Hey Andrew. Great video. I am one of those 50 something Americans who moved to El Salvador. I'm far from a philosopher or an artist, lol. I'm retired law enforcement. I'm only here four months. I have started the process of getting citizenship the normal way, which starts with residency. Not hard, just a little time consuming, but well worth it. My wife is from here originally. She spent 35 years in the US and we both decided to retire here, or let's say semi-retire. We purchased some rental properties and live pretty well here. There are pros and cons to living here. It's definately not for everyone. Here are a few things that are important to me. PROS: Weather I come from the north east where winters are terrible. I wear shorts and a tee shirt everyday here. It is a bit humid but for me managable. I tend to like the heat. Cost of Living The cost of living is about half that of NY where I'm from. Back home a sandwich, coffee and fries in a diner runs me $27. Here in El Salvador, I am paying between $10-$15 for the same meal. Gas is slightly higher at $4.10 per gallon but most things are much more affordable here. Safety Since President Bukele dismantled the gangs and restored order, this country has become extremely safe. Much safer than many parts of the US. They have imprisoned upwards of 75,000 gang members. Homicides and violent crimes have nearly come to a halt. CONS: Traffic I am not referring to high volume. My complaint is aggressive driving. Motorists are extremely rude on roads and highways. No one yields to merging traffic. There are barely no traffic lights so every street, or avenue becomes a highway. Pedestrians are at extreme risk here. It is a hard adjustment. Poverty It is heart breaking and depressing to see how many Salvadorans are forced to live. There are signs of extreme poverty in most of the country with the exception of a few pockets of wealthy neighborhoods. There is not much of a middle class. Most of the country is poor. Prices for Salvadorans are high. I can't help but feel guilty being able to purchase anything I desire when most are struggling to survive. Food The food here is okay but I was pretty spoiled back home in NY. Chinese food here is barely edible. No mediterranean food to be found. A simple thing like a grilled chicken ceasar wrap does not exist here, lol. I am adjusting to the food but it is a little rough. Overall four months in, i'd have to say it was a good decision. El Salvador is the place for me and my wife. Oh, last item, a working knowledge of Spanish is a necessity. Very few people here know enough English to be able to help in most situations. I happen to be fluent. It can be a game changer. Learn some Spanish before coming here. No matter your age or background, it's a great place to start a new.😀

the idea is for these people t be leaders and mentors for the el salvadorian people. don't want to give away all the jobs to foreigners and have nothing left for the locals who are first learning.
@@angelofamillionyears4599 They're not trying to flood the place with foreign owned businesses. Rather slow growth and let the locals remain dominant. Bukele has literally explained all this in speeches. This is something the people want and cheer for. They don't want to just be the servant class to foreigners like locals in Dubai. It's one of Bukeles selling points during the election.
Also, if the 5000 happens and they decide they want more, they can always open up to more later. What they can't do is go the other direction if they feel they allowed too many.
With any place new, before you jump in the deep end, it is wise to check it out. This means planning a trip to scout out the locations. Talk with the local people. Get a feel for the place. Figure out if you actually want to be there. Do you have what you want there? Is the status of the infrastructure the way you want it? Do you like the place? Do you feel safe? Does it meet your needs and wants? Do you "feel safe"? Do you feel welcomed? If there any is anything do not like/want, or question something, then perhaps it is not the solution you seek. It may not be a solution for you. This kind of trip probably will take around 2-3 months to really understand. For me, the litmus test for stuff like this is, do I feel comfortable having my elderly mother live with me there? My mother does not live with me now, but that is the barometer or threshold that I set. It is a measure of "comfort"...at least for me.
I stated the same some months ago. Pres. Bukele has chosen a tried & true plan used by the late LKY a generation ago which transformed Singapore from a backwater cesspool w/NO reall natural resources into one of the Four Asian Tigers.
I think you miss a point when you move here. In many cases when relocating you have assets where you STILL have to pay customs. UAE? 5% on the value of cars you move down. Philippines? Insane. Now, we do not talk new here - we may talk about a collector item I bought 5 years ago. This is the same for i.e. a doctor saying "Hey, I want to establish a clinic or move my practice there" - and then he runs into having to pay % of value of items on the move. They abandon THAT. Means you can buy some land, move your stuff down there and start earning (and paying taxes). I think this is a REALLY smart move. I am looking for locations to possibly move from Dubai (there are certain things here I dislike - not political, but I miss mountain roads, and the heat in summer is insane, so I think i.e. to move some of my stuff to south Italy to keep it there in summer) and during that I checked Thailand and Philippines and the idea to move cars THERE is insane - and my cars are partially collectors' items. Not paying 100% luxury tax when I move them. Really like that aspect. If you MOVE to there, you can move your possibly valuable stuff without taxation. NICE. We will show it lasts - but - well... it may be a place to wait out the Singularity and the insane changes we will see in the next years.
So how long you need to live in El Salvador is the big question. If it is just a year or something that is one thing, but if it is 5 years that's something else
So the obvious question, what is quality of life and salary like compared to living in a US city as an engineer? What would the economics work as a working a local El Salvadorean engineering job versus one in the US, and my comparable savings over years?
US will always be superior to El Salvador, El Salvador is the size of a grain of sand compared to the US or EU quality of life in US or EU has been and still will be consistent with higher salaries, benefits, better living and working conditions, growth/ advancement opportunities. At the end of the day it’s your personal preference but some research on El Salvador’s economy, and growth and building in new infrastructure should help you decide what’s best for your life.
I am currently a resident of Panama but this is worth a look. I heard that the Bitcoin City is nothing to see yet. Anyone know what the progress is because to really think it could be an early Dubai is a stretch
If El Salvador truly wants to become Bitcoin Mecha, they need to bring the cost of citizenship down to a highly competitive price. $100,000 should be enough to keep the riff raff out and get enough people to actually come.

You will have to pass the end of highschool exams with very high marks, then qualify to enter the relevant university courses and pass them with high marks. Also note that "faking it" in regulated professions will likely result in long jail sentences in most countries when found to not be genuinely qualified.

Having been to El Salvador I enjoyed it, as a visitor it was fun to see a flashback to the past and see some US chains that went out of business in the USA still thrive and operate in El Salvador think Sears or Radio Shack which are owned by the Mexican branches of those parent companies that did not go bankrupt, or in Radio Shacks Case by the Unicomer group based in El Salvador. As always it never hurts to diversify
I’m Syrian and while I was watching the news recently on how El Salvador eradicated crime and want to build a better future for their country, I was like damn, they seem to have a great great leader! I wish we had the same, but now, I’m thinking of moving to El Salvador after your video, I am in the AEC industry and I dream of building better cities
Are you in Syria currently?
They didn't eradicate crime
It is much better and even safer than some American cities.@@javiervega1065

If you're Muslim, don't move here, we're Catholic and I fear what Muslims are doing in Spain and Europe.
I'm a philosophy professor and interested in living in Salvador... thanks for the info, will stay tuned

My man here ahead of the curve as always. Thank you for sharing such Great insight as you continue your travels across the globe and uplifting others along the way. God bless you

One issue I see for professionals in El Salvador is you will make a fraction of income in what you make in other countries. Salaries are much lower in ES.
Homeschooling is also a very important part which would put a country on our list or not. We are actively searching for nice country to live.
I homeschool my twins and I’ve always found skilled tutors at the Universities. My 2 started French at 14 months and it’s going great!
@@Emilahp Our kids are also bilingual from 2 years old and speak the native language (Dutch) and English. French is next on the list.
@@MrzodiacBE kids learn so fast when they’re young. I found a great teacher who comes to their home classroom and they have so much fun speaking, reading , writing in French. Their progress has been incredible. Your kids will do well, plus you’re not putting them in a govt school. They’ll soar!
Families homeschool in ES. Not to mention foreign language schools for kids are top notch. No garbage is you know what I mean. Very traditional
Options; always keep in mind we can move anywhere.
I’m really tempted to go for this. I have looked for ways to make it work in the US but the corruption running this place has made it an absolute dumpster fire to try and navigate.
You are 100% right about El Salvador’s passports programs, if you have the money and investment ideas, go for it.
Really smart of them of include artists and philosophers.
Time will tell. I realize it’s a negative stereotype but I associate artists and philosophers with Socialists and Anarchists

I doubt el Salvador is the best place for radical woke faminists
I hope Guatemala gets a president like Bukele in the future. Central America has a lot of potential but unfortunately corrupt politicians and C.I.A intervention has limited its potential. I live in Canada but the way things are going I’m thinking about moving back to my home country of Guatemala in the near future. Hopefully we can follow in Bukele’s footsteps.
No one wants a president like bukake expect maga dorks that live in America
Good video about of my country, El Salvador, Andrew. Thanks......
This is their Freedom Program. In their website it says that it costs $999 for the application fee then when you get approved you’ll have to pay almost $1M for the remaining balance. Fees are payable in bitcoin too. ALMOST synonymous to any other country’s Investment Program or Golden Visa route in our own opinion.
5,000 people is not a significant number of people. They need to recruit 100,000 entrepreneurs.
the idea is for these people t be leaders and mentors for the el salvadorian people. don't want to give away all the jobs to foreigners and have nothing left for the locals who are first learning.
@@DG-rv9ph To do that they have to recruit more businesses and create more industry. THese 5,000 are not going to do that.
@@DG-rv9ph True. They need to develop the economy first.

Elderly parents and young children!
Then I think you might like El Salvador, the weather is great for elderly, and people are very warm.
Where is the link to apply?

El Salvador is AMAZING 😁💙🇸🇻

Though I can’t afford that I agree.
$100k is too low. $1M makes more sense.
Yes, at least a million to keep out the riff raff who can only afford 100k.

I've never even heard of charging money for citizenship.

Fantastic and very intelligent. This president is awesome.
malta charges less than a mil for the passport, but then there are other fees and expenses which make it a little over a million (like buying a place here, investing % amount of money and donating a % amount of money to charity)
That builds a huge infrastructure in general for the country.

My question is:How to become a scientist (engineer or doctor)?
Study.
Find a Diploma Mill. 😂
Bust your ass for 8-15 years.
Worked for me.
You will have to pass the end of highschool exams with very high marks, then qualify to enter the relevant university courses and pass them with high marks. Then its 10yrs of experience working in that field, then and only then are you able to actually lead projects, create knowledge and publish papers that create new knowledge and win industry awards. There's no "quick way" and don't bother with "diploma mills" or "fake quals" - literally every legitimate and recognized qualification is very easily verified online through the relevant governing bodies who authorized legitimate institutions to issue the qualifications. The days of people "faking it" are long gone in any 2nd or 1st world country. Also note that "faking it" in regulated professions will likely result in long jail sentences in most countries when found to not be genuinely qualified.
Answer: Search the internet for some exemplars of genuine credentials, then bust out adobe and get to work. In half a day, you should be able to create some passable docs.
