Yeh it's wild. I executed a member of a clan controlling a rebel settlement. For some reason it tanked my rep with the empire factions, even though they were at war with them. It took me ages to get the rep back up high enough, that they would accept me as a mercenary or Bannerman... Execution seems like such a bad mechanic as it's implemented today

At first yes but eventually there wont be anyone left. Its a quick way to world domination especially when you start capturing 10+ lords a battle and axing them all.

Historically, executing nobles, particularly kings, was seen as a gigantic taboo, particularly if the one who does it is of a lesser rank. But I wish there were more dynamic ways to go about it. Maybe there should be a ledger of crimes and villainies committed, so instead of it being arbitrary it could be done after a trial. Maybe you should be able to take a criminal noble to a king and have him arbitrate and preside over a trial? And there should be a greater variety of deaths in the game as well. Plots, assassinations, and plague/disease, for one.

This "feature" would be more useful if in some circumstances you are allowed to execute them without or little relation loss, particularly lords that constantly raid or betray kingdoms.
There are two paths built in already. But with the bug only one path is chosen, the worst path. The path that doesn't get used causes less relation loss with fewer people.
There should be a feared trait so that there is atleast a trade off and not just a negative. I usually execute any army leader who attacks settlements in my direct control or who attack me directly. It would be cool if there was 1 a respect trait due to influence and or 2 a fear trait due to large battles won and executions
That sounds interesting. If you are Devious and Cruel and Calculating or some combination, other Lords should hesitate to declare war. If you 'scare' enough of them, the vote to declare war will be turned down. I wonder if Traits play a role in that vote. I'll have to look into it.

Yeah, this could be interesting. Have some Trait that track how willing you are to seek revenge for a hostile act against you. AI: "we could attack him, but we should expect retribution, so we should come heavy" or "he's never sought revenge, he's a coward, now is the time to attack" @@johnmtemplar8478
There is some kind of fear mechanic in the game seemingly based of your renown/ army. You can be clearly outnumbered to the degree you should lose and still have enemies run from you if you win enough fights to have a high level lord and renown regardless of if you should win or not.
I love that you looked at the code and it strikes me how similar their code is to mine for my game. It also strikes me how they could have made such an egregious error

Its an early game thing if youre gonna do it, med to late everybody starts inter faction marrying. I lost relations with olek and i need him in my court to win the crown when ole raganvad croakes.
It's very easy to win back relation late game by donating prisoners to faction members. That's why I basically only do executions when I can start leading armies regularly so I can capture more lords to execute and/or donate for relation. I think your charm skill has a massive influence on this, I'm not certain, but you can also win back influence super easily by helping other armies in battles they enter before you do. I've consistently gotten well over 200 relationship positive when helping lords win battles, even if they would have won if I didn't join. This means, at least with high charm, you can have a lord go straight from minus 100 to positive 100 relation in a single battle and it doesn't even have to be a losing battle.
Not going to test it myself, since I only play with “Aging and Death” turned off (Warband style). But what if a player uses old and about to kick-the-bucket Clan Leader (Player character) to execute bunch of lords and then either die of old age or go to Mountain of Retirement then choose an heir to continue playing; Does the new Clan Leader (heir main character) inherit HUGE negative dishonorable trait, or does he or she get a clean record? If later, it would be ideal to “cleanse” annoying NPC lords before continuing as new generation character 😏
This might be completly unrelated, but ive executed many many lords in my current file. Currently im a Vassal of Southern Simpire almost conquered the world, however... Clans in the Simpire keeping leaving to join the vlandians, even simperial clans! And i have perfect relations with these clans but they keep leaving and I cant help but wonder if its from my execution sprees.
You may have good relations with them, but you earned some negative Traits by doing those executions. I'll have to look at the algorithm again, but I vaguely remember it comparing Traits. Regardless, let them leave, it just means you can collect more heads for you mantle. :)
The Trait gains for various quests are small, 50 or less typically. In the video I show the scales, you'll need to do a lot of quests to raise a Trait to the next level.

The game treats Bandits like a faction. So Looters have a culture of Looter and in the Looter clan. The games needs a way to handle all parties the same way, so those properties had to be added to the bandits too.
i executed the sultan and a battanian lord after a defensive siege and even other battanian lords hated me for it. it’s a weird feature. i feel like their should be a bigger punishment when you execute a faction leader but i haven’t had any real repercussions besides relations lost
Nope. You get it after the battle, if he fell or was killed. Since you're executing him, you captured him, so you already had a chance at getting his gear. It would be better to release him and fight him again and again to keep getting chances to get his gear. Since he doesn't actually lose his gear, you could get each piece more than once.
Question: Is it possible to just kill every Lord and not be bothered by that faction for some time I only played Warband so: if dont have enough right to rule everybody starts attacking you. So if its the same in bannerlord. Is it possible to just execute them all
The game tries to keep the clans going. Giving brothers, sisters, cousins, grandparents and so on the party leader roles. Those folks have lower skills so they are easier to beat. If you keep executing, you can get them all, but it takes a while.
I started to go down that rabbit hole... The Traits are all over the code, mostly used in conditions like, if you have THIS Trait, do this else do THAT. As far as leveling them, mostly they come from quests, although there are situations that will change the Trait Levels like Executions.
ive been on a execution spree yesterday playing the game but ive noticed serten clans dont seem get destroyed that easy with excuting there leaders. some of them keep replacing the AI NPCs to them to a annoying extend. ---- How ever cleaning up there major armys has destroy most of there lands / citys and castle areas + currently the faction i tried destroy is only left with 1 city how ever the game stil tells me that they are rich and strong with 1000 troops --- Stil i murderd a lot of them lords and connected clans to there faction... Im starting to wonder if i destroy the main faction lords if the whole thing is gone crumble but they might go die automaticaly due of the wars happening i wonder if ather faction gone besiege the last town they have. So far only benefit ive seen is that they got less armys because less lords / clan mercs connected to them due of executions. Stil ive only managed to destroy rebelion clans with killing the leaders. Dont know if that game has a serten preset for serten clans to exist ingame because so of them seem quickly replace members i kill so the clan never dies realy... even when im forcing a change to the eco system in the game = bit brain death coding?
All clans have the 'best' leaders running parties. If you kill the 'best' leaders, the clans are only left with 'meh' leaders. They have low Steward, so their parties are smaller. The have mostly recruits and may not have the perks to level them faster. They generally have low skill levels, so they are easier to defeat. Executions is the way to go. Leave the 'meh' leaders alive and kill the rest. Stir up a world war with 'meh' vs 'meh'.

Idk why im watching this as im executing every kuzait lord i come across because they held me captive for a week after i got my first lil squad together
The whole game design in bannerlord has countless flaws and often feels lazy, the game unfinished. A kingdom declared war on me, raided villages and killed my people, so I went to battle with their lords.... Even after shooting their lords several times in the head during the battle, they don´t die and just keep coming back with new troops, like zombies, doing their bs all over again and again. So I decided to execute them.... - and geez, the reputation loss is ridiculous. It makes zero sense for the player to get punished for executions when the NPCs constantly declare war, pillage, burn and kill... You even get punished for executing the bandit that killed your family in the campaign. How does that make any sense at all ? Anyway, I just keep executing people in the game since the whole zombie-comeback is too annoying. Sadly it makes politics/interactions, even with other kingdoms, hard/impossible
The ods for dying are very low in the game, even on the highest difficulty. And bows have low death ods on top of that, so thats why. There are mods for increasing that tho
I have played this game for over 100hours and I have finished the game but I have never executed anyone. I also have 4 positive traits. I genuinely find it very strange and disturbing that most players try and execute people. I lost respect for my brother when I saw him do it.
I just started playing this game yesterday. I got 6.0% of the loot of a battle. As a Battanian, somehow I got lucky and took Derthert as a prisoner. I saw he was the king and decided to behead him. I’ve done so with several Vlandian lords. Is this bad? Or should I keep executing Vlandian nobles?
@@user-ed1io1nl5l you can do that. but what I noticed is if you target a specific kingdom's nobles, then the next time they declare war on your kingdom, the would usually make a beeline on your governed settlements. i've experienced it with the vlandians and they raised three armies to seige my town without even stopping by nearby castles.
I use a tool called dnspy and open the libraries in the game directory. It will decompile them. You can also use dnspy as a debugger to step through execution while the game is running.
I've started to execute prisoners of northen empire to weaken them...but lost honor -3((( even relations with my lords and king(( know i dont now what to do...How i conquer empire then(without killing lords)?... ahh
Hey if they are friends with you and you are cruel they shouldn't be surprised when you execute someone 😂 at this rate we should lose relation with honorable people being friends with cruel people 😂. I really like using the execute feature. I feel like I noticed when killing the wolf skins that all the people they did merc work for I lost rep with also
It was a bit buggy as in the encyxlopedia it said that he died of "natural causes" but at the end of the battle i even got the screen when the enemy lord is standing with an axe next to my kneeling character..at least a got to keep his gear

Gooddamn it i knew it was a bug 😂 all the ranting and ravings and "History" lessons from Forum carebears ive had to endure because i pointed out executing a devious / cruel lord shouldn't net an honour loss when you kill them because your literally serving capital punishment to a war criminal so why would anyone outside of his inner circle care when it means their peasants wont be torched as well. Exactly how it works in CK3. If you execute everyone you will be feared by everyone else, easy as that

I've been trying to get merciful trait (for larping) but it's not working for me. Draught animals, extortion by deserters are not doing anything.

I lost my favourite castle to the khuz so after that it was head hunting everytime i fight them.

What does It means bandit faction? Who are they ? I never found a bandit leader and or executed one

So if you excute a Lord do you get his Loot (gear)?
Nope. You get it after the battle, if he fell or was killed. Since you're executing him, you captured him, so you already had a chance at getting his gear. It would be better to release him and fight him again and again to keep getting chances to get his gear. Since he doesn't actually lose his gear, you could get each piece more than once.
Wait. I could have turned my companions into the world's drippiest honour guard by releasing Lords repeatedly? Dammit, I should have known sooner!

It's an option that's available. Some people use it, others don't. As long as you are having fun, then you are playing the game correctly.

Recruit them. Capture them and hold them until you weaken them. Then try to recruit them while they are your prisoner.

Hey if they are friends with you and you are cruel they shouldn't be surprised when you execute someone 😂 at this rate we should lose relation with honorable people being friends with cruel people 😂. I really like using the execute feature. I feel like I noticed when killing the wolf skins that all the people they did merc work for I lost rep with also
Only if that minor clan was part of a kingdom, you would lose relation with members of the faction (kingdom).

It was a bit buggy as in the encyxlopedia it said that he died of "natural causes" but at the end of the battle i even got the screen when the enemy lord is standing with an axe next to my kneeling character..at least a got to keep his gear
How do you look up to game codes?
I use DNSpy. Open all of the .exe and .dll files in the game directories.

Executions remove Lords from Kingdoms. You can cripple a Kingdom by removing Lords.

Lords and Ladies are finite. They can have babies that grow up take over. But if you snuff out an entire clan, it's gone.@@Kiesl_LK

The bug where you always lose more relation with more people than you should? Yes, that was not patched, yet.
Gooddamn it i knew it was a bug 😂 all the ranting and ravings and "History" lessons from Forum carebears ive had to endure because i pointed out executing a devious / cruel lord shouldn't net an honour loss when you kill them because your literally serving capital punishment to a war criminal so why would anyone outside of his inner circle care when it means their peasants wont be torched as well. Yep, without those two prisoner perks to prevent escaping, you may as well execute them.
