Been living in El Salvador as an American with my wife. We spend nearly half of your monthly expenses out here in Opico!. Usually monthly we spend around 400/600 dollars depending on what we need
@@twopeopleinparadise We’re just really strict with our money but not too strict because we do spend occasionally on pupusas, clothes, etc; but we never make it a habit. A lot of it is buying fresh vegetables locally and making fresh meals, preserving water and electricity when needed, and never spend on stuff you most definitely don’t need! Our rent is 200 for a house that has a lot of space and a yard, we got really lucky with this find. The further away from cities and tourist areas you are, the cheaper prices will be. We pay around 19 dollars in water, 23 dollars in electricity and around 20 for internet each month, nothing too out of this world. Most of the time we stick to eating eggs and beans, both which are very cheap and will last you a fairly long time. As long as you know how to make them right, you’ll never get tired of it. Also taking public transportation such as buses when you need to reach a far location is a very cheap option. My wife is my love but also my financial advisor! She’ll never let me spend on something too crazy. I’ve always been used to spending a lot of money when I lived in the US, but here has taught me to be more responsible and realistic with what I should and can buy. I don’t speak Spanish so it helps her from stopping me since I can’t buy stuff alone lol. I love it here in El Salvador and it feels more alive and comfortable, I wouldn’t have it any other way 🇸🇻

First, I want to send some love from Montreal! You guys are inspiring. I was born in El Salavdor, but I've been in Canada all my life. I was wondering if you could recommend a nice place to settle (not in the city persay... Montreal is not my thing) something like where you guys are at. A place to have your own chicken, for example. 😅 Thanks for your videos. They give a true sense of reality in El salvador
Many, many people have their own chickens all over the country. We were just speaking with a couple that lives near El Zapote, on the western side of the country. They have a little homestead out there. If you'd like us to connect you, drop us a DM on Twitter!
Buy double amounts and go half the trips since yransportation sounds expensive. Or go every 10 days
👍. Do you guys know how the prices for dentists are compared to home?
We haven't been to one yet, but the time for that is soon. Some recommendations have come from our subscribers, and we will be documenting our experience. This will be part 3 of the 'Cost of Living' series, within a month!
Thanks for sharing so detailed information. Regards from Miami. Be careful with autofocus on your camera. I think autofocus does not help when one is too close to the camera.
Oh yes, thank you we are aware. Problem is that the autofocus feature is enabling itself after we disable it. It's really frustrating!
