    What a really nice and informative video. I had a bit of a rarity back in 1970 I purchased a 1969 Mustang Sports Roof 428 CJ 4 spd. for $1900.00 The original owner ordered it as a base Mustang no frills trim level but with the CJ, 4 spd, 391 gears, no p/s or air. With am radio, steel GT type wheels dark green with black vinyl interior. Being 17 in 1970 with a car like that, working at a popular Mobil Station it was a fun time to be alive. Funny how right after receiving the car I met a really sweet blonde. Getting in a street race was like breathing it happened all the time. As I recall the only street race I lost was to another 69 428 but with an automatic. Another neck and neck race was with a 69 Charger 440. The reason I say I won that one was he stopped for the light I didn’t. Thanks for the very satisfying video. One last thing my best time in the 1/4 at Irwindale was 13.60. That’s a real dog in 2022 but descent in 1970.

    I purchased a 67 GT S code fastback, 4 speed, rust free, needing paint, back in 1976 for $750. Very high optioned car.
    Power discs, power steering, AC, Deluxe interior, AM FM, upper and lower consoles, tilt and swivel column, reminder package, fold down seat. Was a original black black car. I fell in love with the Bullitt car, so when I painted it, it was and still is dark green. Oh and when I purchased it, someone had installed a 428 CJ

    The memories come flooding back. I was at UCLA in '69 with my stock 67 A code GTA. Candyapple red with black interior. Found another student with a K-code 67 4-speed in my dorm. He took me for a ride down to Tommy's on Ramparts and showed off what his "little" motor could do. We commiserated over the fact that we repeatedly had break-ins through the dinky handles on the wing windows and we'd lose tape players and gym stuff. Not too long after I put a Shelby cam and 600 CFM carb on my baby. Such a fun car. Sold it in 75 for next to nothing because gas had about doubled. Regret it still.

    I have a friend that found a K code, 1967 fastback in a junkyard back in the 90's. He bought it for 500 bucks, not much left, got all of the right parts and rebuilt it, sold it 5 yrs later for about 60k. It was Britany blue, i believe.

  • @mannachek
    @mannachek 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    He says this k-code is one of two ever built in dark moss green with a 4-speed. If that is truly the case, I owned the other one in Portland Oregon in 1980. The only option it had was power disk brakes, otherwise it was manual steering, standard interior, AM radio, no fold-down seat car. I did add diamond tuck to the doors and seat backs (it was the early 80's). I will say that this car handled like it was on rails. I out-gunned my buddy in his Porsche 914 up the back side of Council Crest (very twisty). I do miss that machine.

Fast forward to the early 90s and I came across an S code 67 GTA Raven Black Deluxe Maroon interior both consoles tilt which I still gots. So I didn't get to pick the color it picked me...twice! They look better in the darker colors cause the chrome contrasts well.

      HA! I was expecting a bunch of people hating on driving barefoot, but I'm kind of surprised to get a positive comment first. Honestly, it's just really hot here sometimes in Texas and you do what you gotta do to stay cool.

      @@QualityClassics First of all thank you for having responded to me. I am following your TH-cam channel and your Facebook page from Italy, where I am originally from. Driving barefoot: I made a positive comment about it, for the reason that personally (if my opinion can count ...) I have been driving barefoot for many years. First of all, it is very important that no traffic regulations prohibit it, in any state of America and even in Italy. But I reiterate the concept that, apart from summer weather, barefoot you get the most grip on the pedals, and few people take this thing into consideration. It would be much more dangerous to drive with flip flops. And as for the professionalism of your videos, I find that they are all very interesting, and indeed, for many people who may perhaps object to your barefoot driving, I think you are an example, even as you really drive with great style , your cars. So if I were you, I would continue in this way, even driving always barefoot.

While i was deployed (navy) someone stole the carb, intake, ignition and headers off of it. A few years later i bought a 69 Vette 350/325 4 spd. The Mustang was faster. AM/FM, interior and exterior decor group, tilt-away wheel, A/C, glass backlight, etc. Black interior and top, SS wheels, on and on. Aftermarket aluminum intake saves about 50 lbs off of the front end and is definitely needed.

      Stiffer springs and likely a 1 in front sway. I have a bone stock, unrestored 67 gta s fastback with about every option sans ac. It had what looked to be 7/8 front bar and regular springs. Sat like the car in the video. Upgraded to heavier springs all around 10 years ago w/ 1.5 drop and 1 in front bar, no rear bar. The car handles like its on rails. Every bit as good as my 67 289 coupe with the same setup.

    Having been through many of these over the years and still owning my fair share including a 66 K code . I will say this.... The solid lifter 289 in the 64-68 range of cars is your drivers car . These cars handle and stop and just feel very light on their feet compared to the big block cars of 67-8 . The Big block cars really arent that much fun all the way around. Harder to work on , and heavy heavy heavy. The original design of the car was just ruined by putting a big block in them. And yet these are the most sought after...
    For drag racing thats nice but for a car you want to drive and enjoy this combination is it....

      @@mysterycomment1553 Oh boy , look , ive been at this for about 40 years , I understand what the FE weighs I have a few of them scattered around this garage. A couple of CJ engines , a side oiler on the stand stroked up . I owned a 4 speed GT S code back in the 80s , nice car. Its 150 pounds give or take for the engine alone , start nailing on some aluminum parts and it gets better / Then there is the driveline to support it. Then there is because of its size how the weight is placed in the car.
      I can get almost 400 inches out of an 8.2 decked small block.. Once I nail on aluminum heads and intake that weight difference starts to open up wider. I can position it better in the car and I can make more power cheaper and easier than I can with the FE . Its never gonna happen but lets just say I am only 75 pounds lighter on the front axle . Go ask anyone that builds cars that handle what taking 75 pounds off the front axle will do for a car.......Realistically its going to be more like 2-250 pounds off the nose....

    Being a (passenger) survivor of a Mustang car wreck I've pretty much have stayed away from them for these past 40+ years. I'm not faulting Ford or the Mustang understand, it's removing that glass out of my forehead these many years that's soured me on them you might say. Notwithstanding and just curious, did this car come with factory AC option or was that considered too wus? Nice video, nice series. From a fellow Texan and new subscriber I enjoyed the show.
