Where did you see that because after he let the mustangs by they just walked him.... I like my s4. But got damn those 5.0's are strong. Makes me regret getting rid of my 2016 at times.
Awesome laps my man! How do you like the Mecan calipers? I fried my rotors on my last track day and was thinking of going to the RS 8pots and 2 piece rotors. I have been considering going with the Mecan calipers but didn't know how they'd perform on the track.
I was using those calipers with Carbotech XP12 pads and Castro SRF fluid, stainless lines. They perform great but the problem with the S4 is getting air into the fender. There’s NO vents of any sort so I still wound up cooking some generic rotors. The caliper is great for the money but if I had to do it again for a track enthusiast, save your money for a true big brake kit. For a street canyon chaser the Macan is great for the money
This is awesome man. Makes me wanna get my B8 S4 track ready. What do you use to capture all the live data? I think I would definitely need the Porsche Macan / SQ5 brake rotors. How do you find the brake upgrade?
I used an app called Track Addict on my phone with a Bluetooth dongle to get the data from the car. GoPro for the video. You then take that data and a load it to your computer to a software called RaceTender by HP Tuners. Brake upgrade is a decent upgrade in performance, considering the factory is the single piston floating front caliper. As much as I track I find it to still be lacking. I am planning on doing the B9 S4 calipers in the future which are a six piston larger mono block caliper. I’m just unsure of how pedal feel will be requiring that much more fluid to move all those pistons.
@@AxialMotorsport Oh I didn't know the B9 S4 calipers go on B8 rotors, good to know. Thanks heaps for the information on apps and devices. Sounds simple enough. Brakes first. Are you still tracking her? Any cooling issues or anything?
@@pklifter they won’t fit the B8 rotors, you do have to upgrade and space the caliper out 1/2” but otherwise they bolt up. I’m going to Daytona International Raceway in December, going to run the full road course. No cooling issues so far, I keep my shifts around 6400rpm to help combat supercharger temps. I’ve just learned what the car sounds like and when to shift.
Honestly I know I could have kept up with them but when they came up behind me I was only three laps in and was still getting the brakes up to temp. The car was basically new to me again. All new suspension and completely redone brakes. I was out there to learn the car more than anything. Also my dad was driving the Porsche Cayenne so I trailed him for a bit to get some video of his driving. My 4th session was where I really pushed hard I thought. My lap times were more consistent and faster the last session than this with a best lap of 1:24:985. You can see my times here are all over the place and significantly slower.
Also the car was stage 1 the last time I was on track and now it’s a lot quicker being stage 2+ so reaching 110mph as fast as it was and having new brakes I wanted to stay within my skill. It is my daily driver after all lol

I’ll find out how the cats look in a few weeks. I have redstar test pipes waiting to be installed. I don’t have anything to compare to really but the car drives great on and off the track. I shortly after these videos upgraded my fuel pump and am running an E50 blend. Have yet to go back to a track while on an ethanol blend. I’m curious on how temps change with ethanol and cats being removed.
I do also shift very early in the rev range if you notice. About 6k most of the time. My dyno showed power drop off massively after that. I’m assuming mostly from supercharger inefficiency and temps.
@@steve-ov6wq just realized I never got back to you. Cats were removed and looked nearly new after those two track days. 29k miles on the car when they got removed.
pleasantly surprised at how hard you pulled form that mustang on the straights

how are the cats looking? are you happy with the ratio for a daily? i guess a 3.1 is normally recommended for track . awesome vid!

@@AxialMotorsport yeah I think above 2 is no good for track unless there is plenty of cooling mods. Good luck with test pipes ;)
