Tanaka is so underrated through this match--he's just solidly racking up points throughout, he's made some useful receives, and now he's composing poetry on the fly. I'm sorry Oikawa got even prettier, I hope you recover soon.
@@dorin497 Lol I love A Goodwins reaction to Oikawa. He always says "stupid, sexy Oikawa" and once Karasuno is no longer playing him he's like "okay I can love him now"
I think Ushiwaka only said that to Hinata because he expected more from him and he was disappointed in his play. Of course he could only phrase it in his direct blunt way of expression
7:45 what Ushijima said is like when kageyama asked hinata what he was doing for 3 years, it's an honest statement/question about what they see in hinata. It was a statement that said "I've seen people like you and they were good in everything and I thought you were the same but this is disappointing "
Ushijima gets out of character regarding Hinata several times in this season, because he's the antithesis of everything Ushijima stands for. Hinata's not big, he's not strong, he's not properly trained, has no credentials, and no major wins tucked under his belt, but he still has the audacity (or the courage) to stand in front of the world and proclaim that he's going to beat everyone. That alone wouldn't be enough to get under Ushijima's skin, but the fact that Hinata (with ample support from his team, obviously) is actually keeping up with him during the match is at odds with everything he's learned or been taught up until now. He's spent so long winning just on the merits of his physicality & training that it throws a wrench in his demeanor when Hinata comes along and flouts it so readily. We're watching his mind be expanded in real time and he's reacting pretty appropriately, at least in my opinion.
I want to give haikyuu credit for its humor, 99.9% of things that are supposed to be funny are really funny. like, I'm watching this for the thousandth time already and it's still hilarious
16:26 There's a meme regarding the S3 promo poster. For context, the promo poster released before the airing of S3 is Ushiwaka vs Hinata but you only see half of their faces. The meme was "If Haikyuu was real, how did they take the photo of these 2 side by side when they have a big height gap?" So someone drew Ushiwaka carrying Hinata as someone's taking their photo for the promo poster lol
Oikawa and Iwaizumi cameo cmon! I always love seeing them lmao. Oh, and they actually cut out a bit of Shirabu's backstory. He's the only one on the Shiratorizawa team that's there on academic merit, not a sports scholarship like everyone else, which means he worked his ass off to pass the entrance exam just for this! Regarding their coach, some people debate whether the slap is metaphorical or not, but I've seen people lean towards the coach actually hitting people because it's apparently normal in Japan for coaches to do so 💀
About ushijima, he said that he hates baseless confidence, so After 3 sets in which Hinata didn't do much he felt the urge to express what he thinks of Hinata directly to him😂. Yeah Ushijima brain doesn't exactly work as everyone else, so he doesn't understand he Is being unpolite.
A very well-timed upload - it's the official Haikyuu day in Japan today (August 19th)! The way I see it, part of the reason why Ushijima addressed Hinata by himself in between the sets is him feeling disappointed or letdown in a way. We saw that he appeared quite interested in Hinata and their upcoming game, and he likely welcomes good, solid competition. He expected that from Hinata (especially with all that talk from their 1st meeting), but so far it's like those expectations were betrayed. 16:43 I think it's not "restricting everything to the left" but "restricting the left-side hitter" aka outside hitter (if I got it wrong, feel free to correct me). Unfortunately, there's quite a few mistakes in the subs, especially when it comes to lingo. As for Tanaka's little poem, that is a haiku, a type of short poetry, and while Suga refers to it differently in Japanese, it feels like the author may have just wanted to make a joke about "haikyuu" and "haiku" x)

Dont know if it's been mentioned yet but: 'Satori' is the name of a monster in Japanese folklore that can read people's minds. This is also likely why Satori Tendo is called the "Guess Monster."
You gotta remember too Lachy, Karusuno is keeping Ushijima to one type of attack. Their blocks are guiding him down the line every time. Its why it probably seems like he's just a cannon with little technique.

omg I never thought about volleyball players landing on each other's legs under the net before - as a former soccer player who's had a fair share of twisted ankles, the brief thought gave me full body shudders
I know Ushiwaka comes off a little harsh in this episode when he confronts Hinata, but let's look at it from his perspective. Back in S2 EP 1, he comes across these two volleyball players. They can keep up with his speed and stamina while running, Hinata showed he had massive hops when he caught an errant volleyball, and Hinata spoke with utter confidence and a fighting spirit. And why shouldn't he? If Kageyama is even close to Oikawa's level, than they should be a very formidable duo. Ushiwaka was _pumped_ to find guys like that in the prefecture. Ushiwaka has been to nationals, he's probably seen elite players come in all shapes and sizes. So when it comes time for this game and Hinata kinda sucks at everything other than spiking, it was a massive letdown. Now, Ushiwaka sees Hinata as someone who speaks with confidence, but doesn't have the skill to back it up, which is antithetical to how Ushiwaka does things, so Ushiwaka does what Ushiwaka does: kick ass and speak facts, to set the record straight and let 'em know!
And I think Ushiwaka spoke up 1st for a change because Hinata is glaring at him so intensely during the court switch. Ushiwaka's probably like: "Why're you glaring at me man? You're not even receiving and blocking properly" lol
@@qyn69 rage bait? people like his ambitious character duh, that ambitious mindset (despite him sucking) to continue to always improve and even lift up/motivate his opponents is no joke bro. lets not forget he's used as a "set" for this team with kageyama from the get go, barely has experience before this team. his character isn't related to his skills at all, he's always trying the best he can that's why he can be "lucky"

You can never escape Oikawa dude. We all didn't. 😂 Just sharing this: Hinata's seiyuu/voice actor Murase Ayumu, is one of the cutest seiyuu in Japan, his voice range is so amazing, he can even do female voice. Both him and Tendou's VA are good in english (Ayumu was born in L.A while Tendou is half german, they were both raised in Japan but they still can speak English). They were even inside joke about Hinata and Ayumu have many similarities, both good in English, cute, made people fall for them and their *ahem* Height *ahem* except athletism. Ayumu can't play volleyball 😂 Tsukishima's VA is same as Shigaraki fron MHA/BNHA, he really love Tsukki. 😂
Ushiwaka just casually obliterating Hinata's self esteem with one extraordinarily blunt question and then casually swanning away, yaaaaassss autistic king 🤭 Tsukki and Noya are stealing the limelight and running away with it, these guys have the COLDEST lines Suga said "friggin" 😱 language, mother
They did a great job at making Ushiwaka feel like a this Mt. Everest sized unstoppable force. really does feel like there is no stop to him. also any strategies just fail in the end. he is such a greatly written character. he feels like hes the final boss but you are stuck with nothing to help but you have to figure out a way to win.
I'm happy my boi Noya is getting more recognition this season - he pales in comparison with Hinata. Kageyama and obviously Tsukki, but he's still doing amazing in this game 🏐⚡ I'm also happy Tanaka gets attention as well, not many people see him and he's SO GOOD at what he does! 🔥🔥🔥🏐
First off, when you didn't upload yesterday the only thing I was was concerned. I just hope that everything was okay with you! So never worry about disappointing me at least. And I know I am not the only one who cares that you are alright. Now about the episode, I love the deep dive into the concepts behind building a strong team. I think it is super important that Coach Ukai(s) make an argument that just having strong individual players isn't the only or the best way to win a game and that it doesn't guarantee that win. I think it is also a smart nod to the strong mighty lone eagle and the murder of crows. Crows work together to take down bigger pray while eagles largely work alone. The way the show will switch from episodes covering a whole match to covering only a handful of intense points makes some episodes feel so much shorter than others. This also makes the endings feel abrupt and kind of disappointing. That is why I think most of us binge the show lol Cant wait for you to experience more!!
Thanks so much for your kind words as always! Everything is all good now! And yes the pacing of these episodes is very interestingly done but I'm liking it. The theme of the battle of the concepts have been super cool so far as well!
i laughed so hard at the "this is season 3!!!i thought we were done with hiiiiiiiim" hahahaha Oikawa and Iwa in every day clothing...was THE moment for everyone watching back then! we went ballistic!hahahhahah Ushijima was kinda just expressing his thoughts...i mean if you saw smn do the things Hinata did when they fist met, you would expect them to at least have the basics down. So, if you love it so much, and you want to win so much that you even provoked me...what have you been doing all this time? i think this is his question....
Yes, Ushijima is hard on people he expects much from. Last season, he also spoke harshly to Oikawa, saying he made the wrong decision and stuff, because he was disappointed they lost. And we all know how highly he thinks of Oikawa. I think it's the same with Hinata. He had high expectations when Hinata snatched the ball from him. But he was disappointed when he saw Hinata is not as good as he thought. It probably irks him more because Hinata talks so confidently that he's gonna take Ushijima down, yet he's still clumsy in a lot of aspects. In a way Hinata was right. Ushijima and Kageyama are similar. Kageyama admires Hinata's athleticism but he always criticize him because he felt Hinata is wasting his talent. Kageyama is harsh on people he expects a lot from (like Kindaichi and Kunimi and Hinata) specially when he feels they're not living up to their full potential. Yet we never saw Kageyama being harsh on Yamaguchi who's one of the weakest players in the team. In fact, he was encouraging when Yamaguchi served. He even said "Don't mind," when Yamaguchi failed. I think it's either because he doesn't expect much from Yamaguchi, or he knows Yamaguchi is giving his best, or combination of both. I think Ushijima is like that too. We just don't see him criticising his teammates much because they probably live up to his expectations.
Honestly by the end of the season Ushijima became one of my favourite characters, I loved his honesty and expectations of great people to do great things
7:28 I think Ushijima is expecting more from Hinata because Ushijima has never seen Hinata play before and their only encounter prior to the tournament is back in season 2 episode 1
Remember when Ushiwaka said that hinata is clumsy. It's true because hinata is still lack in technique, so that he jump like that for blocking. My opinion
I just caught up with your reaction today! it's great that you took your time instead of being pressured to make content, enjoy haikyuu the way you want to! that being said, wonderful reaction as always, I've had that thought too like we know Ushijima is powerful like we've never seen before and he can receive well but does he really just use height and power, no tricks? since he's the top 3 ace in japan for high school. but I think that's the point of the concept, like coach Ukai said, they're the most incomplete team, and they use individual strength that has worked for them for so long, so if he got tricks then it'd be like a mix of concepts instead of one. also Lachy, I wanted to say something about what you said in previous videos too. I respect your competitive mindset, always striving high. I think not a lot of people are like that, but I think it is okay too, for people to not be competitive as long as they still give their best. for example, I started learning figure skating a few months ago, I've never thought about beating anyone, well it's pretty clear that it's individual sport so it's different than team sport but I think my biggest opponent is myself because I suck and I can't control my body yet and I fear falling still. but I just loooove the feeling of skating on the ice, again there's no competition but I always try to improve (and impress my coach which is hard lol) because my skating goal is not to win/compete but to be able to express myself on the ice. the feeling of gliding and moving your body the way you want to, like flying and dancing at the same time. I hope to have that moment someday. so yeah I hope artistic goals count too!
Shirt came....already repped it at the gym 🏋️♂️ 💪 Again each season makes me switch up my favourite characters but nishinoyas attitude and skill he'll always be up there in top 3. As always keep it up champion.
Damn so many typos in these subs. "Someone would be able to block" instead of "someone would be able to follow up on the block", Kinoshita instead of Ennoshita crazy. 9/11 I cant xDD Regarding Washijo - most people dislike him but personally he is my favourite coach. I dont want to go into much detail but I immensly respect his outlook and developmental abilities. He understands that he only gets to work on a player for three years so he will use those three years to drill the absolutely cleanest fundamentals of the sport he can, no fancy plays, no tricks. While he is harsh, unforgiving and often mean, he is also fair and respectable and I just click with people like that. Naming window: Shiratorizwa coach Tanji Washijo - This is a really fun name and interesting juxtaposition to Ukai (which means keeper of crows tldr). Tanji stands for "Blacksmith" while Washijo is the combination of symbols for "Artisan" and "Eagle" which basically comes out as "handler of eagles". So his first name implies his will to forge the strongest players from the potential he finds while his surname references the fact that he is THE Shiratorizawa coach and draws back on his rivalry with old Ukai
wooohoo Edit1: You could say it's... One for All… Against All for One... (I just needed to) Edit2: now I want to see a volleyball anime where they have actual powers Edit3: 24:38 Lachy about to put on some sad music and cry in a corner Edit4: in case you don't know, a Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry where there are three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third, to be fair, some Haiku's break or bend that rule but that's generally the difference between normal poetry and a haiku Edit5: I will just add because I saw your end card and also because of the many mentions of it, since back then when I first watched season 1, Noya quickly became my favourite character, today that spot is more shared rather than being only used by one character, but generally speaking till this day he is up there because I just love how fucking clutch he can be.

Happy Haikyuu day!
(Oikawa wearing glasses 🥵)
Special Oikawa cameos makes these games even better!
oh you uploaded on Haikyuu day! happy haikyuu day and thanks for the reaction!
Sad I've caught up and can't binge rewatch anymore
Happy I've caught up and can follow along up close with the rest of the journey
Watching this the past few weeks and catching up, hearing your advice and the other inspiration from the show has gotten me back into working out consistently again, Thank you! 🧡
I appreciate you going through and watching them all! And I'm so glad to hear you're working out again, please keep me updated on how you go!!
You can never escape Oikawa dude. We all didn't. 😂
Just sharing this: Hinata's seiyuu/voice actor Murase Ayumu, is one of the cutest seiyuu in Japan, his voice range is so amazing, he can even do female voice. Ayumu can't play volleyball 😂
Tsukishima's VA is same as Shigaraki fron MHA/BNHA, he really love Tsukki. 😂
21:16 As an American, this cracked me up 😂😂
I'm glad hahaha
Ushiwaka just casually obliterating Hinata's self esteem with one extraordinarily blunt question and then casually swanning away, yaaaaassss autistic king 🤭
Tsukki and Noya are stealing the limelight and running away with it, these guys have the COLDEST lines
Suga said "friggin" 😱 language, mother
21:14 Solid save.
They did a great job at making Ushiwaka feel like a this Mt. Everest sized unstoppable force. really does feel like there is no stop to him. also any strategies just fail in the end. he is such a greatly written character. he feels like hes the final boss but you are stuck with nothing to help but you have to figure out a way to win.
abrupt ending...LOL wait till you actually see the abrupt ending :D
HAIKYUU DAYYYY!
Watching your reaction to haikyuu made my terrible day better.
I hope its continued to get even better!
@@lachyywhite it got better as soon as I reached home. Thank you :)

DANG MY BAD!
He left a community post about it
@@TimothyGod I most have missed it. Which is weird cause I was on the computer most of the day lol
Thanks so much for your kind words as always! Everything is all good now! And yes the pacing of these episodes is very interestingly done but I'm liking it. The theme of the battle of the concepts have been super cool so far as well!
Every time you see Oikawa it's like watching you see your ex 😂
i laughed so hard at the "this is season 3!!!i thought we were done with hiiiiiiiim" hahahaha Oikawa and Iwa in every day clothing...was THE moment for everyone watching back then! we went ballistic!hahahhahah
Ushijima was kinda just expressing his thoughts...i mean if you saw smn do the things Hinata did when they fist met, you would expect them to at least have the basics down.
WAAAR! Love that moment with the book! 😂
Remember when Ushiwaka said that hinata is clumsy. It's true because hinata is still lack in technique, so that he jump like that for blocking. My opinion
19:05 OMG THAT WAS SO FUNNY 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shirt came....already repped it at the gym 🏋️♂️ 💪
Again each season makes me switch up my favourite characters but nishinoyas attitude and skill he'll always be up there in top 3.
As always keep it up champion.
18:08 damn
I highly recommend you do a double episode for 9 and 10!
Damn so many typos in these subs. "Someone would be able to block" instead of "someone would be able to follow up on the block", Kinoshita instead of Ennoshita crazy.
9/11 I cant xDD
Regarding Washijo - most people dislike him but personally he is my favourite coach.
Naming window:
Shiratorizwa coach Tanji Washijo - This is a really fun name and interesting juxtaposition to Ukai (which means keeper of crows tldr).
The follow up on the block was right tho
Love these reactions, greetings from Germany
hahha you can binge watch them all now! I really appreciate your kind words
Love your Videos man 🗣️🗣️🗣️. BTW your audience is also from India 🌹. Love from India
Big love!
Ngl but i'm waiting for u to meet s4's characters. U will love them
I'm still madbecause they cut out one whole set without reason
wooohoo
Edit1: You could say it's... One for All… Against All for One... (I just needed to)
Edit2: now I want to see a volleyball anime where they have actual powers
Edit3: 24:38 Lachy about to put on some sad music and cry in a corner
Edit4: in case you don't know, a Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry where there are three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third, to be fair, some Haiku's break or bend that rule but that's generally the difference between normal poetry and a haiku
Edit5: I will just add because I saw your end card and also because of the many mentions of it, since back then when I first watched season 1, Noya quickly became my favourite character, today that spot is more shared rather than being only used by one character, but generally speaking till this day he is up there because I just love how fucking clutch he can be.
Noya is always one of my favourites, I love how cool he is
Oikawa missed u lmaooo 😭😭😭
DONT! 😂
tendou is shorter then tsukki by 1 in
Am I tripping or the thumbnail says it's s3 e4?

It is definitely not a metaphor😬.
