I agree. No scam. Slow cooked lamb is a delicacy SR30 (£6) is a fair price, as is SR15 (£3) for Chicken Tikka.
I wish the Riyal was 5 to the pound when I worked there. I would be a much richer man (it was between 6.5 and 7.5 so fewer pounds and euros to send home 😢).

Some people may get surprised that you were in Madina, but you weren’t Muslims. It’s being for 10s of years Madina not open for none-Muslims. Therefore, people started to think it’s only for Muslims.
Anyway, I’m so glad you got to visit Madina and see Prophet Mohammed Masjid. I hope you learned more about Islam and it’s been an eye opening lovely experience.
By the way Saudi Arabia is a big country as you know, and they are many places I wish you had visited. For example, the South and the East provinces are very different places with different cultures.
I hope you come back again to Saudi Arabia. You guys are more than welcome in my country. We happy to see you.

Lost in translation. The poor yemeni guy was not trying to scam you. Sheep/lamb prices have been very expensive in the last few years. One full sheep/ goat goes from 1000 to 1500 riyals from local farm. If you order laham at the restaurant expect it to be expensive or the meat portion to be quite small. It’s better to cook it at home coz that’s what we do.

Medina was called “Yathrib” before the migration of the Prophet peace be upon him, as this name was mentioned in the Quran on the lips of some hypocrites:
, and the prophet peace be upon him, changed its name from Yathrib to Medina And he forbade the use of its old name, so he said: “Whoever says to Medina (Yathrib), then let him seek God’s forgiveness.” (Musnad Imam Ahmad 4/285)
