is like sueeede...." while rubbing it with an amazed face. Got me laughing so hard!!!
Absolutely beautiful!
I can do donuts with mine! Anyone else?
Ryan used a poor choice of words. Your are obviously correct.
I'm buying this car for weekend shopping trips
DAMN RIGHT it looks better than ANY OF THEM💯💯💯💯💯😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Have you watched any of our other reviews?
It's a Jaaaaaaaaaag! I love it!
Awesome review, loved it.
I think he was really funny and genuine.
55 AMG's haven't been around in quite a long time, the 63 has been the E for a few years. The SL63 is XKR money, so that is a competitor.
Well the SLS AMG is also considered a mid-engine car. So I guess you could say the R8 is a rear mid-engine car.
What year e 55 were you talking about?
Jaguar Rules!
you can make donuts, hold the traction button for 10 sec.
Have you driven an "R"? Maybe so, but you must not get the same kick out of the greater acceleration than do I. The 510 supercharged hp are addictive to a certain segment of the XK (or XF) customers. That's why they offer both...you get yours and I get mine. We're both happy.
I love English cars, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Lotus in particular. Unfortunately they are too pricy for me, still like em though.
Lotus - as in Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious!
Hey Eric,
Good news! You can buy a really nice Jag for under ten Grand. Mercedes BMW Acura Infiniti.... all of these import luxury cars can be bought very cheaply. The more exotic the cheaper you can buy them for. People don't want to buy exotic import cars because they think the repair bills are going to be too high. That's true and in some cases more true than others. But you can buy these things so far below book you can afford to make repairs if you have to. With Jaguar, I believe Ford bought them in 1997 and got rid of Manny of the troubles that came with British cars like Lucas electrical. So they've just gotten cheaper to fix and they're more reliable. I used to be able to buy things a lot cheaper when I was a car dealer but I'm retired now and live on a fixed income thanks to my ex-wife, but I just bought a 2000 S-Type with 90,000 miles on it and it's perfect. It looks the same as the last year they made them in 2008 and it is a timeless style with the side Swoosh and the oval Grill it's classic in its design and always will be. I paid 3300 bucks for it.
People are really afraid of Mercedes... when I was a dealer back in 2003 I bought a 99 E-Class in really nice condition for $10,000 below wholesale Kelley Blue Book. I think I paid 18 five for it. Wholesale was over 28,000.
In 2011 I bought a 2005 S-Type for 5000 back of wholesale. Sooooooo ,
My favorite car of all time is the S-Type since I can't afford a 60's era XKE. My 2000 S-Type will always look like a $25,000 car used. I'm not trying to fool anybody I just like the stupid car and will probably drive it till I die. But it makes me feel normal to drive it. A little bit of the good life before my ex-wife traded her angel wings in for a broom.
thats a nice ride
I must say that it is possible to do doughnuts with the XK-R. I have even tried with a "normal" XK 5.0 (385 bhp). All you have to do is turn the traction control off, and hang on to your underwear :)
Dude,Can hear you and see the car at the time?
Excuse me!?
the audi r8 doesn't have a rear engine, it has a mid engine.
you can do donuts all day long..... you didnt turn the tcs completely off......The rear seats aren't actually as bad as he says either; I've been in the back of one of these and at 5'11" it wasn't uncomfortable. The only reason you would be in the back anyway is if you are fucking around with your friends in the car, who won't care because of how insane the thing is, or you have kids, who also wouldn't care because the car makes a noise like a pissed off lion
8:30 - Perhaps "Alcantara" was the word you were looking for.
Turn off traction control to fix the throttle hesitation when in sharp turn so you can make some doughnuts.
basgetz it looks bad ass. Same designers who work on Aston Martins
What a car and how exciting to get the F-TYPE , that´s a sports car ,where this one a GT
Thank you
Trust me you can do doughnuts in this car if you so wish. Even Cameron Diaz managed it on 'Top Gear '
couldnt you take all that control off and do donuts similar to the DBS?
Is this much improved over the 2010 version?
Wow thanks!!God Bless you also!!!
Isn't the RS the one with 510 HP
and the R with 420 HP?
The R is 510 the RS had 550
Dat back seat lol
Frankly, I don't think the guy turned off the traction control system completely.
My 2005 S Type R can do 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, can seats 5 but costs way way cheaper:)
I borrowed this car for from yet it was a 2011 model, almost identical though. Love this car. The owner that I borrowed it from told me to let it go i
my X-mas present!
Please ditch the compressed sound on the vids it sounds terrible mp3 crap ...apart from that great vid ;)
PLEASE tell me that you are actually buying one of these cars that you consider smokes the XKR, or that you already have one and have had the time to really get to know it and others before it. I can respect your opinion without agreeing with it. What bugs me is that when you ask many guys whether they've actually owned the cars (I've had a few incl the XKR a STUNNING car), the response is "oh I read it in a mag" or "I've seen a video". Yeah right dreamer! Forgive me if you are not one of those!
This guy seems like his daily driver is a prius
He didn't have the traction fully off
Sorry I'm on the wrong tack to the comments about performance facts. If you're driving cred depends on not being left behind in street races, then the XKR is out, fact. But these mag/blog testers do seem awestruck with the DEPTH and CHARACTER of the XKR's performance, no put-down about standing-start stats, they obviously frequently drive faster cars on paper. I've owned faster cars than the XKR. So I'm gonna leave by saying that if you know you've got the right car for YOU, that's what counts.
is it quite inside no wind noises??
Watch the show more, you'll find you this is a very untrue remark.
Cool
Thx!
how about 660+bhp Supercharged V8 in Shelby GT500
Did you attend academy in Vegas?
EPIC??? YOU SAID THAT??/ .......CHRIST WAY TOO MUCH OF A FACE WHERE IS THE CAR???
Nice...
I have the old 4.2 and still love it after 3 years "Jag number 35 for me as i'v always hadem like me dad before me...though Im looking now for a good used 5.0 if anyone in the Uk has one to sell?..bugger the Uk dealers ext..
Dude (this reviewer) ...... you are breaking laws so many times while reviewing this car. Mainly .... You were reading while driving & second you stopped on a freeway when there was no emergency .... WTH ?
TechFreak51 djnfnffnf
TechFreak51 dkfkckd
TO TURN TC OFF FULLY HOLD DSC BUTTON FOR 10 SEC .!!!!!
"I want to make doughnuts....."...... Oh man first world problems.
Can't play video!?!
@ 6:39 E63 not E55!
@ 9:24 "We now have traction control off, in sport mode, traction DSC is disabled..."
Those are the optional seats...
Every since i can remember,NO idiot can beat me on my fucking Jaguar😎i smash the Gas,the Jag GONE!Only thang that can rival a jag is an Aston Martin💯💯💯😁😁😁
I would think that in order to do donuts, or drift the car you need to turn off the STABILITY control as well as the traction control. Only turning off traction control will only let you spin the tires in a straight line. At least that's the way it works in my BMWs. But I would assume that a test driver would already know that so perhaps it's a Jaguar thing?
Stability control is 100% defeatable...he didnt do it right... I got my XKR sideways and it didnt help me at all...Its a scary car if you allow the beast to get loose!!!!
lothar52 Yup. That Cat will bite HARD if you turn the right nanny off. I have done it in mine, and it is no joke.
gummiesrule88 lothar52 not scary at all if you are a decent driver. im sorry to say this but the xk has a super long wheel base making it a easier car to drive when sideways .
$100k and no doughnuts ! Does it scratch my balls when they itchy ?
Overpriced? Or is it that you just can't afford it?...Don't resent the rich, if it weren't for them, you wouldn't have a job, after all, some douchebag had to be brave enough to build a company from the ground up for others to have a way to eat. If you had the heart to employ others or make big investments, you'd want a vehicle that matches your accomplishments as well. #Stepyour gameup.
Jagwaar oh dear.
Could be worse; at least he didn't call it a 'Jagwire'.
I switched off at “Jagwar” 😡
I'm sorry but over here in the States we're just not going to say Jag U R.
Do you think that perhaps you might be coming off a little pretentious and stuffy. I don't mean anything, I'm just tryin' to help.
Anyway, they pronounce it Jagwaaaaar, and its made out of Aloomnumb.
Norman Clature no it’s not an American car, it’s pronounced how it’s spelt. J A G U A R
How can you be so stupid???
@@paulgabolinscy2502 , you've managed to demonstrate that you're not so clever your self. 'Spelled' is the correct past form of to spell, whereas 'spelt' is a type of wheat. How could you be so, what was your comment? You fucking smart arse.
@@paulgabolinscy2502 , you've managed to demonstrate you're not so clever your self haven't you...'Spelled' is the correct past form of 'spell', whereas 'spelt', as you wrote, is a type of wheat commonly used in sourdough and other breads. What was it you said....how could Norman be so stupid? You fucking dim-witted mong!
Wtf are the Broncos doing?
jaguars now live only in the Americas, they are descended from Old World cats. Two million years ago In the early. The forerunners of modern jaguars crept across Beringia, the land bridge that once spanned the Bering Strait and connected Asia and North America. These jaguar ancestors then moved south into Central and South America. The Jaguar is indigenous to the Western Hemisphere.Jaguars are not native to the UK.You can't lay claim to the pronunciation just because you named a car after it...
Very interesting review. As a current XK Porfolio owner I really can not understand why anyone needs the R version or the RS in the real world. I agree with you on the SatNav, completely useless IMHO.
This guy sound like Data from Star Trek :)
Haha. It's alright, man. I'm just having a laugh..( and dangling some bait into the water to entice an arguement. ;-) )
