Most muscle cars from the 1960s did not have automatic transmissions. Probably most vehicles didn't have automatics in the 1960s. It was a very expensive option so most people probably didn't buy automatics.
@jud dude I never said automatics weren't available in the 1960s. I said automatics probably weren't as popular as manuals because automatics costed more than manuals back in the 1960s. I had an AMC Rambler from the 1960s that had an automatic transmission. And that was one of the cheapest American cars you could get.
@@landonfranklin1170 I can remember that in 1979 when a Fiat X19 & a Jeep CJ5 Renegade Levi edition were both $9,000 an automatic transmission cost $800 extra. That was adding about 9% to the cost of a vehicle at a time when automatics were more common than manuals.

It's just your memory of how you perceived things were in the 1960s versus my memory of how I perceived things were in the 1960s. I was just a kid in the 1960s so there is a very good chance I am wrong. But I remember automatics being mostly for old people, women, and luxury cars / luxury station wagons.

My first car was a 66 mustang. Had air conditioner under the dash . I'm like where will I put my 8 track. My friend is like where you going to get money to fill it up? 35.9 cents a gallon. Guess I find a road that goes downhill a long way. 😄 Dad since I'm not taking your car out tonight.... How much gas you have in it. 😏 More than what you going to get. 😄
In July of 1967 I purchased my first and only brand new car, a 1967 Corvette convertible, 4-Speed, base engine, 3.08 rear, side-pipes and drove it trouble free for 125,000 miles. The only repair I had was brake pads and regular oil and filter. I even towed my boat with it. Back then it was only a car. Wish I still had it!
Sweet. I had a 67 mustang 289 coupe as my first car. Did a huge amount of work on it. Nice to see the parts that were identical. That silly washer squirt bulb and the emergency brake handle that I broke off twice. the fuel pump, etc. Gorgeous car. keep the rust away. They love to rust. :)

Fantastic mustang. Its totally obvious you love that car. I have a 68 Mustang I bought in my senior year of high school, 1977. 42 years now and I'll never sell it. I love mine too.289 coupe, power steering, factory air conditioning, automatic and 4 wheel manual drums lol. Life long southern California car, bought new in Palm Springs. Its nearly as nice as yours. It also has the turn signal indicators in the hood and yes they look cool at night. And they just make the hood better looking. Thanks for sharing your car with us.

Nice! He's a lucky fella. He's about as crazy with that car as I was back in 67 when it was released. But I was only 11. They became very squeaky as they aged, but with modern bushings that's not a problem anymore. Wish my dad was a car guy to hand one down like that. Great video!
This is one of the best, most informative classic car videos I've seen in a long time. And the car is a stunner. Having gone through two 1974 Mustang II's in my much-younger days (my Mustang II's were both dogs), I truly appreciate the engineering and careful attention to detail that were obviously the hallmark of the 1967 Mustang hatchback.
Excellent. Great attention to detail on the restoration. I noticed under the hood how many things were not painted red as many would do (bolts, springs, etc. were all proper). It's a pleasure to see a person and family appreciate and maintain that classic.
Awesome awesome Mustang. Top to bottom. Even the glass headlights that now days is obsolete. And those side windows that fold out. That a car to keep in family. Glad that car is appreciated and he has time to maintain it.

'67 Mustang fastback has always been my favorite car. This one is a true gem. During the sixties there were thousands of Mustangs on the road but, every few were fastbacks. Thank you for the memories.
Who would have ever thought or understood what was being made at the time these vehicles were being manufactured, other than Lee Iacocca, Carrol Shelby and the persons lucky enough to afford them. A true credit to Ford for Going out on the deep end to ensure 67' Mustangs made it out on to the streets and for conniseurs and enthusiasts like Scotty and this owner Tyler who invest blood, sweat and tears to ensure a bevy of them are preservered, maintained, restored, and showcased.
Absolutely gorgeous and in consideration of how rare the car is, you are very brave to still drive it around on public roads, IMHO. Thanks to you and Scotty for posting.

one buddy of mine have a 68 GT 390 4spd 3,89 gear ....yeah yeah modern car are faster and blah blah blah and blah bah bleee ...but there is nothing as fun as those, back in those days even a convinience store worker guy could afford them, for example my father was just a regular shop laborer and he buyed a boss 351 now car are supposedly ''awsome'' but i wouldnt know i cant afford them.... this 68 i spoke about redline at 110 mph but its a blast! its time they go back to basic or they will die off (or have the govt go full communist and take all of your money to make them survive)

OldNewSweetRides idk about that, it’s a great car but nothing tops his Terminator Cobra 10th anniversary. That car not only is a beast but looks good beasting and feasting.

My Father had this car except his had a 289 and was not a gt but shared the hood indicators and deluxe interior. It was Wimbledon white with baby blue interior. It turned heads everywhere. It is to this day my favorite car. Once you own a Mustang you're hooked for life.
My first new car was a 1965 mustang fastback. 289, 200 hp 4 speed. AM radio and no power steering. Yours is beautiful and brings back fun memories. Thanks for sharing.

Beautimous!! My big brother had a white 1965 GT 289. I remember he said it had the “Pony Package.” The air breather was triangular. I can’t swear to it, but I think it said “Cobra” on it. This was like 1976-78. I was 9-11 years old for me. I remember he showed me something on paper that only around 250 of his particular model were produced. It had the four speed and had the 289 “balanced and blueprinted” (whatever that means) while he was in college in California. It was very fast and a high cam. It didn’t like to idle. It really loped.
Nice car ! Best looking car ever built IMO. I had 2 of these both GT 390 4 speed , Red but not with all options you have. I was young and raising a family ( no excuse ) and the wife talked me into selling both . I HAVE DEEPLY REGRETED SELLING FOR 40 YEARS. I got them to condition I wanted , drove them maybe once a month in summer , they were clean and sweet. Makes me want to cry !!!😂😂😂😂😂. Whatever you do DON'T SELL IT ! YOU'LL REGRET IT FOR LIFE

Nicely maintained classic car. The deluxe interior and big block is what made these cars. The overhead console also made it to the Thunderbirds (marketed to look like a jumbo jet cockpit). -Easy Bake Oven is to hold the 8Track tapes -Vent window was in every American and most British cars before 1970. They were vital in cooling and defogging before AC. Wish cars still had them. -Dimmers were always on the floor button in the 60s and early 70s. European design started influencing the move to the stalk. I hate the stalk dimmers. -I do remember a lot of the squeeze foot pump washers. They always failed after a few years as the rubber cracked. Thanks for showing it. Ride happy.
God, I’d love for Ford to build this exact body style as an anniversary year or something, that’d be such an awesome callback to the glory days of the muscle car era
They should still put the fat tires in muscle cars. Getting a flat from hitting a little mud puddle is not very muscular. They need to get rid of those gay skinny VWGTI tires on a muscle car.

I think the fuel injection was 375hp and the one under that was 360hp. I sometimes had reliability issues with the injection unit. @@laserfalcon

I had a 67 back in the 80s . i6 4 speed. Made better MPG than most cars do today. Around 27 mpg.

now car are supposedly ''awsome'' but i wouldnt know i cant afford them.... this 68 i spoke about redline at 110 mph but its a blast! its time they go back to basic or they will die off (or have the govt go full communist and take all of your money to make them survive)

@@Jason-ft9gg if I had to choose any it'd be in the first gen Mustang style but a 69 Boss 429. They were truly the beasts of the day but now they're just shells of their former selves.
My Father had this car except his had a 289 and was not a gt but shared the hood indicators and deluxe interior. It was Wimbledon white with baby blue interior. It turned heads everywhere. It is to this day my favorite car. Once you own a Mustang you're hooked for life.

Beautimous!! My big brother had a white 1965 GT 289. I remember he said it had the “Pony Package.” The air breather was triangular. I can’t swear to it, but I think it said “Cobra” on it.
This was like 1976-78. I was 9-11 years old for me. I remember he showed me something on paper that only around 250 of his particular model were produced. It had the four speed and had the 289 “balanced and blueprinted” (whatever that means) while he was in college in California. It was very fast and a high cam. It didn’t like to idle. It really loped.

Nice car ! Best looking car ever built IMO. I had 2 of these both GT 390 4 speed , Red but not with all options you have. I was young and raising a family ( no excuse ) and the wife talked me into selling both . I HAVE DEEPLY REGRETED SELLING FOR 40 YEARS. I got them to condition I wanted , drove them maybe once a month in summer , they were clean and sweet. Makes me want to cry !!!😂😂😂😂😂. Whatever you do DON'T SELL IT ! YOU'LL REGRET IT FOR LIFE

Nicely maintained classic car. The deluxe interior and big block is what made these cars. The overhead console also made it to the Thunderbirds (marketed to look like a jumbo jet cockpit).
-Easy Bake Oven is to hold the 8Track tapes
-Vent window was in every American and most British cars before 1970. They were vital in cooling and defogging before AC. Wish cars still had them.
-Dimmers were always on the floor button in the 60s and early 70s. European design started influencing the move to the stalk. I hate the stalk dimmers.
-I do remember a lot of the squeeze foot pump washers. They always failed after a few years as the rubber cracked.

Oversized rims and skinny tires make no sense even on modern cars. On old cars they just look obscene.
