@___Anakin.Skywalker you know what I work and don't have time to hear your nonsense. I'm just going to school you real quick. Lebron came into the NBA in 2003 and was one of the most explosive players in the league. He played for Cleveland for 7 years, FAILING to win a championship. That made him uneasy so he took the easy route and joined up with Dwayne Wayde and Chris Bosh to form the Big 3 in Miami in 2010. They won the championship in 2012 (which was deserved). 2013...Heat DOWN 3 games to 2 in NBA finals to the Spurs. Heat down 3 pts with less than 10 seconds remaining. Lebron air balls his 3 pt attempt....the game tying attempt...Chris Bosh saves him with an incredible rebound and somehow finds Ray Allen on the corner behind the 3 pt line. Ray Allen hits the game tying 3 pointer in game 6 of the NBA Finals (where Heat are DOWN 3 games to 2). Heat end up winning that game in overtime and they end up winning game 7 and win that finals. This did not exist in Jordan's career. (Not sure about Kobes because I was a bulls fan). Jordan hit game winners in game 6 of NBA finals. Either that or he assisted the game winner. I want to ask the youth "when you watch this, can you feel something different than how it feels today?" This is the time I grew up, and it reminds me when the world felt smaller, and more adventurous, like anything could be out there that is undiscovered. Getting to see something like this wasn't available at all times, you had to be there when it was happening, so it felt special to see. I'm not trying to make today's world feel bad, but I can't tell if I was just young and that's why it felt that way. I was a huge basketball fan and Kobe Bryant fan.

Bro the old heads would get hammered. LeBron is 260 effing pounds. Everyone can SHOOT now! 3 points worth more than 2! Nobody shot like that then because no one was efficient enough to make it work!
@@mbr05c You don't know basketball, you never played elite or professional. Otherwise, you would know. I played back then professionally. Guys like you who play AAU hoop get run out of the gym literally. The reason why you shoot now is because the NBA wanted to increase scoring by design. They didn't want a defensive league anymore. All you have to do is look at PF and PA from 2004 onward. You will see it clear as day the upward trajectory if you wanna see it. That means everyone benefited from a wide-open lane. The NBA is not tougher or more skilled now. Shooting threes and travelling and flopping all over the place is not a skill. Real skill goes both ways! O and D. Can you handle the rock without carrying the ball and turning it over play at a high HOF level. Bron can't do that, he leads all-time turnovers and missed shots! What happens when the defensive 3 sec in the lane is removed? This means big real centers who shot block camp out, multiple of them. you get by your guy, there are 2-4 other guys waiting. What happens when forearms and handcecks are allowed? This means they can control your movement with one hand on your hip, refs can't see that most of the time. Okay, you wanna shoot threes? you wanna spread the floor? Okay, we can counter that. all they gonna do is lay hands on you without fouling. This creates fatigue and missed shots. wear and tear. What happens when there is tight space? This means you have to have a serious skill bag to manoeuvre within that small space. Because you have far more people in your way to attack you and make you uncomfortable. All that fancy dribbling will not work once they bump you. you will lose control. None of that exists now. you can blow by one guy and that's it. Most of the time. every blue moon you get someone who really blocks it. NBA is trash today, with ratings flopping for the past 30 years! NOBODY IS WATCHING! Christmas is down 73%. bro -73%!?? In my business, you get fired for that!
@andrew - a good experiement would be to showcase late 80s-90s - early 2000s rules vs today. organise it and show them, they will see how hard it is. Bron would get knocked on his ass. These are guys who didn't care about suspensions. No fake Draymonds. I'm talking about Maurice Lucas, Kermit Washington, Charles Oakley, Xavier McDaniel, Sir Charles, Michale Cage, Karl Malone, Bad Boys and many more. Guys were fit and strong and they had grit and effort. They will literally fight you on the spot. Rodman was so strong, he was the same height as Bron, and lighter, but his low base kept SHAQ out of the lane. Shaq weighed 301 lbs!!! Today players don't have that. They are most entitled. Load managing BS. They love the fame, not the game like we did. These delusional jitterbugs have no clue about getting hit in that lane and the cheap shots. they have no clue. no repercussions.
absolutely brilliant performance and what a fantastic welcome to the nba moment from the goat to arguably the one who resembled him the most and was as driven as him
Firstly, I'm a Detroit Piston Fan. But, "Mike" was the Man. Was watching the video with My six month old Grandson, and he would stop whatever he was doing to watch Both of the Michael Jordan sideline interviews. LOL... Love the Video!!!
I remember watching this game live. I knew I was watching something special, but I had no idea this was gonna be such a classic. What a memorable game to savor so many years later.
Did you see Michael in 2nd half?? He would've been the best PG ever Had he played that position for all his career. That stretch of games in 1989 confirms that (He played PG for kind of 13 games, with 12 triple double, and triple double average, with 35 ppg)
Yeah. just look at how dedicated Michael was to his midrange game. As a point guard he would have been just as determined to get those assist. Would have been making sure his teammates knock down those jumpers he throws to them.
When all the players came to have fun, MJ came to add another trophy to his collection. This is the heart of a champion. Not to say the others are not, but he definitely cashed in on many talented people sleeping on the job.
Jordan is the greatest for this reason alone: He led the league in scoring 10 times, and he was voted by his peers to be on the 1st Team Defense 9 times. Nobody has come close to those stats....ever.
In a weak era. No one doubts Jordan, but know why those things were the way they were. Jordan was great in an era of few and aging stars with more teams than there had ever been. Of course, any of the greats would have had those types of performances. Jordan even said it himself, he wished he could have played in an era with more competition like Kobe’s era.
@@wordragon...You call the 90s a weak era?? Are you kidding me? Who are these 'few and aging stars' you allude to? From 1989 until 1999, some of the greatest stars played the game....THE ERA OF THE ORIGINAL DREAM TEAM??...you seem to forget??...A time when stars played offense and defense....And who were the champions during that era: Pistons (2), Bulls (6), Rockets (2) and Spurs (1)...four of the greatest teams that played in the NBA...Before the era of superstars looking for to play with other superstars....LeBron??. If you call the 2000-2010 era great, well guess what? Lakers (5), Pistons (1), Spurs (3), Heat (1) and Boston (1) were the only champions....It seemed that Kobe's era had the weaker competition.....After 2010, I don't even consider those teams as great as the ones in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s....No defensive playing showboaters who often hurt themselves who rarely played a full season......
@@wordragon dumb.. Jordan was in the strongest era.. did you even watch the video ? Jordan said that because he wanted the competition.. always.. you think 6’4 Steph curry locking Jordan down? (His daddy couldn’t) you think 6’4 Anthony Edward’s is? Luka? 😂 Kobe era was the end of the nba. He was the closest to MJ and that’s just because he stole all his moves and talked to him every night on the phone. Even Kobe didn’t have the hang time MJ had and why you didn’t see him doing triple pump fakes. There’s MJ then there’s everyone else fighting for second all time
Amazing to think this was the beginning of 20 years of Kobe greatness. Just as if Michale Jordan passed the baton to Kobe. I do remember that game when Kobe scorched a Wizards MJ for 55 pts and Michael's response was "the guy was hot tonight".
This is basically a microcosm / mini version of how their careers ended up: MJ 10/18 - 55% (including 5/6 in the head-to-head match ups with Kobe) Kobe 7/16 - 43% (0/4 head-to-head) MJ better shot selection with Kobe attempting more flash (and making some - but missing more) All the while MJ casually picking up 8 assists / 6 rebounds
Kobe was learning from MJ early on and you can tell MJ had a lot of influence on his game. Kobe would even stop and ask MJ questions about his post up moves during this game according to Mike. He was a student and it paid off big time.
@@unknownname6519you’re exactly right. But their career numbers and playing styles more or less reflect this game. Mike efficient, higher % and smarter overall game. Kobe eager, and successful at times but his risk taking would often have consequences.

Looking at this brings back good memories from the mid and late 90s. My high school yrs what a time it was to be a teenager watching all the guys in there prime. R.I.P Kobe
Just rewatching this game is crazy. They tried double teaming Mike and the players he passed the ball to even scored. He really be giving any player on his team ultra instinct 😂
You can still see tho that MJ's first step was crazy explosive, he relied heavily on that to create advantage for all of his shots. Then there was his leaping ability (on display here as well, Garnett couldn't even sniff his shot for example), to create even more space, and if all of that failed, he'd fake you out and step into layup range, like he did it with Kobe. Most foundamentally sound player i've ever seen on a basketball court, he had the full package in his prime.
yeah .. we had a little b&w box and there was Bob Pettit of the St Louis Hawks, the incredible Jerry West and prob several others you never heard of too ... i was such a kid i actually thought that the Cincinnati Royals were named AFTER Oscar Robertson.. You can't imagine most NBA players you imagine, without the Big O and/or Jerry West.
@mucleboy0151 Why? Because you want them to be? :) Dream on, kid. Lebron doesn‘t have the stats, nor the accolades. He is an overglorified marathon man. Ten years after his retirement (and there won‘t be another ring), the goat claim of his devoted fanboys will be dead as most of his hair folicles. ;)
There will never be an assembly of All-stars of this magnitude ever again in all of our lifetimes. This is when the NBA was something special to watch. Not so much anymore imo.
This is a fantastic game with all the legendary NBA players, everyone has unique experience playing on the basketball courts by using their own real hands & feet prints! You can clearly see the game is not only just a game, all the best players from NBA teams representing East Coast vs West coast. This was for Biggie & 2pac wish forever came true after they passed away, and they adore basketball!

In this game Jordan knew this 19 year old “kid” was cut from the same cloth. Kobe showed a lot of respect for MJ, but never backed off. He recognised MJs greatness and stood tall against it. He knew he needed to learn from the best and this was his opportunity.

It's crazy to see how serious they are taking this game. Wish the All Star games now would go back to this!
As a Pistons fan, MJ was the best. No question.
They have no clue, all they know is AAU chuck the ball and play zero D. That's the NBA today. NO SKILL! NO GRIT, NO TOUGHNESS AND FULL OF ENTITLEMENT.
its the slower lower fps olden time broadcasting that you feel, and kobe got blown up to pieces, lost his arm with tattoos and his daughter. your a fan of a bum, EVISCERATED. modern nba is evolved dont talk anymore please! people in this allstar game couldnt even score trash!!

He would've been the best PG ever
Had he played that position for all his career.
That stretch of games in 1989 confirms that
(He played PG for kind of 13 games, with 12 triple double, and triple double average, with 35 ppg)
Yeah. just look at how dedicated Michael was to his midrange game. As a point guard he would have been just as determined to get those assist. Would have been making sure his teammates knock down those jumpers he throws to them.
MJ could dominate any positions from 1-3, where ever they played him he dominated and it wasn't close.
Exactly. No question. Look at that pass to Reggie.
When all the players came to have fun, MJ came to add another trophy to his collection. This is the heart of a champion. Not to say the others are not, but he definitely cashed in on many talented people sleeping on the job.
I wonder how many people back then realized that they were witnessing a highlight of pure historical greatness 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐
There’s MJ then there’s everyone else fighting for second all time
I remember this game! Him and Kobe went back and forth like crazy. They made this game 1 of the most tuned into games in history.
Made me go back and play NBA JAMS again...so many HOFs on 1 court!
Kobe was like 19, which is an accomplishment in itself
Amazing to think this was the beginning of 20 years of Kobe greatness. Just as if Michale Jordan passed the baton to Kobe. I do remember that game when Kobe scorched a Wizards MJ for 55 pts and Michael's response was "the guy was hot tonight".

one of the best all star game. displays pure talents of players around the league, never gets old. love that j13 though
This is basically a microcosm / mini version of how their careers ended up:
MJ 10/18 - 55% (including 5/6 in the head-to-head match ups with Kobe)
Kobe 7/16 - 43% (0/4 head-to-head)
MJ better shot selection with Kobe attempting more flash (and making some - but missing more)
All the while MJ casually picking up 8 assists / 6 rebounds
Exactly right!
One of Them was a boy in this game.. The other one was a grown man.. We simply had no Chance to See them both in their prime at one time..

MJ was in 2nd-3rd Gear…chillin. Kobe was in 4th Gear.
@kanajingly8957it was an all star game. Chill 🤣
Just search on TH-cam, they called steps many times on Jordan in regular games
Kobe was in first gear guaranteed, he was trying to outplay and impress his mentor .
Actually Kobe was in overdrive
You can still see tho that MJ's first step was crazy explosive, he relied heavily on that to create advantage for all of his shots. Then there was his leaping ability (on display here as well, Garnett couldn't even sniff his shot for example), to create even more space, and if all of that failed, he'd fake you out and step into layup range, like he did it with Kobe. Most foundamentally sound player i've ever seen on a basketball court, he had the full package in his prime.
Crazy how Kobe assisted himself at 9:20
AND THAT, ladies and gentleman, is why he’s the GOAT 🐐!
