I'm blown away but how many of you legends are seeing this video! Thanks so much for watching along with me and I fix the water mark in later videos 👑♥
Blue Lock has such a good first episode, and I love how the theme is almost the exact opposite of Haikyuu. Also, Ego has the same voice actor as Levi from Attack on Titan, which is probably why you recognized it.
Haikyuu characters trying to achieve the most wholesome teamwork, while Blue Lock starts off by trying to have everyone trying to be the biggest asshole star on the field.
From Haikyuu to Blue Lock is like crazy whiplash😂 Btw I'm halfway through this video, and I want to say that I love how you're open to the idea being expressed here but also looking at it critically and comparing it with your own experience.
@@lachyywhitebased on your experience with futbal, I'd recommend watching Ao Ashi. He's basically in the opposite situation that you were in and it's just as good as Blue Lock imo just underrated
There only thing I would say that you missed, was something at the very beginning where they were going through his childhood quickly and showed the motto of his high school team being "All for one, and One for all" meaning that growing up he was made to score and be himself, while when he got to high school his coach essentially said, "You, yourself, are nothing more than a cog in the machine (haikyuu reference) so there can be no selfish plays." which stunted his growth through childhood by not challenging him anymore to be more, and instead brought him down to the level of his teammates who weren't challenging themselves as well. It depicts the difference of a growth mindset very well vs one of complacency.
"Aw, they're gonna be important. Look at their hair," is the most accurate quote I've heard so far 😭 please keep watching blue lock, it gets better. (Honestly, this is my kind of reaction video. Please keep it up‼️)
Haikyuu is one of, if not the, best sports anime out there for its wholistic and wholesome approach to sports. Blue Lock throws all that out the window and says “Nah this is all about me! I’m an EGOIST!!” Enjoy the ride Lachy
10:09 That's our favourite titan killing, clean freak, short king (Now comes with more height and a bowlcut). He's also the great poetic speech-giving, hinata-scolding, highschool teacher.
Bro just went from “college volleyball player” to “college football player” 😂😂😭 Edit: I posted the above before watching the video "I don't want to take over the family business cause they all got turned to titans" I'm dying😂😭
There's so much to talk about when it comes to Blue Lock, especially in comparison to Haikyuu, but I'll save that for future episodes to avoid spoilers. I really adore Blue Lock's approach to egoism and how detailed it gets as the show goes on, but one thing I really wanted to highlight was how you talked about Ego being so well spoken. The way that Ego kinda baits out their reaction with the mention of the Japanese national team, the way he references real world soccer legends and their egoistic attitudes (and yes Noel Noa is fictional), the way he aggressively attacks their notion of what should be the proper way to do things, it's all so well written and calculated and it never stops being great. This first episode is such an amazing hook both to get you into the story as a whole but also to showcase the kind of stuff to expect from the rest of the series, and I cannot wait to see your reactions to everything else that happens next!
The best way to view Blue Lock is through the lense that it’s a Battle Shounen that uses soccer as a medium. It’s not a sports anime, and viewing it through that lense will only lead you to an unsatisfying watching experience. Speaking from experience here, it’s fun ya just can’t go into it expecting a sports anime story. There are a lot of fun characters imo. And to this I also have the most fun with the series when they’re not actively playing soccer. Which you can say is counterintuitive but that’s just how my viewing experience went.
real I watched Blue Lock as my first sports animanga thinking it was amazing. Then I watched Haikyuu and it bodied the shit out of Blue Lock (Blue Lock manga is still fun to read tho but I'll never be as attached. There are still plenty of mini lessons in BL tho but not the same level)
I think one of the reasons blue lock character design is so wacky sometimes is since they all have the same uniform for most of the manga/anime they need to have other ways to make a LOT of very distinct characters, but I think it's actually one of the good things about the show, it adds a lot of flair (especially because this show is insane)
Being that you were a center back, I can't wait to see your reaction to one of the center back characters in season 2. He's such a cool character with a dope design. Since the show is going to be somewhat exaggerated with some of the different characters abilities, I will say now that every move or goal you see in the show has a real life counterpart, meaning everything done in the show is possible irl (just maybe not as much so for high schoolers lol). Hope to see more blue lock reactions soon, as well as a reaction to the opening and ending
Welllllllllllll, the specific *one* agility move in the episode voice is a little exaggerated, and the one specific goal in the NEL arc of the manga is a bit supernatural, but those are like the only 2 clauses I can call a stretch😂
I think if we compare Haikyu to a Sport Anime it should be Ao Shi. They have this wholesome vibe. While Blue Lock is on a different level. A shounen anime with a theme of soccer. It has dark auras. hahahaha
I was loving the reaction so far, your breakdown, attention to detail, adhd tidbits, all of it was really enjoyable, and then u busted out halftime with water for brain juices, and now you have a new lifetime subscriber 😂
Ego is actaully a very good weapon as long as you know how to keep it separate from your real life and derive and apply answers to the areas where you need help to become better.
I'm very much in my Haikyuu era, so maybe thats why I started Blue Lock but didn't care for it much. I think I've only watched the first 3 episodes. Something tells me I'll enjoy it more if I watch it here with the community~ looking forward to it! (Also, I think your caption needs an edit, it says cyberpunk lol)
Wow. Same here. Love haikyuu. Watched blue lock for a few episodes and i just dont get it. I mean, im no longer surrounded by my brothers to compete with and no more attention from parents to fight for (that took a turn... i know. Lol ) but all i remember watching the few episodes was "competition"
Can't believe you're reacting to Blue Lock @lachyywhite. Now I'm curious how you will feel about this after watching Haikyuu lol. Talk about opposite mentality and virtues 😆 I honestly watched this first then Haikyuu. The wholesomeness of Haikyuu caught me off guard because I got used to Blue lock mentality LMAO
@@lachyywhite I'm so glad you're liking it! TBH I was contemplating to recommend it when you asked what other sports anime you can watch haha! OH MY GOD YES YES YESSSSSSSS, i was hoping for nothing more than blue lock to take haikyuu’s place as the sports anime for the channel. thank you so much lachy ur the goat
You should watch Ao Ashi, its realistic blue lock & heavily focuses on ego and what it takes to be the best striker while still being grounded in realism. Miles better than this & very relatable, accurate & so grounded on realism that is endorsed by Andrés Iniesta as best football anime. It shows the roles, tactics, strengths & weaknesses of all roles and uses actual tactics that is used irl. It also focuses heavily on coaching team, styles & heavy on the divisions of how football and how it all works from getting scouted at junior level to climbing to the main team and the journey to it. Overall a more realistic & complete take on football akin to real life. Oh and it has whole arcs on training & drills used in real life to improve both physical & tactical aspect of the game. Especially coaches & their ways to teach the players is really emphasized on.
Well, we did make the round of 16 in 2006, and a massive dive from one of the Italians gave them a penalty shot for the only goal of the game. The Australian team was quite good back then and arguably should have won that game.... But in the grand scheme of things we aren't great compared to the world. There were jokes/memes for years after that where the Italian coaching for their soccer team was just taking dives.
All of the candidates of Blue Lock are forwards/Strikers. So yeah. hahahaha Just imagine 300 candidates of strikers compete for the title of best strikers for Japan
I like the fact that you pointed out the eyes cuz the people who have those swirrly eyes are the people that has gained their ego just like isagi when he gained his ego his swirrly eyes came in but episode 2 you will get a little bit more of what the swirrly eyes mean of i look out for the aura in their eyes too so i hope you understand a little bit of what the eyes in bluelock mean😊
I'm back, not sure if you still remember me xD Firstly: Lachy to play for Real Madrid someday But this anime makes me a better striker. I used to hesitate and thought all forms of ego was wrong. This anime made me realise that I do need ego to stop hesitation and further improve myself. No longer am I content with my usual "as long as I score one goal, I am happy", instead I want to score more beautiful goals instead of tap in, and try new techniques I saw other players doing.
Damn, watching the nice animation in Blue Lock season 1 reaction and just finishing Haikyuu!! movie makes PNG Lock season 2 really really jarring. 😑 And what really sucks is that Blue Lock season 2 is really hyped too.
Just a note, there is pretty much always an end credit scene or an "Additional Time" segment. they are usually more 'slice of life' and show more about the characters, their interactions, and their experience at Blue Lock. They're more like the Jujutsu Kaisen after credits bits than the Demon Slayer Taisho Era Secrets thing. Some people skip them, I watched them all and don't regret it.
A blue lock Journey?!! Lets go! I Graduated Highschool with 2 state championships and 4 school records! Went to Germany and england to play for a while After Highschool but ultimately i Decided that i wanted to travel the world instead of being pro. Love the series and hope you enjoy!

I'm back, not sure if you still remember me xD
Firstly: Lachy to play for Real Madrid someday
But this anime makes me a better striker.
Good to have you back legend! And yes the premise of this show is super cool so far and it seems to speak straight to me haha
Yeah, Blue Lock! Woohooo! 🗣️
22:00 yes it is
Noel Noa is not a real person, but he's based on a real center forward who is very famous.😂😂😂
Damn, watching the nice animation in Blue Lock season 1 reaction and just finishing Haikyuu!! movie makes PNG Lock season 2 really really jarring. 😑 And what really sucks is that Blue Lock season 2 is really hyped too.
Let's GOO! Very excited legend!🫡
Ego's VA is also Levi from AOT!
Bro I can imagine already after you complete the first season you'll be an egoist yourself in the soccer field. ❤❤😅
Ego's voice actor plays Levi from AOT and Takeda sensei from haikyuu :)
That is so crazy! He's got such a big range
A blue lock Journey?!! Lets go! I Graduated Highschool with 2 state championships and 4 school records! Went to Germany and england to play for a while After Highschool but ultimately i Decided that i wanted to travel the world instead of being pro. Love the series and hope you enjoy!
Thats super cool legend! I love that you followed the thing you loved
niiiice! although, as everyone else has also stated, quite the opposite mentality to Haikyuu hahahah this will be interesting!
...btw...it hasnt even been 5min and Oikawa is already here!
awwwwwwww you miiiiiiiisssssss hiiiiiiim awwwwwwww
😂😂😂
