pretty sure poison works like elemental ailments in the regards that "the harder the phys/chaos hit is, the more potent the poison will be" and it will only take your hardest hitting poison to be applied, and if you can apply more than 1 poison , it will always take the hardest hitting, 2nd hardest hitting, 3rd hardest hitting, and so on until you can't have anymore poison stacks; and will not overwrite them with weaker poisons. it will always apply the hardest hitting one that you've applied.
30:10 some of the lightning skill gems show what looks like a flat % chance to shock Lightning storm: 25% Lightning bolt: 50% Arc: 15% Falling Thunder: 10%
I think I dont quite understand how the conversion works, if I want to use the Rapid Shot skill that says "converts 60% of physical damage to fire damage" should I look for mods that buff fire/elemental damage or mods that buff my physical damage on my gear? Thanks for the help
depends on what you want to scale, but scaling phys in this instance should not scale your fire damage that results from conversion. So if you get fire/ele damage mods it will scale the fire damage while phys mods will not. At least thats how I understood it
Does the "bleed bypasses energy shield but must damage life to apply" also mean that non CI characters that have energy shield up and get hit with a bleed attack dont actually get the bleed unless their ES is down? If it doesnt work that way I am not sure why CI would be immune.
Hey Zizaran do you mind asking Jonathan if player slams can be dodged by monsters. Warriors cant really get accuracy early but dont seem to need it. Is this because slams arent evaded or affected by accuracy.
Just as a point for mana flask at 54:30, the mana flask running out acts as a dps check in a way. In normal gameplay it's a non issue, but in big boss battles it will ensure you can't do them as Zdps. I prefer to build tanky in these games but I feel like this is a potentially good way to gauge your dps as a player intuitively
16:19 So you get flat life by the truckload but almost no % scaling. The best scaler of life is Overflow, which is probably rare and leads to recovery complications. Life is the easiest to recover, unless it is overflow life in which case it is very hard to recover comparatively. You get flat ES from gear only, but % scaling by the truckload. ES recovery looks mid as recharge delay is longer (2x vs POE1) and the recharge rate is lower (~1/3 of POE1) but ZO is better now. ES doesn’t get a flask without EY. You get flat mana by the truckload and % scaling by the truckload. Flat comes from gear and int. If EB was real, that would give flat too. Mana recovery looks mid too because regen is a decent base (4%) with some scaling, but leech is phys attacks only from what I see so far, which leaves flask reliance as a potential scenario if your mana pool is for spending mana to use skills *and* for your HP pool. Something is fishy about mana pool size scaling here.
@5:00 what steelmage explained has nothing to do with the post. The conversion order in poe 1 was from phys < lighting < cold < fire < chaos. So in poe1 you could only convert from left to right never the other way around. Now in poe2 you can convert the other way around, which means you can convert fire into cold or chaos into lighting. And nothing is explained about how the damage types influence the conversions. If that is the only source than what steelmage said is fake news.
Idk, thats how I interpret it as well. Well find out soon Also hate fake news. That's something meant for intentionally misleading content, not necessarily misunderstandings. Misinterpreting something is an honest mistake but fake news / bait etc all implies malice behind the action.
@@oopomopoo ofc i know that there is no malice behind it. Im just saying that i think steelmage interpreted it wrongly. Maybe there are other sources which proof his statentment to be right, but that specific post just does mean smth else. The best example are the new added support gems, which give 25% from ALL damage as extra damage. So even chaos damage is taken as extra damage, which never happened in poe1. Of course that is no conversion but added extra damage behaved exactly the same way as conversion did in poe1.
When picking up common items like scrolls are they like PoE 1 where you need to click each one or do you pickup all of the same type of items. I always found that to be a problem.
6:38 The meme about the wife wondering what her husband is thinking about ends up with the hubby thinking something like "If toy dinosaurs are made from plastic, and plastic is made from long dead dinosaurs, does that mean toy dinosaurs are made from dinosaurs?"
The Invoker's "Meditate" ability looks like it adds that much energy shield as you channel it, it doesn't just add to the max. So there's another way to regain ES.
32:40 What could really be helpful with this problem is the Passive Node 'Refocus' which gives a 10 % chance for Energy Shield Recharge to start when you use a Skill
Ziz's take on "just play the game and play what's fun" is truly the take everyone should have. Won't know any of the endgame and build-defining uniques for a while.
For conversion How i understand it is 'increased % damage only applies to the final damage type, but +flat is counted before the conversion. So with hrimsorrow. +Flat phys and % increased cold damage affect it
Am I correct that: 100 points physical dmg converted 100% cold would result in outgoing 100 cold dmg. So +10 physical dmg would result in 110 cold dmg. +10% increased physical dmg would result in still 100 cold dmg. +10% increased cold dmg would result in 110 cold dmg.
3:12 What I've been asking myself the whole time: Does this really only affect the way damage is converted, or are all types of conversions now treated this way? Does Energy Shield also lose its origin through Eldritch Battery and all Energy Shield Passive Notes would go to waste?
@@Arodos It's mentioned even in this video xD But it was confirmed by them on the poe discord as well. I'm not 100% sure if we will have the old EB or if the keystone is disabled, or something entirely else. The ES to mana conversion EB is not coming to EA for sure though.

Mobs can have negative resistance but not through the penetrate mod. I'm assuming exposure, or something we havn't seen yet (maybe uniques) can put the res into negative. Edit: watched long enough where you adress that. I dont think claiming pen is useless if you have enough means to bring res into negative is correct either because we don't know in which order those effects are applied. Say you have 50% pen and 150% "doriyani", on a mob with 50% res it's possible that pen will be applied first and only after that 150% kicks in.
We can pretty much assume that the order of "exposure" (or doryani's type things) > Pen is the case since exposure is a stat change or debuff that just exists on the monster, before it gets hit. PoE often doesn't work how we assume though so we'll see on the 6th.

If you are refering to the player's ability to dodge "spells", it is due to a new classification of monster's skills : strike, projectile and area (and maybe ground effects). The attack/spell split is no longer used for monsters, at least not for evasion. All skills that were previously labeled as spells now fall under those categories. A fireball is a projectile for exemple. Strike and spells can be evaded, "area skills" cannot, unless you take the new Acrobatic keystone.

So you can swap all excess dex to another attribute for more life or mana. So you don't need any accuracy affixes on your gear. Using dex as your primary attribute isn't automatic 100% chance to hit, you still have to build for accuracy if you don't have something giving you 100% chance to hit for free.
the ascendancy says you don't miss at range. That means u can still miss close up which means accuracy still has value. We just don't know the ranges/calcs around this so its hard to gauge
Just me or does the fact that most of your tree life will come from travel nodes mean that non-str builds are implicitly nerfed by needing to take mostly non-str attributes. In POE1 you would have %life skills. Now you don’t.
not necessarily since other builds can scale defence differently. Eg if you take a lot of int nodes maybe u can take MoM and have damage apply to your mana pool, or maybe there's a way to split damage between mana/es/life and recover all of them. What seems so strong about strength though is for hardcore characters. Its a very simple way to scale tankiness early on without a need for items, notables or keystones

50% low life isn't actually that new. It's been around for a long time. I thought so too until I looked it up and realized it's been like 3 years since that change
Jonathan said it is 35% in the Interview today
does anyone know how rare 6link gems are gonna be, and if ascendancy skills come as 6 link by default or not?
Is this document available anywhere? Will be helpful when navigating build ideas on launch.
pretty sure poison works like elemental ailments in the regards that "the harder the phys/chaos hit is, the more potent the poison will be" and it will only take your hardest hitting poison to be applied, and if you can apply more than 1 poison , it will always take the hardest hitting, 2nd hardest hitting, 3rd hardest hitting, and so on until you can't have anymore poison stacks; and will not overwrite them with weaker poisons. it will always apply the hardest hitting one that you've applied.
When your buddy has Closed Beta Access the next 3 days. 😎
30:10 some of the lightning skill gems show what looks like a flat % chance to shock
Lightning storm: 25%
Lightning bolt: 50%
Arc: 15%
Falling Thunder: 10%
Do we know if coach co-op is available on PC?
Yes it's in at beta start, they talked about it during the post stream q&a.
At least thats how I understood it
@@TheRealAstro_Increased physical damage apparently will not, but sources of added flat physical damage will. Which is unusual.
Does the "bleed bypasses energy shield but must damage life to apply" also mean that non CI characters that have energy shield up and get hit with a bleed attack dont actually get the bleed unless their ES is down? If it doesnt work that way I am not sure why CI would be immune.
bleed tooltip says that the hit damage needs to be to your life (not es) to proc bleed. So if you have es you cant be bled.
@@MegaBamPow Thats good to know, also makes MoM builds .. well not really immune to bleeds but considerably safer.
yes
Hey Zizaran do you mind asking Jonathan if player slams can be dodged by monsters. Warriors cant really get accuracy early but dont seem to need it. Is this because slams arent evaded or affected by accuracy.
look at poe 2 db, only hammer of gods specifically says hits cant be evaded
you being the source for the leech duration was hilarious, love this content though, great discussion and dynamics between you all here
17:15 i think those early nodes are just above average compared to further out. That was also kinda true in poe 1.
For es regen block trick, you can also use Ancient Aegis with it (recover es on block equal to 1% armour)
The penetration and conversion changes definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm for starting Invoker.
16:19
So you get flat life by the truckload but almost no % scaling.
I’m just curious will the dps on the skill be accurate. Or will it say 30k but on pob it’s actually be 120kdps?? I don’t know how this was answered
Well find out soon
Also hate fake news.
My build idea is using melee totems to create and automatically detonate jagged ground, could be cool i think
And none of it matters in the long run, early access is siloed. You won’t have true PoE 2 competitiveness mattering until early access ends.
Is there a link to this notepad
For conversion
How i understand it is 'increased % damage only applies to the final damage type, but +flat is counted before the conversion.
So with hrimsorrow. +Flat phys and % increased cold damage affect it
Am I correct that:
100 points physical dmg converted 100% cold would result in outgoing 100 cold dmg.
So +10 physical dmg would result in 110 cold dmg.
+10% increased physical dmg would result in still 100 cold dmg.
+10% increased cold dmg would result in 110 cold dmg.
@@Edd1148. I could be incorrect
But that is exactly how I understand it
And 10% inc cold damage would be 121 (including the +10 phys)*
3:12 What I've been asking myself the whole time:
Does this really only affect the way damage is converted, or are all types of conversions now treated this way? Does Energy Shield also lose its origin through Eldritch Battery and all Energy Shield Passive Notes would go to waste?
EB doesn't convert ES to mana anyway, that was an old build.
EB is back to normal, shielding mana with ES.
@@hipposheep Oh, okay. That's new to me. May I ask where this information comes from?
@@Arodos It's mentioned even in this video xD
But it was confirmed by them on the poe discord as well. I'm not 100% sure if we will have the old EB or if the keystone is disabled, or something entirely else. The ES to mana conversion EB is not coming to EA for sure though.
@@hipposheep Ok, thanks for the answer :)
I appreciate all the new content creators that make videos. But these guys are the top tier poe players... they really know what they are speaking about. (with many other) Thank you for posting this.
Wonderful Ted Talk, best of luck with your Jonathan interview!
For the ascendancies and viability. One thing we dont know. Chaos dot skills all get crafted by default by witches, but we havent seen any chaos dot support in any of the ascendacy nodes. Thats a prime potential for someone to get to ascendancy and find out their build isnt possible.
Yeah, I might just go monk if I'm not sure what ascendancy to use. The instant mana leech seems strong defensively and I'm hoping I can get damage on some of the other nodes or make it up on the tree/gear
you just move to a different tab when you get your uncut gem
@@toukoenriaze9870 sure, but if you just start a witch, see these skills, a player should be able to assume they're supported by the ascendancies of that class. We don't know that right now. Its possible they don't and those skills become a trap purely by existing
@@llamas129 true but this is probably just an early access problem, the third witch ascendancy will probably be an occultist or something equivalent. The alternative would be to remove the gem from the game or put the gem on another class tab until the ascendancy is released, neither of which seem preferable
@@TheFreepie have they confirmed there will be 3 ascendancies per class?
16:00 I remember, Jonathan saying something about having no attributes on gear at all, he may have been just talking about that specific slot
@@3barze Pretty sure you have to hit a monster to apply exposure, it doesnt just exist on a monster. Doryani specifically - sure, but we don't know if it even exists.
@@Ren_L314 there's a lot of sources of reduced resistances that stay on the monster. Curses, exposure, many uniques, and I feel like there was a raider thing but dunno if it's still on warden. You can see when exactly the monster loses it's resistances right below the life bar in PoE 1.

I’m new to Ziz channel, but this mf has to be the coughiest dude alive
He's sick. It happens.
I think I heard somewhere that gear does not have stat reqs at all now. Isn't this the case?
Gear still has stat requirements. We even know of a node that lets you dual wield two-handed weapons in return for doubling their atat requirements
Zizaran and Steelmage have exactly same voice type
i really love how this became steelmages video once ziz left. He even barely recognises that ziz is back.
Is it possible to scale shock effect in poe2 like in poe1?

"Because I'm not a programmer"
Even if you were, there are better options. 😂 Obsidian, Notion, or just straight in VSC for example.

5:00 so no more Call of the Brotherhood triple conversion shenanigans right?
Basically. Monk’s “extra cold or extra lightning from all damage” ascendancy nodes are much worse than they would be in PoE 1.
2.5 sec on a level 12 charm. I wonder if the duration scale is higher on a higher level. To maybe solve immunity to like corrupted blood.
What if there was a node that converts enemy damage to chaos damage that we could pair with chaos innoculation? Godgamer build
What about CI + the new MoM since it takes ALL damage from Mana before Life.
Wouldn't that something to consider?
how far are MoM and CI away from each other in the passive tree?
@@TheRealAstro_ Not that far plus the starting point of Witch and Sorceress is roughly in the middle of the two points. This makes it easy for the caster classes to combine them.
@@Arodos MoM does have a pretty annoying downside though, idk if its worth taking for CI since enemies will need to burn through ES before hitting your mana. But maybe its OP idk
If you just wanna get stunned to regen ES, you just dont build any stun resist and any hit will pretty much stun you since its based off of your life, and you have 1 life with CI ?
do we know if stuns and stun resist is still using the same formula or mechanic as in poe1?
10 strength = 1% crit multi for blood witch LOGIN
Monk Invoker can double their ES. Grim feast would then get you to 3x (or 4x depending on scaling) ES? Monk pet build hmmm...

if spells can be evaded, does that mean spells have accuracy?
Good question
If you are refering to the player's ability to dodge "spells", it is due to a new classification of monster's skills : strike, projectile and area (and maybe ground effects). The attack/spell split is no longer used for monsters, at least not for evasion. All skills that were previously labeled as spells now fall under those categories. A fireball is a projectile for exemple. Strike and spells can be evaded, "area skills" cannot, unless you take the new Acrobatic keystone.
It implies that projectiles that spells produce do have accuracy.
Player spells do not have accuracy checks. Only enemy spells can be evaded.
wait if spells are hits, do we need accuracy for spells now?
14:13 Why don’t you screen shot sources, save them on their own sheet in google sheets with a link to the online source, then hyperlink to source sheets in your document? Maybe I’m too much of an archivist
CI + MoM mana stacker seems like its gonna be strong defensively
That's only as strong as your mana recovery, and we don't know how much of that we'll be available
chalupa monk can get that mana and es leech
@@ranielyfire he only gets instant mana leech, the amount u get and the means u get it is up to you and are no similar to other classes.

i wonder if mind over matter would work with infernalists mana replaced by infernal flame or whatever the heck its called
No, MoM is specifically for mana, and you don't have mana as infernalist with the node you're thinking about.
If enemies can’t get negative res does that mean we don’t either? No more -60% chaos???
What game is this?
PoE2
Isn't there a unique shield that counts as having the shield up even if it's not, for the CI stagger/recharge theory.
Jonathen did say that, but the item text he was reffering to didn’t read that way. Hopefully, though
that damage convertion thing about not remembering the original "element" is bad, it severly limits how you can build.
It doesn’t limit it, the power level just appears to be far lower than it was in PoE 1.
The real question is... Why would a dex class ever take an ascendancy that prevents misses, when they are getting accuracy from dex? Hmmm
No one worry about the spell need accuracy to hit monster.
Huge title bait.
Oh shit, i missed this episode of The Game of Thrones.
Oh this was before the interview. No wonder.
If there's only hits, does that mean armor works for spell hits?
Armour works for physical damage, attacks and spells, at least it showed so at the last character screen when you hover over it
if the spell does physical damage, then maybe it would now right?

You can’t put 5 supports into every skill. Some skills don’t have 5 supports to use like buffs and such.
Source? I haven't seen that anywhere, I've definitely not seen everything but it would be weird to lose supports on your limited gem slots.
The most squeezed juice ever to be.
most informative video ive seen so far
