This is the first ever punjabi movie to release pan india and worldwide in four different languages, tamil, telugu, marathi and hindi. Its the first major project in punjabi film industry to use vfx and took 6 years to complete. It is based on true sikh history of 1739 when nadir shah, iranian ruler ( termed as napolean of asia, undefeated conqueror) invaded india, killed 1 lakh 30 thousands in just 10 hours, looted lots of treasury and captured hindu and muslim women to be taken to be sold in the gazni market of afghanistan. He was so powerful that no one dared to stand against him. But just a small force of sikhs living in the jungles attacked his forces continuous nights , looted their much treasure and released all the women and took them to their homes safely on their own expenses. When nadir shah observed , he became shocked and asked who are these people who have such guts to attack me. He ordered zakariya ( got defeated from nadir and accepted his slavery) to capture them , only then he will let him go. Zakariya forces would not even capture a sikh child. At the end, he decided to hire his five muslim mirasis who are very expert in their acting skills. Zakariya asked them to act like warrior sikhs in front of nadir. Then what happened next, how these simple acting people suddenly turned into fierce warriors, we have to watch movie. Mastaney means those figures who remain absorbed in themselves and almighty and have very less intersest in others but never hesitate to help others in times of atrocities.

Nadar Shah Afshar also known as Nadar Shah the founder of Afsharid Dynasty of Iran and was one of the most powerful and cruel ruler of that time he planned to attack India when Mughal Empire was very weak . And stolen many precious items from India while he was returning to Iran from Delhi after defeating Mugal's he killed many innocent people and took away so many women with him and when Sikh's get information about this cruelty sikhs decided that they will attack Nadar Shah's army at 12am (noon )(because sikhs were expert in fighting at night) to bring back those stolen precious items and women which he kidnapped for trafficking and they succeeded in defeating them and bring those women back safe to their families.
Mastaney movie is based on this true event.

To your point of view on the Persian feel, today's North India, Pakistan and Afghanistan were invaded/ruled by the Persians, I believed, starting from about the 7th century. Persian language was spoken across these areas a lot. The story is from the era when Persian influence was in the decline, thanks to the Sikhs.
The Sikhs became Persian bottlenecks and choked them out of the rest of India. This era was the beginning of the rise of The Sikhs and the decline of the Mughal empire.
This is the time when, not only many started recognizing themselves as Sikhs, to fight back the tyranny, but also the start of tradition when many families raised their 1st born son as a Sikh.

Great Europe Generals eagerly wanted to join Sikh Army, even after conquering the whole India Britishers thrives to dare conqurer the Remaining India which is his Empire. Nadir Sah the ruler of Iran attacked India and looted the gold and precious stones worth several hundred thousand $’s in the year 1739 .He also kidnapped 30,000 to 40,000 thousand Indian women to be sold in the Arabian slave market.
The Sikhs of Punjab attacked and looted Nadir Sah booty and released all the Indian women and sent them home.

Beating them in captive state, but when they were summoned in the court of nadir their spirits were high as always, and nadir asked one of the sikhs after seeing them that these pale thin sikhs killed my best warriors in don't believe that he didn't knew they were not fed from months, then one sikh shouted uncuff my hands and see then nadir ordered to uncuff his hands and with a fraction of seconds he took the sword of soldier standing beside him and killed 5 of nadir soldier within some seconds, and that shooked nadir shah abdali he said I have concurred the most fearsome lands but I have seen these type of warriors and then nadir he made them fight with his best warriors and sikhs won, and nadir told the lord of Lahore the golden words if you don't end up these sikhs then sooner or later sikhs will rule the lands, and took his army back, then after many years ahmed shah abdali the bloodline of nadir shah from durrani dynasty invaded India and killed more than hundred thousand maratha warriors in battle and looted them, then again sikhs came in his way when he was heading back because these mughals came from the way which is called khyber darra or darraye khaibar and punjab country is in the way of darraye khaibar, yes at that time punjab was other country not a part of india, at that time under the command of sikh commander chadhat singh and jassa singh Ahluwalia jassa singh ramgarhiya attacked ahmed shah abdali after seeing nihang warriors fighting his army and killing them like carrots ahmed shah ran away and said to chadhat singh that don't think I'm running away soon I will be back with bigger army and my sons will avenge me, then chadhat singh said that my sons will be waiting for them, and these words also come true the most powerful king of kings maharaja ranjit singh took birth in house of chadhat singh he was the Grandson of chadhat singh he concurred the whole punjab with included today pakistan Tibet India himachal pradesh haryana punjab jammu kashmir and whole Afghanistan, he was the one and only who won Afghanistan and ruled over them, his commander hari singh nalwa was the greatest warrior from him afghans were so afraid that they started wearing dresses like women like salwar kameej, hari singh nalwa and maharaja ranjit singh turned the wheel of invasion that from over 1300 years from darraye khaibar mughals Persian mangols Turkish came to India and invaded it, after maharaja ranjit singh the wheel turned back and sikhs invaded them back and ruled over them , but sikh rule was of justice no muslim hindu and other religion was harmed everyone had equal rights maharaja ranjit singh had muslim governors and financial ministers also muslim a great example of humanity equality was set under his rule everyone had freedom to folowe their religion with respect., punjab was the richest country at that time, even the British were feared to invade punjab at that time that's why they waited 100years after winning whole India to invade punjab after the death of maharaja ranjit singh and hari singh nalwa,

British said that maharaja ranjit singh empire and army was way much more powerful than the napoleon's empire,
The commander general hari singh nalwa was named nalwa by ranjit singh itself when he killed a tiger with his bare hands in jungle after a sudden attack on him by tiger hari singh didn't got the time to draw sword from its cover then hari singh grabbed the jaws of tiger with bare hands and wrestled him down and tear apart the jaw and killed the tiger, nalwa means who can kill the nal, nal means lion,

It might have prince of persia feel abt it but the place and time this movie is set in falls in present day pakistan which used to be a part of india, but at that time was a principality of the persian king.
Since that game is based on that area( persia or Iran) so of course it will have that feel.

Punjab was the gate for every invader who came to looted india. Many invaders looted punjab as well as india. In 1739 1740 Nadir shah emperor of iran looted punjab and india. Jakaria khan was the governor of Punjab. Nadir defeated jakria and looted punjab. Then he moved to dehli. He defeated muhmmad shah rangila at karnal. He looted dehli. He killed people of Delhi. He captured 20000 girls children for slavery. He looted Kohinoor diamond and other jewellery of 90 crores. When he entered India nobody stopped efficiently. When he was going back with looted treasure and girls. Khalsa sikh army looted Nadir shah and rescued girls. Nadir shah shocked to see this. He went and asked jakria khan I want to meet sikhs. Jakria khan told him sikhs lived in jungle. They sleep on the seat of horses. They never fear to die. Nadir wanted to know about sikh activities and life style and fighting techniques. Then jakaria khan called five persons to show life style of sikhs. Those five persons something know about Sikhs. Five men showed sikh activities and sikh war techniques to nadir shah. Nadir shah was realised that sikh actors were so brave. He imagined real sikh were very much brave. Sikhs looted Nadir shah twenty times.

Hlo sir and madam… I’m a sikh and I wanna tell u the history behind this movie. First of all it’s the history of martyrs history of great sikhs.. in the year of 1739, all the sikh community lives in forests, at that moment, the mughals rule the country and suddenly an Afghani invader, nadar shah entered in India to rule it as well as he distorted everything and kidnapped almost 20,000 girls of india just to keep them as servants force them to be prostitute. Then, all the sikhs have guts to tackle with the army of nadar shah. So they started attacking on him at 12 o’clock just to free all the ladies who were kidnapped by nadar shah. He didn’t know about that who are the sikhs? So he ordered the governor of lahore to find them and if someone give them an alive or dead sikh, he will give money to that person. Nadar shah just wondered about the sikh community that how someone can stand infront of him, because he almost destroyed the few areas of asia continent at that time…..so the governor of lahore was unable to find any sikh so he decided that he will show some clowns, dressed up like sikhs to nadar shah. Then he did it…. But nadar shah want to see the bravery of sikhs so he ordered his soldiers to attack on them but those clowns who dressed up like sikhs did pray to god like sikhs do. The prayer has invincible power we believe and they all got fired up just to destroy the soldiers of nadar shah…they cut his soldiers just like vegetables so he decided to went back to afghan…that’s the history of Sikh empire
