    Been making my own for years. THe Love Bugs here in FL demand it.. Quick tip, put the water in first, then add everything else. No foam, no wasted products.

    If you don't have amonia, you can use vinegar as a substitute. Vinegar also keeps mineral deposits from clogging the tubes if you're using tap water instead of distilled H2O. Excellent video, btw!

      @@WavScorn259 More alcohol is what is needed in the winter to prevent freezing. Vinegar acts as a cleaning agent the alcohol acts as a "flashing" agent for quicker drying and less streaking.

    Guns n gear, what's not to like?! Great hack, I was going to make my own since it's no longer a 99c convenience, it's watered down at $3-4! It doesn't gret below 32 degrees out here, but the alcohol is a good reminder in case I travel.

    I love your suggestion! It also will probably help clean your sensor. Rain X made my washer sensor clog so the light stayed on until cleaned.

      If you drive in winter condition be sure and add a lot more alcohol so it will not freeze.

    Quarter cup widow cleaner, teaspoon of dawn, quarter cup of alcohol 70%, 3 drops coloring and finish with water.

      @@steftheengie2904 No. I’m in West Virginia. It’s from the 30’s down to single digits throughout the winter here. It varies. With the wind chill it can be 10 degrees below at times. Not for long though.

    I drive a truck and keep a small bottle of dawn with me. I'll squirt a good bit in the windshield cleaner bucket at truck stops. It's better than the free stuff that's there already, and other drivers don't know it, but appreciate it 🤣

      I hear about adding DAWN to my washer fluid tank(1 tbs per gallon) about five years ago and bugs come right off and Road grime don’t stand a chance against it.

      yep here is how to do it. you have to wait until you have hiccups. then tip in the mix in between the Hicks. and count hick one and hick two and off you blinking go.

    Tap water ok as long as it's not rusty like well water or you have bad pipes. Also to test if it has enough alcohol let the container sit in freezing weather outside over night or for a few days to see if it freezes or not. I put 6-8 oz of alcohol in my gallon. Dollar tree's alcohol is only 50%. use 70% or 90%

    Dawn strips your wax finish. I would avoid this on any paint you care about. But a good option if its just a daily driver that you dont care much about.

      I am not washing my car with it and any small amount that might make it to the paint would be pretty harmless. Been using this for years with no ill effects to paint.

    I drive a plow truck in Chicago, we all go through these so fast that I had to look how to make it cuz half these gas stations are out of it or it's $6 a jug and the rest of the places are closed cuz the bullshit going on

      @@lifeunplanned7058 I used way more alcohol and was fine but J guess it could be my truck was running so often idk if that kept it from freezing or thawed it if it was frozen when I first started but I think it was good and I didn't notice freezing or have anything break from expanding

      Hasnt hurt mine. If you are not comfortable with it leave it out and just do the alcohol.

    One thing that needs to be mentioned.
    Only use this on the EXTERIOR of the window. Do NOT use ammonia on the interior of the window if you have window tint. It will ruin it.

    Distilled water is the best. Won't leave mineral deposits in your system.

      Distilled water adds cost, similar to buying the windshield.

    My 2cents, add the 2 squirts of dish liquid at the very end to prevent the foam up?

      Probably will not mix into the water. Just run the water slow and it will not foam up. I did that to show what to do if it does.

    I'm a truck driver an in colder weather -32 i use alcohol from the dollar store an a bottle. To keep from freezing.

      My fluid froze. How many cups or whatever would you put in a reservoir that’s 59% -45 fluid and 59% summer fluid? I’m tempted to use a cup (250ml) to make it migrate to the tubes... dunno.

      An adjustment.. I'm in Michigan an it was 8 degrees out an yes im still adjusting. Go to dollar store an buy some rubbing alcohol.. Keep warm.. I hear long winter coming....WTF

    companies says. windshield washers liquid have polyphobic coating material etc. that layered windshield for raining days , which slips raining water automatically without wiper on. is that true?

    2:54 "Foam up" Why not put the water in first? That way you can go faster because you go full bore with the water, then put the other stuff in it and give it a few good shakes.

      You could do it that way but if you put the water in slow it will not foam and I feel it gets mixed the best putting it in first.

    What type of dish soap was that? In the UK, we have "Fairy" dishwashing soap. Can i use this instead?

    The only issue I have with this video is the fact that he is using tap water. He may not have hard water where he lives, but still, it is in important part of making sure you don't get severe water spots on very hot days. Also, I've not see n anyone add any type of water beading products to the mixture. It is always good to mix in something to keep water from staying on your windshield when using your DIY windshield cleaner.

      Just add more alcohol. For a gallon maybe a cup or more. Best method to test it is do what mix you think will work and stick it in the freezer for a couple of days to see if it freezes. If it does thaw it out and add more alcohol till it does not freeze and that will be your winter recipe.

      It just the bubbles not the soap for the most part. Use this formula to this day and it still works great.

      Never had a problem. Most of these ingredients is used in commercial fluids. The ammonia is really the only thing you need to be a little careful with.

    Let's see, Dawn can remove wax, ammonia overtime can damage rubber, can also damagEe window tint if it gets on it. Will these small amounts ever do anything, probably not, but I'll stick with the four bucks it cost. 🤣

      Car wash soap can be used instead of Dawn.

    Completely useless and potentially dangerous advice. According to my research, the blue stuff sold as -20 degree F fluid is at least 25% methanol. The -30 stuff is closer to 40%. That tablespoon of alcohol you added is essentially doing nothing. Bottom line, use whatever you want if you live in a warm weather climate. For cold weather, it seems to me that the cheapest option by far is to buy actual washer fluid if you want adequate protection from freezing.

      Do you own a windshield washer fluid company? Because there is no way it's cheaper to buy it than make it yourself. Even if you fill it half way with alcohol.
